Decided to go back with my cousin and wife to try their other offerings and sad to say I was very disappointed. The fries were still fire, the best in town!
However Farang fits in the very westernized/bland/under seasoned palate. The tom yum soup was very disappointing and for $18 I could've spent my money elsewhere. The portion is small and the soup itself is watery. Where are the lemon grass, galangal, peppers, tamarind and other Mainstays that make this one of the best soups in the world? You typically don't see cherry tomatoes elsewhere and the rice noodles were over cooked.
The pad Thai and pad see ew were also victims of soggy and soft rice noodles which fell apart once picked up by chopsticks. The pad Thai lacked the tamarind tartness and sweetness while the pad see ew tasted like soy sauce with some sweetness. The lacked the smokiness you get from a fiery wok.
I hate giving low reviews, but it's hard to compare this spot to other authentic Thai spots in the city. Portions need to be improved, $18 dollars for a small bowl is not the route to go. read more
