Terrible food & worse service! Greasy fried food & spaghetti noodles for chow mein is not Chinese food! Waitresses are very rude & don't seem to care if you come back! One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had! Do yourself a favor & go somewhere else!!!!! read more

So very bad. The service was friendly and fast however the first thing we should have noticed is the place was empty at lunch time on a week day. This place is surrounded by major companies and business that should have employees flocking here if it was good. The only activity was in the bar which seemed to be occupied by somewhat rowdy daytime regulars. We went expecting a lunch buffet but there was not one. We instead ordered from the menu. Items like the sweet and sour pork were on par with the other somewhat dismal American-Chinese restaurants in the area, but this is not saying much. Our "pork chow mein" has become an inside joke between my wife and I, as it was the vegetarian version they make with maybe, MAYBE, a couple tablespoons of shredded BBQ pork tossed on top. Very very dry BBQ pork. We found it hilarious and couldn't even get angry over it because it was so sad. Not worth the extra money for the "pork". We took the majority of our food to go but couldn't face eating it later. Don't check 'em out. read more

I was very presently surprised by how much we enjoyed this. Have tried quite a few items in the menu. Love they offer Chinese style chow mein noodles- I could eat them every day! Nice portion size, not too greedy. Flavorful and yummy. We were pleasantly surprised they offered pad Thai and we really enjoyed it. I will continue to go here. read more

Most Chinese eateries in Eugene fall under the category "Crappy American Chinese Food." This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though the term encompasses both the truly terrible (Lok Yaun) and the reasonably tasty (House of Chen). Far Man, however, in Springfield, LOOKS like a Crappy Chinese restaurant, and has all the atmosphere of an, oh, I don't know--high school locker room with a full bar. The food, however, is surprisingly good (or was the last time I was there). The menu contains no surprises; it's the usual list of Americanized favorites, but the food itself is somehow fresher, tastier, than most Eugene Chinese dives. Not a destination, but if you're out Gateway Way, give it a try. read more

It by far was the very worst food I ever tried to choke down, the pot stickers were cooked/ warmed on one side in cold canola oil one side was uncooked dough chewy and oily. The egg roll had the same quality cooking in cold oil with the inside filling akin to what comes straight from a can of dog food. The orange chicken did have a pretty good initial flavor with an after taste of old dark meat chicken, The pork fried rice was dry with no flavor and 3 to 4 strands of pork for a dinner for two and no veggies at all not even a lonely pea. The chicken chow mien was noodles with no chicken!, but plenty of oil. The shrimp was not really too bad but there was no red ketchupy coctail sauce or sesame seeds and to top it off 50.00 for two for this crap, please.... never go here. read more

*SIGH* FarMan.. We've been coming to FarMan for over 30 years. Sadly, it's the end of an era. This evening my husband and I went to FarMan to have what we hoped would be a hearty Americanized version of Chinese food. We both ordered the Combination #3 which includes egg flower soup, chow mein, rice and mar far chicken. First we were served the soup that had the most unnaturally yellow color, and really weird slick texture. And I'm still wondering what the bits of mystery meat were from. And don't get me started on the slimy glops of egg.. Next came the main course. The same mystery meat permeated the chow mein, and it too had an off taste and texture. I had subgum chow mein, and the vegetables were coated with a shiny, slimy sauce that even copious shakes of soy sauce couldn't improve the flavor or taste. The rice was mushy, overcooked and completely devoid of flavor. Now I should have been suspicious about the mar far chicken just by the hot mustard I squeezed into my sweet and sour sauce. IT MOUNDED UP like a pile of dog poo. I forged on though and bit into the hardest coating which was only masking the texture of the chicken inside, which was reminiscent of beef jerky; stringy and chewy, and nearly impossible to swallow. At least I know what THAT meat was: recycled chicken from 30 years ago. read more

Service was VERY good, food came out lightning quick! Most of it was pretty good, we got the mar far chicken, bbq pork and egg rolls, food was pretty good was not a big fan of the mar far chicken, a few of the pieces were overcooked are hard to eat. It came out so fast I do not understand how it was overcooked? was it made to order? I could not tell you... so far for springfield it was much better than spring garden seafood. I do like Lak Yun on west 11th, but too far to drive... read more

Very very slow and rude sometimes had me waiting 40 mins for my food while I ordered ahead of time !

