This review is focused primarily on our experience with the service rather than the food, and I sincerely hope the manager reads it. My girlfriend and I had been loyal customers since having our first date here. We had always enjoyed the food, especially the calamari and pasta, and until our visit on September 16, 2026, we had never experienced a problem. Unfortunately, our experience with our server that evening was extremely upsetting. Our server, who we believe was named Andres, initially addressed me in Spanish. I responded in English because I do not speak Spanish. He became visibly annoyed and implied that because I am Salvadoran, I should speak Spanish. I explained to him that I am hard of hearing and do not speak Spanish. Rather than simply respecting that, he continued with a long explanation about how his son is also hard of hearing, seemingly implying that I did not have an excuse for not knowing Spanish. Later in the meal, he began speaking almost exclusively to my girlfriend in Spanish after realizing that she speaks Spanish, effectively excluding me from the conversation. Both of us found this uncomfortable and disrespectful. When we were ready to leave, he questioned why we were "in a rush" and told us to wait because he had something for us. He then brought out a tiramisu dessert. Given everything that had happened, the gesture felt uncomfortable rather than thoughtful, and we simply wanted to leave. After we got to the car, my girlfriend told me what had happened while he was speaking in Spanish. According to her, the server told her in Spanish that I was ugly, that she was beautiful, and asked why she was dating me. I was shocked and extremely upset. I had no desire to cause a scene in the restaurant, so we left. The following day, my girlfriend told her brother what had happened, and he contacted the restaurant because he was understandably upset. According to him, when he spoke with the server, the server initially denied making the comments but eventually admitted to them and offered a free bottle of wine on our next visit. That response was incredibly disappointing. After making inappropriate and disrespectful comments about a customer, making advances toward a woman who was clearly there with her boyfriend, and making a customer uncomfortable because of his language and hearing disability, offering a free bottle of wine does not address the underlying issue. We had genuinely enjoyed this restaurant and had been loyal customers. That's what makes this experience particularly disappointing. This wasn't about the food or a minor service mistake. It was about how we were treated and the comments that were made. We will not be returning, and I hope management takes this incident seriously and addresses it appropriately read more

Everyone was very welcoming, we had the Burata Salad as an appetizer, best we ever had, we had the homemade pasta with clams and mussels, it was superb, we also had a pizza, I must say , pizza was just alright, overall its a well deserved 5 stars, we will gi back for sure as we come to the Greek Theater quit often. The restaurant wasn't busy yet, but as it filled up, we noticed other tables who arrived long after us getting their food first. After 35 minutes of waiting with no update, we decided to leave and asked the manager to charge us only for the drinks. I visited Farfalla on Friday, October 9th with a date and had a horrible experience. I have been coming to Farfalla for more than 20 years and I've always had a great experience. Our waiter seemed nice enough at the beginning, but that quickly changed. He was an older gentleman with grey hair. I suspect he may be the manager. The only waiter on the floor. He asked if we wanted something from the bar. When I told him I was good with water, he walked away and shook his head and grumbled something and gestured something with his hand. He made it very obvious that he wasn't happy with my answer. He returned to take our order and I asked him about specials and he said "well" and he motioned to my date. A little strange, but I smiled it off. The food came. He returned and asked if my date was French. I was beginning to become uncomfortable now. He then asked if we wanted anything else. We declined and asked for the check. He returned with the computer. I gave him my credit card. He tapped it and he said "I'm sorry, sir, you card has been declined" I looked up at him in disbelief and said, what? He repeated, "your credit card has been declined". I sat there in disbelief. He put the computer down a little and I could now see the page where you could select a tip. It was all a joke. A tasteless and thoughtless attempt at humor at my expense. What a jerk. I told him him he wasn't funny. He quickly left. I then realized I pressed the wrong button and had to deal with this idiot once again. He returned with an attitude, "it's right here, my friend. "all you had to do was press this" giving me a hard time. I sternly told him the screen vanished and I finished the transaction. He said something else. We no longer wanted to have any communication with him and ignored him as we got up. He continued, "I charged you more for the vinegar" he said with a pathetic smile. It was a nightmare. This guy is the last guy that should be dealing with the public. We'll never be back. It's a shame. It's a nice place, but I have never experienced a ruder, more obnoxious waiter in my life. read more

