Gross, Gross and More Gross! First it's the most disgusting place. Filthy and smells funny. I should have known not to eat there. I figured some of the dirtiest Chinese places have some really good food! NOT HERE!! I'm seriously afraid I might have gotten food poisoning! I ordered Chicken Pad Thai and the chicken wasn't cooked all the way! I ordered pork egg rolls and bit down on something hard like gristle so I tried another one for the benefit of the doubt, same thing!! Gross!! I asked waitress and she said they grind the meat themselves. SCARY!! It was also a strange color of meat. The best thing was the soda! I don't usual like to complain but geez!! I went here to commiserate Trump being elected, and can't remember the last time I've had such bad food. Which made it a perfectly fitting meal. The egg flour soup was this thick, artificial yellow, tasteless goop and served with stale saltines. How is that even possible to have stale saltines if they're individually wrapped?! The egg rolls weren't horrible themselves, but the sauce they were served with tasted like artificial jelly donut filling - seriously disgusting. The mar far chicken was mostly just a thick blanket of bland oily batter. While some of the pieces had what actually seemed like chicken inside, most had a thin strip of dry, stringy stuff which I can only describe as oily dried out freezer burned turkey jerky with zero seasoning. The chow mein wasn't anything like actual chow mein, was super bland, and instead of having any actual noodles in it, they just threw in some mein gon crackers. Yes, I know mein gon are sometimes labeled "crunchy chow mein noodles", but they aren't noodles and they are only meant to be sprinkled as a topping on chow mein. All that being said, it could have been worse. The vegetables in the "chow mein" were perfectly cooked (albeit tasteless), the tea was fine for that kind of place, the portions were very large if that's something you value, and it probably wasn't a high sodium meal due to everything being under seasoned. Oh yeah, I had to ask for chopsticks, there wasn't a drop of chili to be seen anywhere, and while service wasn't slow, our waiter was clueless and didn't even know what was in the dish I asked him about. read more

Ordered for delivery via Grub Hub for the first time and am pleasantly surprised with price, quality and quantity. I would definitely order from them again. Service via grub hub was fast and about 30 minutes sooner than expected delivery time. We ordered Orange Chicken with fried rice, a combination that came with broccoli beef, pork fried rice and sweet and sour pork. We also ordered an appetizer- 'king appetizer' which came with BBQ pork, 6 crab puffs (with actual crab pieces) and a HUGE burrito sized egg roll. Way too much food for 3 people but it sounded good. Food came in large takeout foam containers and came with fortune cookies, sweet and sour sauce, soy sauce and hot mustard. My boyfriend agrees that this is some of the best orange chicken he has had. So I ordered a few to go combos and when I got home to eat. I was very disappointed by the quality of the food. The "sweet and sour chicken" was terrible it was way to overcooked. As for the fried shrimp had way too much batter on it and a tiny shrimp on the inside. Also the rice was very bland. The noodles were the only part that was decent. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant, period. I've eaten at several other restaurants in Eugene, plus a few in Stockton, CA and the Chicago suburbs. Still, this is the best of all of them. The place looks iffy from the outside, and there's a bar with a bunch of regulars who probably live there, but the food is fantastic. You get huge portions if you order off the menu, and even more if you decide to go for the buffet instead. I visited this restaurant with a guy who has a HUGE appetite, and he even thought the portions were big. The employees are friendly and attentive. The food is pretty good for American Chinese. Haven't eaten here in many years because my experience there was awful in the past. Due to the corona virus, not many Chinese places open so I thought we'd give them another try. 1st time, all seemed ok. Got home to find out they gave us 6 oz of sauce for 5 large meals containing sweet and sour pork and chicken. Called them, they apologized. Drove BACK over there and got adequate sauce. Giving them grace, these are crazy times. 2nd time a couple weeks later. They added 2 people's meals together in the wrong container (mixed sauces) left out an item AND missing sweet and sour sauce. Called to let them know what had happened. 3 minutes later I get a call from the OWNER arguing with me as to why she knows she got it right, she did it herself. I calmly helped her to understand what happened and that the mix up was with the person taking the order on the phone. She acknowledged that it was their mistake and offered to make the combo plate right. No apologies, no compensation. 3rd time, today, my daughter messages me saying how good the Chinese is there and she was craving it (she's 6 months pregnant so this is important lol) she drives all the way back to Coburg, takes her toddler upstairs and then notices that there's no sweet and sour. She noticed it wasn't on the side when picking up, but thought it would be in with the pork in the container. This is where I come into it... she tells me how bad she was craving Chinese and now her and her son are dipping their sweet and sour pork in BBQ sauce cuz she can't go back out. Pretty frustrated because their errors are becoming habitual. The boy who answers the phone seems nice at first. Then I start to explain what happened. I am calm and just giving him the facts. That's when he starts arguing with me. "We put the sauce in a container and in the bag". I said I am aware of how it is packaged as we have eaten there often. He repeats himself. I offered the suggestion that maybe he thinks it fell out of the bag then and under a seat. Rudely says, no that is not what I am suggesting. I said, there would only be 2 options... that, or it was forgotten in the first place. He is still snarky and unapologetic and insistent that they did not forget it. Located in the confines of the Gateway mall area and specifically along the I-5 entrance where its slowly becoming a Chinese buffet district, Far Man is disgusting when it comes to a real Chinese eatery. Lets not forget the items along the buffet cart, which vary from deep fried entree to "fried rice" with some carrots and peas in it. Service is nice as the place is more spacious than what some people might perceive from the outside. So on July 8 I ordered from this restaurant using grub hub and both of my fired rice orders was horrible and incorrect. I ordered veggie fried rice and what we got was MUSH not rice at all. On top of that when I opened the chicken fried rice they put mushrooms in it. Once I called the restaurant like I did previously the owner was there but not on the phone and went on to tell the person on phone that mushrooms comes in the chicken fried rice. I said no it doesn't look at your menu! My husband is allergic to mushrooms and you've never put them in there. Once the cook told the manager he was wrong he said he would put it in their grub hub book for both fried rices to be replaced. Well I called today and the staff their acted like I was lying to them. The older lady with the glasses who worked as a server wrote down my complaint and was the one who received my call. They went on to say they don't have a Grubhub book which they do!!!! Also they said they have a time limit on food being comped. Ok I get it but when you need to mention this to a person and not give them failed information like you did or have done!!!! This restaurant was a good place to eat at but the food has gone way down hill and for them to lie and just take your money is crap!!!! I paid $93.00 for this horrible mushy food! Thanks to Grubhub today for giving me a full refund and to the lack of customers service on far mans end. After 3 bad experiences in a row, I am updating my review. Each time we have ordered via Grubhub for US to pick up they can never find our order, yet it's prepaid so I'm not sure how that is a thing. Our food has been wrong, cold and greasy the last 3 orders. My broccoli undercooked and the oyster sauce tasted like windex, no joke. I am not sure what has happened over the last 8 months here but it's gotten bad. We order Chinese a few times a month, but it won't be from Far Man anymore :( read more