I had the worst experience in a restaurant that I have ever had at Far Man tonight. Their page says kid friendly but they don't have a changing table in the restroom. I also don't think that drunk people should be falling out of the bar in a kid friendly restaurant. I am not sure if the bartender was blind or what but there is no way that this woman should have been served any alcohol at all. Now to the food. My friend and I ordered special A which came with sweet and sour pork, pork fried rice, chicken vegetable dish, and pineapple chicken. Our meal also came with the yellowest egg flour soup I have ever seen. It had some disgusting excuse for meat floating in the soup and I couldn't finish it. We got our food and were told that they had ran out of the pineapple sauce. The waitres walked away without even asking if we would like a different kind of sauce since the meal we were paying for included sauce. After a long and unprofessional ordeal on her part we recieved some orange sauce for no additional charge. The orange sauce didn't help to disguise the disgusting deep fried chunks of mystery meat. We left most of the food on our table and also walked out feeling sick. I would never go back and I advise others to stay away. read more

I would give them no stars but that is not an option. I was going to place an order through grub hub but my friends said it was better to call and order. The grub hub total was $15.60. I waited on the phone eight minutes to order. They told be it would be a half hour and $18.75. Who knew grub hub had a better deal than the restaurant. Not going there again. read more

Great food and great service. We've ordered the broccoli beef, Kung pow beef, Kung pow chicken and orange chicken and we've enjoyed them all! We like their crab puffs and Chinese donuts too. read more

Rude customer service :/ we came in looking for a buffet so when they said they didn't have one we thanked them & as we were leaving they made rude comments about us.. I've never been here so I can't vouch for the food but with all the other options out there I'm not planning on bein back anytime soon. read more

Gross! Tried for the first time and got the sweet and sour chicken which was gross and they used dark meat and I don't think the sauce was sweet and sour sauce. ALSO I am pretty sure the crab puffs had imitation crab and was also gross. They wouldn't give refund so screw you guys! DO NOT EAT HERE read more

Awesome service and yummy soup. Very kid friendly. We came here for the first time and didn't know what to expect. BBQ pork was delicious and the food came out very fast. read more

Was literally the worst Chinese restaurant that I have been to. My food was atrocious, the bar tender had no idea what I was speaking about when I ordered a drink (which had about 3x more alcohol in it that I could tolerate). Grimey walls, the restroom was grungy, and the place seemed to be where local drug dealers and prostitutes hang out at. There was also a strange woman in her 40's who kept staring at my husband and myself... Lurking around the bar. We definitely won't be returning. read more

Far Man Restaurant - Hot and Sour soup - Chinese Near Me - Springfield, Oregon

We ordered from Far Man via Pony Express. This is the WORST chinese food I have ever encountered. Would NOT eat here again. * Open boxes with exposed food. * Sauce soaked containers and dripping bags. * Soggy crab puffs * undercooked rice and plastic tasting chow mein. * Hair found in Hunun chicken. * Inconsistant portions. * No plum sauce with mu shu orders. * Had to reheat and reseason food (I have NEVER had to do this before). Considering the price I would imagine I wouldn't have to recook. Nearly a $85 bill. Demanding refund. read more