The food is delicious. Most of the wait staff is kind and on top of it. Not sure if our main waiter is the manager, older gray haired gentleman name Andres, but he is obnoxiously rude. He thinks he is funny but he is disrespectful. He needs to know his audience and not crack jokes at the expense of a paying customer. I visited this place after a hike with a group of friends for an early dinner. We didn't have reservations, but we were seated right away. The food was tasty and fresh. I ordered the Spicy Salami with Gorgonzola cheese, which was pretty good. My friends ordered pastas which were delicious too. One thing I didn't love was the wine pour--the glass was almost completely full. I prefer a proper pour, and I think the service could be a bit more attentive. Faralla Trattoria is our neighborhood gem and we're lucky it's walking distance from home. We come here often and it never disappoints. The Insalata di Finocchi is fresh and delicious, and the Straccetti di Manzo is a favorite. We like to get it with angel hair tossed in garlic and olive oil instead of the roasted potatoes, and it pairs perfectly with the steak. The spaghetti carbonara, fettuccine Alfredo, and even the pizzas are all consistently excellent. Warm atmosphere, attentive waiters, and always a great experience. Highly recommend. read more

But last night I brought my work party here, and everyone was practically overwhelmed with how good everything was. The complimentary bread and olive oil dip was already an exquisite introduction to our meal. Then came the calamari. A mountain of goodness with a tasty tomato dip. Already a feast in and of itself. Then came our meals. Italian restaurants usually skimp on portion sizes while charging a premium. Not Farfalla. They had the most reasonable prices for an Italian restaurant in the area, with the most generous portions, and not lacking in quality by any means. I was the only person in our party to actually finish my meal, and I was beyond stuffed. I had the bowtie pasta with smoked salmon sauce. Absolutely fantastic. The music was also nice and at a reasonable volume, and the light was low and classy. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overly invasive. Farfalla had been on our list to try for some time. On the positive side, the service was adequate, if stern, and the location was lively. The Montepulciano was delicious. Our pasta dishes were not good at all, however. I've been a house made pasta kick for a few months, and the ravioli de magro (spinach and ricotta) was undercooked and completely overwhelmed by the tomato with basil sauce. We couldn't taste anything other than deep tomato (no hint of basil). We also tried their signature pennette with sausage, which was more flavorful with gentle spices, but not worth returning for. The free bread was appreciated because we were starving, but also not that great. My sweetheart was in the mood for dessert, but preferred to go somewhere else. We waited a long time for our food. I think we wouldn't have minded if a waiter had checked in with us or said something pleasant. This is my fall back place in the neighborhood - and I say that in the best possible way.. When I HAVE to have a delicious meal, I know I'll get one at Farfalla. I love their chicken Marsala but my favorite pasta dishes are Penne a la Norma and Tre Fungi. Always yummy. And the insalata Farfalla is simple but delicious. They also give very generous portions - there's always some to take home. I've been going here since they first opened and the food has stayed consistently good. I'll say that I was a tiny bit disappointed when I went there recently for a birthday dinner and the manager didn't see to recognize me, though he's known me for all the decades he's been there, but admittedly I don't go as often as I just don't eat at restaurants as often - but they did bring a dessert with a candle (two of us were both celebrating our birthdays), so that was a sweet and appreciated gesture. I'm a semi-regular, come in every one to two weeks often alone even. Excellent pasta, excellent wine (especially the Orange wine), excellent service, quite reasonable prices for how good it is. Atmosphere works for casual or semi formal, alone or with family, wooden decor, friendly staff, not quiet but not loud and easy to have a conversation. A few tables outside too where your dog is allowed to be with you if you want that. I can't say more, great spot. read more

