beef and broccoli with rice in a styrofoam container

Absolutely LOVE this place! I come here every time I go to Phoenix. The bourbon chicken is my favorite and I ask them to put sauce from it on the rice. Heavenly! Their portions are Alonso quite large. You get 2 meals out of one.

Rude and non-fluent english speaking staff. We only tried egg roll appetizer which was just fine. Nothing special. Guys from the shop didn't even addressed my wife. One guy was speaking in some foreign language with other staff member in aggression instead of asking my wife what she wants. It was weird. Even their food varieties are limited. No customers were here while neighboring restaurants has many people waiting in queue.

Famous Wok is located in the Food Court of the Outlets at Anthem in Arizona. Family was hungry, and they wanted rice. This was the best option of the choices available. The combo with fried rice, mixed vegetables, and bourbon chicken was okay. About what I would expect from a place at a food court. Did not have high expectations so there was no disappointment here. Price was okay. Service was great. Don't know if I would choose this place again. I'm sure the rest of the family would though.

Good price, lots of food. Bourbon chicken is awesome and sesame chicken was tasty as well. Mild fried rice was good.

From the moment you walk in, the elegant décor sets the tone beautifully, blending warmth and sophistication with a tasteful nod to its Asian culinary roots. What truly sets Dao Kitchen apart, though, is the staff. Candice is exceptional -- the kind of person who turns great service into a lasting impression. She greets us with a smile that feels sincere every time, remembers our favorite dishes, our preferred sauces, our drinks, and even the little details that make us feel like more than just customers. That level of care is rare, and it means so much. It's obvious that the manager takes real pride in building a team that values hospitality, and that pride shows in every part of the experience. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, beautifully presented, and generously portioned. Every dish feels prepared with care, and every visit reminds us why we keep coming back. For us, Dao Kitchen is more than a place to eat -- it's a place that leaves us smiling, appreciated, and already looking forward to the next visit. Thank you to Candice, the manager, and the entire Dao Kitchen team for making each experience so memorable. You have more than earned our loyalty.

Brisk take out business. The two of us were seated at a table for 10! The only table left. Fried wontons and sweet and sour sauce were brought to the table. We ordered the vegetable egg rolls as an appetizer. Huge, piping hot and no peanut paste which as someone with a peanut allergy I'm grateful for, to say the least. Had the beef chow fun, sesame chicken and BBQ pork egg fu yung. Waitress commented...that's a lot of food for the two of you. She was right. The portions are gigantic. Could easily feed six people. Beef chow fun was good. Wide rice noodles and beef that had some texture and chew to it. Not tough, but not so tenderized that the texture is mush. Sesame chicken is excellent. Plating is poor though. It's just the sesame chicken. They could have added a sprig of broccoli and julienned carrots just for a better visual and contrast. Egg fu yung. The east coast style. Not sure what the deal is out here in Phoenix but most places make an egg patty and put the ingredients on the top. Pretty awful. Not at Dao. They make it the right way with fluffy egg patties and the ingredients INSIDE the patty. BBQ pork was there...but not enough to my liking. Three huge patties. Sauce isn't your typical "brown" goopy sauce though. It's more like a plum sauce. Different. But good. Overall, definitely one of the better Chinese restaurants in the Phoenix area. Overall cost was $55 with a beer. And a ton of food. Had two more meals from it at home. Downside? I had to ask the server for spoons. How were we supposed to get the food from the serving plates to our plate? Fried rice is very poor. Rice in a tiny bit of soy sauce and some microscopic egg. Disappointing. Add some diced veggies at least and bean sprouts. Lots of containers for the leftovers, of course. Overall, we'll come back. Huge improvement on what most Chinese restaurants in the Valley are.

Their food is consistently the same no matter how busy it is, most recently during a heavy dinner hour - prime time. Yes, expect to wait, we started the 30 plus wait time out side and then inside in the small waiting area. It's not fancy by any means. TVs with a game on, servers moving about, and a steady stream of to go orders. We had King Pao Chicken, Beef with broccoli and Mongolian Beef. Also Wongs fried rice & appetizer plate and soups. I had hot & sour soup, absolutely delicious, a little spicy as it should be. My Mongolian Beef was probably the best prepared, very tender beef and flavorful I've had, and always consistently the same each visit. The other entrees severed were equally flavorful, tender meats and served fresh & hot. Servers are kind and knowledgeable of each dish and offer suggestions of their favorites. The seating area is in need of updating but very clean, as are the restrooms. But it's about the quality, quantity & consistency that keeps me returning. Just go!

I ventured inside on this lovely Sunday, noting a delightfully serene dining room with only a few select patrons present. I was instantly received by a charming young woman at the counter who extended a remarkably friendly greeting. While my initial impression of the layout was conservative, the hospitality quickly evolved into something genuinely impressive. They also feature a beautifully appointed small bar that crafts cocktails, which adds a sophisticated touch. I escorted myself to an excellent table and requested a bowl of Egg Drop Soup to enjoy while engaging in a brief, lovely conversation with the attentive staff. The preparation was entirely satisfactory. While the interior architecture and decor are not quite as grand in scale as I had initially envisioned, the aesthetic is tastefully curated and not bad at all. For my main course, I selected the Mongolian Beef from the menu a splendid choice, and beautifully priced at $14.85. The gentleman assisting us throughout the afternoon was an absolute credit to the establishment, executing his duties with flawless precision. When the entrée arrived, the flavor profile and presentation left me completely satisfied. Between the exemplary service and the delicious culinary execution, it was an absolute treat. To be clear, I am a New Yorker and know good fast Chinese food. The ambiance was promising. It looked like I was finally going to find what I've been looking for in Phoenix for years. For whatever reason, Chinese restaurants in Arizona serve egg hockey pucks and cover it with various items and call it egg foo young. I even asked about it before I ordered it. Alas when I got home and saw what I had, I was disappointed. It's faster to make it this way but the egg hockey puck had no taste - zero. They could have at least added oyster sauce, a little soy sauce, maybe nam plah, and perhaps sesame oil. It was tasteless. A complete miss. I also ordered something simple, shrimp spring rolls. They were delicious! I inhaled them and will order them again. I'd go again just for the spring rolls. Maybe they have other dishes that are good and I may not entirely give up but the egg foo young is a no go.

We ordered seafood jjampong and wagyu beef jjampong as sides and genghis khan beef and chili garlic fried chicken as mains. The jjampong had that great umami taste without the oiliness that's unavoidable at other restaurants. The ingredients felt very premium and fresh. Ghengis khan beef pieces were very generous and tender with a savory sauce. Chili garlic chicken was a tad salty for me but had great crisp.