The food is pretty good for American Chinese. Haven't eaten here in many years because my experience there was awful in the past. Due to the corona virus, not many Chinese places open so I thought we'd give them another try. 1st time, all seemed ok. Got home to find out they gave us 6 oz of sauce for 5 large meals containing sweet and sour pork and chicken. Called them, they apologized. Drove BACK over there and got adequate sauce. Giving them grace, these are crazy times. 2nd time a couple weeks later. They added 2 people's meals together in the wrong container (mixed sauces) left out an item AND missing sweet and sour sauce. Called to let them know what had happened. 3 minutes later I get a call from the OWNER arguing with me as to why she knows she got it right, she did it herself. I calmly helped her to understand what happened and that the mix up was with the person taking the order on the phone. She acknowledged that it was their mistake and offered to make the combo plate right. No apologies, no compensation. 3rd time, today, my daughter messages me saying how good the Chinese is there and she was craving it (she's 6 months pregnant so this is important lol) she drives all the way back to Coburg, takes her toddler upstairs and then notices that there's no sweet and sour. She noticed it wasn't on the side when picking up, but thought it would be in with the pork in the container. This is where I come into it... she tells me how bad she was craving Chinese and now her and her son are dipping their sweet and sour pork in BBQ sauce cuz she can't go back out. Pretty frustrated because their errors are becoming habitual. The boy who answers the phone seems nice at first. Then I start to explain what happened. I am calm and just giving him the facts. That's when he starts arguing with me. "We put the sauce in a container and in the bag". I said I am aware of how it is packaged as we have eaten there often. He repeats himself. I offered the suggestion that maybe he thinks it fell out of the bag then and under a seat. Rudely says, no that is not what I am suggesting. I said, there would only be 2 options... that, or it was forgotten in the first place. He is still snarky and unapologetic and insistent that they did not forget it. I said that there was nothing I wanted from the phone call, my daughter was home with her child and could not go back, that I just wanted to let them know so they could try to be more careful in the future. He said ok. I hung up. I then receive a message that there are 2 black hairs buried in her food!!! I am done!!! ‍ read more

I came here recently for the first time in a long time (I know it was sometime before the old owner got busted). Yes, they have remodeled the place, but the absence of stale cigarette smoke smell/the old school racing arcade game made the experience a little less nostalgic. Oh well. I got one of the combo plates. It had approximately the same dishes that I'd order from Kowloons for about $3 cheaper (Mar Far Chicken, Rice, Chicken Sub Gum something or other), and it was just as good in my opinion. Actually, the food tasted better than I remembered. Maybe something changed? I have no idea. This place also apparently has good egg foo young (as my vegetarian mother has told me). I still wonder if they ever use that little section of the dining room that's upstairs... I've always wanted to sit there. Why did they even bother putting stairs there if they never use it? One of the mysteries of our mysterious world, I suppose. All in all, I think I may replace Kowloons with this place as my "Chinese place of choice". read more

My first time i had chinese in Springfield and used grubhub to deliver. I ordered egg flower soup, which came in a large container, enough for two meals. It was thick and very tasty. I had the BBQ pork with hot mustard and it was tender and very good. It was cut very thin, and thinner than i am used to, but still delicious. Then the sweet and sour chicken. The serving was very large and i will get three meals with that. The only reason i gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because my Chinese taste buds like the restaurant i frequent at home. I will definitely order from them again! read more

Not the greatest Chinese food, and I've only tried a few things. I've heard both good and bad from a number of people, so it seems to be a love/hate place from that, and the other reviews here. Sweet & Sour chicken, pretty good, nice white meat chicken pieces, batter fried. The sweet & sour sauce is really good, they add lemon and ginger and it gives it a little flavor boost. It is garishly red and really thick, but somehow it works. Chicken chow mein (chinese noodles), honestly the best chow mein I've ever eaten. It's really delicious. A bit greasy toward the bottom of the carton, but really yummy. Fried shrimp, really good and tastes the same as you would get anywhere else. I'll be back, but I'm still looking for an amazing place. This isn't it. :-) read more

I like this place. They have a "Special Dinner" for 6.95 that is good value for the money. Its just fried or white rice, deep-fried something and a cookie... but when I want chinese food, this is exactly what I'm probably going to order anyways. The building smells like smoke, because of the bar. Its in Springfield, so they're still allowed to smoke inside the building. That is by far the biggest negative. Overall, its not -that- bad but its nothing awesome. read more