However we got a bit of bread before the pasta with a dipping oil with herbs and sundried tomato and garlic that I wish I could have poured over my pasta - it was delish! Started with the Contadina, light veggies with goat cheese that was seasoned perfectly and rich in flavor. The pastas were delicious! My favorite was the Farfalle al Salmone, bowtie pasta with peas served in a light pink sauce. The Tagliolini Gamberetti was also delicious and a bit lighter in flavor. My favorite pasta here was the Ravioli di Zucca, though I haven't had that in years. I did also order the apple tart which arrived cold, but I'm thinking that's cause this was an Uber Eats order. The flavor was still great and the apples delicious, I'm certain this must taste amazing fresh and warm. As far as delivery Italian food goes, this was a win! We got seated pretty quickly but similar to our last experience no one brought water or asked for drink order for over 5 minutes. At that point, we were also ready to order. Did I say I was super hungry ? We ordered the calamari, lasagna and gnocchi. They brought some (cold) bread and olive oil which worked to stave off my hangry mood. The large plate of calamari came and it was NOT good. Super chewy and the batter had no flavor and was way too heavy. I ate it though because, you know, still hungry. After a while, my lasagna came. It was barely room temperature, and the thick layer of mozzarella cheese was no longer melted. It might have been good if it was warm, but I will never know. However, the gnocchi was actually hot and tasty. Thank goodness because it was the only saving grace from the visit. Came here for dinner as I had been craving the pumpkin ravioli. Came here multiple times over the years and the pumpkin ravioli was so flavorful, and hadn't been in some time so stopped by. It was busy for a Monday evening but we were seated right away and waters were brought right out. Next came the bread with an olive oil mixed with garlic and other items. It doesn't necessarily feel the bread is made in house, but it's a basic little pre-meal snack. Our server went over the daily specials and mentioned a smoked mozzarella pizza, so we tried that along with the ravioli de zucca (pumpkin ravioli in a walnut and cream sauce). The pizza was decent but not necessarily something I will remember. It didn't have that fitness when holding it out, it flopped down like it was sad due to the heaviness of the cheese on the front end and it melting through, making the crust soggy. As for the ravioli, I had been craving it for some time but it just didn't hit like it used to. It tasted like something was missing from how it used to be prepared. Really can't put my finger on it but it just didn't carry that same flavor it had in the past, and that was a disappointment. I have been going to Farfalla for almost 20 years and it is probably my favorite restaurant in LA. The ambiance is intimate but casual, the staff is always welcoming and personable, and the food is great and reasonably priced. I have never been disappointed by one of their salad specials (especially the burrata), and some of my and my husband's favorite menu items are the Fusilli Tartufati, rigatoni with chicken and broccoli, pepperoni pizza, lasagna, grilled chicken with artichoke hearts, and the grilled skirt steak. They also have a nice wine selection and their complimentary bread and oil is amazing! I'm writing this review after so many years because we went in again this week and had a really nice experience. It's been HOT in LA And we were waiting outside in the heat. They seated us early for our reservation and brought us cold water as soon as we sat down because of the heat. I did not particularly love the pizza because I felt the cheese tastes too "milky" but my sister liked it and said it tasted fresh. I made a Friday night reservation on Resy just hours before. I had never been to Farfalla Trattoria, but my boss who once lived in this part of Los Angeles suggested it. Our party of 3 had a fantastic experience. I'm a big fan of Bruschetta and it was a standout. Served like a flat bread pizza, we ordered the 3 slice and you will have to eat it right away as the crust will get soft and soggy. Otherwise, the crispness of the crust made the dish. For a Friday night, it was quite slow, so I wonder if this is normal. If so, it is likely to be a normal stop for a nice night before a show at The Greek. I was able to find street parking at 7pm, but it was a few blocks away, but nice stroll for a Fall night. read more