I placed a $70 order for pickup. What a tremendous disappointment. The fried rice wasn't fried, the two different soups were hardly recognizable, by sight and taste, the chicken skewers were terrible, dry stringy & chewy. Besides that the order wasn't ready after 30 mins. Another 20 mins more the order was ready. There was none in the resturant. No wonder they were trying to get me in the lounge for a drink or 4. Hi, former employee here. I'm here to give out a fair warning of why you SHOULDNT eat here. Let's start with the kitchen. The grills aren't cleaned daily, so there's a lot of black hunk along the edges of the stove tops. The floors aren't swept or mopped, like, at all. During the entire time I've been there, I've never once seen the cooks clean the floors. Then there's the foods. Meats are left out in the open, with no protection on top of them. The chefs don't wash their hands before grabbing what they need to make your food. Employees, before taking your food out to you, pick off of it, eating what they want before giving it to you. I swear I've even watched one of them sneeze in front of a plate without covering their nose and proceeded to deliver the meal. It's absolutely disgusting, and if you eat there I hope you never get sick from the food, but if you did, it wouldn't be surprising. read more

They are serving during COVID, yes, but the food is just not good. The word I use to describe it: Dry. I thought they would be working on food quality; they're not. I ordered something simple, BBQ pork (stuck together and cold), sweet and sour pork (over cooked, dry, cold), and the fried rice looked like it was just white rice that was tossed with some broth( also cold), and nothing but rice. Whatever they call that egg roll, is definitely not one. It's a log of batter, deep fried and, also cold. I threw the meal away and drove to Taco Bell unfortunately. read more

So very bad. The service was friendly and fast however the first thing we should have noticed is the place was empty at lunch time on a week day. This place is surrounded by major companies and business that should have employees flocking here if it was good. The only activity was in the bar which seemed to be occupied by somewhat rowdy daytime regulars. We went expecting a lunch buffet but there was not one. We instead ordered from the menu. Items like the sweet and sour pork were on par with the other somewhat dismal American-Chinese restaurants in the area, but this is not saying much. Our "pork chow mein" has become an inside joke between my wife and I, as it was the vegetarian version they make with maybe, MAYBE, a couple tablespoons of shredded BBQ pork tossed on top. Very very dry BBQ pork. We found it hilarious and couldn't even get angry over it because it was so sad. Not worth the extra money for the "pork". I was very presently surprised by how much we enjoyed this. Have tried quite a few items in the menu. Love they offer Chinese style chow mein noodles- I could eat them every day!