Yikes! The worst Chinese in the area, should have gone out of business long ago. Drab and empty surroundings, the best were the photos on the wall of food choices. Food was awful: we ordered shrimp egg foo young, which came in a deep fried cake, with microscopic shrimp scattered thinly on top. Not the way it should be, look or taste. Wait service was left up to one person who didn't seem to have all her marbles and was slow as well. The soup was watery, the rice inedible. They should have paid us to eat there. Won't go back. We should have known the minute we came in. If we had read the negative reviews first, we wouldn't have come in either. Don't go ! Far Man, read this and weep. read more

Has gone downhill so fast. Was once a pretty good place. Service is horrible and very rude. Example: If your soup is luke warm, don't even think of complaining, they'll argue with you!!! Lol. Just went again for the last time today 2/6/18. read more

Recently visiting this local establishment in Springfield's Gateway area with a friend and some family members, I had ordered a dinner salad only to noticed that the salad itself was "Shredded" as if it were ready for tacos, rather than a traditional dinner salad before the main course of dinner. For dinner, I decided to try their Almond Breaded Chicken, comparing Far Man's versus the almond breaded chicken of West Eugene's Lok Yaun Restaurant, ironically, if I had to really choose between the two besides the salad, Lok Yaun's dinner salad beats out Far Man's in this comparison between the two Eugene-Springfield chinese establishments in the metro area. Causal and friendly, Far Man's customer service was actually pretty good, compared to those whom have reviewed this restaurant in the past via Yelp. Far Man's also gained some merit points as well with their crab puffs that we ordered as an appetizer while waiting for others to join us for dinner from out of state. Boldly, where no man has eaten before in the stargate of galaxies, the merit points for the comparison between appetizers has actually got to go to Lok Yaun in West Eugene, customer service was probably a little more in-depth and upfront and personal than that of Far Man's. Overall it was a good dining experience has I had only been there one other time I can remember in all the years I've lived in the Eugene and Springfield area. As for the egg flour soup between the two Eugene eatery's - they both ranked about the same in merit points on a scale between 1 to 5, they could have scored some better points if their salad was cut to traditional lettuce rather than shredded as if their they were serving taco's instead. read more

Yuck. I got a family size combo of like 6 different things and they were all gross. Poor quality food. I don't reccomend

The driver was hot foot it to get out of here his foot in was heavy other than that he was OK because you kind of rude

Continually going down hill. This used to be a good establishment had wonderful food and great serving sizes for the value. Over the last year serving sizes have gotten smaller, food poorer quality and not great service at the management level. This is the second time my order has been messed up and they want to argue and not fix it, or even take responsibility. This is the last time I will be ordering from this place. read more

Prolly the worst pork fried rice I've ever had. No egg, the pork was not chopped up and tasted old.

The costumer service was horrible they where very rude. There hours where wrong which is probably why we got rushed out. My fried Shrimp batter was not cooked all the way through. My noodles where cold, rice was not cooked all the way through either. I had a guy sweeping while I was eating which in my opinion is gross because of dust mites. And on top of everything every employer was wearing an earbud of some sort which is not okay being in costumer service establishments. Nothing good to say like I said the guy who sat us was very rude and rolled his eyes multiple times at us. Very pushy as well didn't even have a chance to look at menu before we got asked. read more