Farfalla is such an underrated gem. I came here on a Thursday evening and was seated immediately upon arrival. I made reservations a couple days in advance just in case, but the restaurant was pretty quiet that evening. The waiters were all so friendly and made me feel at home. They serve complimentary bread with the most amazing flavored olive oil (dried roasted tomatoes and garlic, yes please). We ordered the calamari fritti as the app and it was fantastic. Super light and fresh, it's the perfect spring/summer dish. For the mains, we got the tagliolini cozze e vongole and rigatoni al tre funghi. The portions were extremely generous and we had leftovers to take home. Both pastas were incredible and had so much flavor. I especially enjoyed the richness and umami flavors of the funghi pasta. I will definitely be making a trip back here to satisfy any of my Italian food cravings. Well done Farfalla. read more

This is Yelp review I will be listing; 1 star (zero is not allowed): I had an absolutely disappointing experience at this so-called "Italian" restaurant late in the evening (after 8:30pm), and I feel compelled to share it to warn others, especially seniors or those with mobility needs. We arrived to find the place nearly empty, only about 4 out of 20 tables occupied, which should have been our first red flag. Service was slow, rude, and downright hostile from the start. My guest, a 72 year old senior, requested a simple accommodation for comfort: sitting side by side in a one-sided booth, which would have required moving the table just 3-4 inches. Before we could fully explain the reason (related to mobility issues), the staff yanked the table away aggressively, pulling my body forward (luckily I grabbed the other table), blamed me for trying to adjust it, and snapped, "Leave if you don't like it." My guest even tried to joke around to lighten the mood, but they doubled down on their stance, making the whole interaction feel even more unwelcoming and unnecessary, particularly concerning given my guest's age and visible need for such a minor adjustment. The hostility was so intense that my guest didn't even feel comfortable paying with a credit card, fearing possible retaliation. As for the food, it was a total miss. The pasta e fagioli soup tasted and looked like straight-up refried beans from a can--nothing Italian about it. The marinara sauce was gross ketchup-like slop in both appearance and flavor. We sent both back, but the overall vibe and quality made us regret staying. If you're looking for authentic Italian or even basic hospitality, skip this place. I hope they improve, but based on our visit, it's not worth the risk. read more

Visited Farfalla for the 1st time for a co-worker's b-day dinner! It's on the corner of the intersection, and you can valet-park at a nearby lot or try street parking. At 7:30pm on a Saturday, I was able to find a few spots on the side streets. The restaurant's quaint and offers indoor & outdoor seating. I recommend putting in a reservation ahead of time; we did, and we were a group of 7 and got to sit indoors. I tried a couple of appetizers, including the Bruschetta Al Pomodoro, which looked and tasted like a crisp flatbread with lots of tomato; and Calamari Fritti (not pictured), which was your standard, lightly golden calamri with arrabiata sauce on the side. My entree was the Gnocchi Di Patate with pesto. The gnocchi was pillowy goodness, but I wish I got a different sauce or added protein because although the pesto was delicious, it got saltier and more oily over time. The gnocchi was super filling though! Overall, the ambiance and food were good - fit for a dinner party. Service was alright, albeit on the slower side. If going on a weekend night and/or peak times, then expect to wait a bit until you can order and eat. Also, do order all your items together. Our waiter disappeared on us for a while after the appetizers & drinks were ordered/served, so we didn't get our entrees until about an hour after the appetizers & drinks. read more

our neighborhood on Finley Avenue has been dealing with the toxic wood smoke from the pizza oven for many years. Every day at 12:30 they start burning wood and it fills our apartment building with smoke. You cannot leave the windows open and you cannot use your patio. You cannot go outdoors. The most shocking thing about all this is they're still burning the oven this week while we still have smoke from the terrible fires surrounding our city. When I complained about the smoke today to John Borghetti, the owner, he threatened to sue me for $10 million dollars. His son Xandre was equally rude to us. They don't live in this community therefore they really don't care about what happens here. Despite all the trauma of the smoke from the fires for them, it's just business as usual. Toxic wood smoke from commercial fires needs to be discontinued in. extremely bad for the environment. read more