The cheapest Asian food you'll find in the county, but for a reason. You get big portions for $6-7. Just don't look too hard at what you're eating. I got one of the big shrimp egg rolls and it was grey inside. The kind of grey that seems to suck all color from the world around it. No pink from shrimp and no green from veggies. Just one big grey blob surrounded in soggy brown egg bread. I didn't notice at first because I was famished and going to town and had covered most of it with dipping sauce, but my girlfriend pointed it out and I stopped eating post-haste. I imagine the horror that covered my face was sort of comical. It's become a long-standing joke for us: the unfathomable "Greyggroll." We actually went back again because it was so cheap and you get so much. Neither time have we gotten food poisoning, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. The other restaurant clientele we did see (one or two people) were elderly and eating American food. Perhaps that's the secret? Also, only Caucasians work there, which is probably why the food all looks like slop and people were eating American food. The waitress was nice. Most people have mentioned the regulars in the bar. We didn't go into the bar because it looked slightly terrifying and loud hoots and hollering was emanating from the doorway. We peaked in as we walked by. It sort of looked and sounded like a cave of wild animals you instinctively wouldn't go near. It's filled with the sort of bar-fly, drink-cheap-beer-and-gamble-all-day types of older, rough-looking people. One might assume they come from all the low-income housing located directly behind the joint. One also might assume that this is how the place stays in business. One would imagine the other is the American food they serve. read more

If I could give this place a 0 stars I would. They used to be good and I liked their food. Recently I have had two bad experiences with them. They got my order wrong, the argued about it, then I thought I'd try again. They beef broccoli had a burnt taste and the soup was a watered down salt bomb. Everything else had zero flavor. I called to let them know that the pan they are cooking in might need changed and they argued and didn't offer any kind of refund or exchange. I dont recommend this place anymore AT ALL. read more

Years ago FM used to have excellent food. Then quit a few years back they started making mar far chicken with dark meat and its just horrible. At times it is so over cooked you can't chew the meat. Mar far chicken and S&W chicken should be made with white meat. We were very hungry and thought we would give them one last chance to redeem themselves. There was not one person seated in the restaurant, just Grubhub waiting for orders. Instead of seating us far away from the foot traffic coming in to pick up orders, we were seated right by the cash register. Why not start the furthest away and the drunks in the bar were making so much noise we could not hear each other talk. We kept our face masks on until our food arrived. A woman with two kids came in and they immediately took off their masks after being seated. The kids were coughing and one sneezed twice without covering their face. Now normally we would not have notice, but during a pandemic the restaurant staff should enforced the face coverings until their food arrived. GET WHITE MEAT AND KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS SAFE! read more

Do not eat here! Horrible. We used to order from here a couple of times a year and always enjoyed it as a treat. It has been many years since we had it and decided to order to take home. Spending more than $50 got us dried out and unflavored fried rice, greasy on the outside and pasty on he inside egg rolls, orange chicken that literally just tasted like chicken nuggets in a nondescript sauce, and pale and unflavored fried shrimp. The only thing kind of redeeming was the chow Mein noodles. We felt like we literally just threw $50 in the trash! On top of all of that we got to watch all of the drunks going in and out of the bar into the restaurant. We will just visit Panda Express next time, much better food and clean restaurant! read more

Good, Greasy, AND cheap. Everything an American wants in a buffet. They also have a good selection. I don't know if my bias comes from growing up around this as our chinese food staple, but I do enjoy it very much. Its location is great too. I am not sure why all the hating on Far Man. It's your standard Americanized-version of Chinese food. Yeah, it's a little run-down (wear and tear on seats, etc.) and I was seated a table that hadn't been properly cleaned after the previous person. The waitstaff was pleasant enough, but certainly less than attentive. It's a solid 3. Cheap, decent food and way too much of it. Don't be afraid of the bad reviews. My elderly parents would love it. read more

Well let me just start by saying that food poisoning is imminent. The waitress smelled so badly of cigarette smoke. The walls were dusty and filthy. And a swarm of flies were surrounding the room. These things should have been the first sign to leave, but alas we didn't have the nerve to be so rude. Now the whole fam's stomach is saying "you should have stayed far far away from Far Man". It was quite disgusting and you should save your stomach the misery. And I usually feel bad for restaurants that get bad reviews and end up out of business, but in this case, I feel I'm doing the human race a solid. read more
