DO NOT GO HERE. Employees are not nice and do not give correct info and overall it's just a bad place to spend your money. So many other places would actually do something positive with your donations. While they are one of the only places open late night, you would think they would be happier to serve you. No. They seem very inconvenienced with any sort of order or payment from customers and do NOT do allergies well. They say they can work with allergies but they don't care one bit if you actually have a reaction. Over the phone they will completely deny allergies which is BS. I've been going here since it opened and had the worst experience last night. I ordered two slices, knots, and a couple pepperonis for my dog since I didn't recognize the guys working that night, the usual ladies always give my dog some. After my order I noticed the guy "Pablo" wasn't doing anything and just stood there. About 7 to 8 minutes ago by and the guy cooking in the back asked him about my order and Pablo told him they were slices. The other guy pointed to the rack with the slices and then Pablo asked me if I wanted my slices now? I calmly replied of course since I've never been asked that before. He got very defensive raised his voice and said there's no need to be hostile I was just asking. I was about to explain that I'm standing at the to-go window with my dog of course I want it right away but that would have only escalated it. So instead I calmly told him I wasn't trying to be rude just answering your question. I guess he didn't like that since his response was " well how about I don't give you your pepperonis for the dog then" I was going to ask him what his problem was but instead of escalating it I simply told him you do whatever makes you feel better. He then proceeded to put my slices in the oven 10 minutes after my order and didn't give me any pepperonis for my dog. Once he handed me my food I thanked him and said have a good night, he completely ignored me and then I asked what his name was and he said Pablo and gave me a dirty look. This guy has a horrible attitude, obviously doesn't understand customer service or hasnt been trained. I hope this was a one-time thing because every worker there knows me and my dog I've always been respectful, tip well and get along with everyone. I'm just glad I handled it the way I did because I'm usually one that speaks his mind, but I can tell that things would have only gotten worse with this guy. Definitely debating on returning after that. I order a ton of pies from there for both my business and family but will be taking a break from Famous J's and sharing my experience with the neighborhood since I'm on the five Points committee. read more

Famous J's Pizza in Denver is a solid spot for a quick bite, especially before catching a show like Adam Conover at Cervantes. I grabbed a pepperoni slice and a margherita slice. The pepperoni was fantastic--great flavor, nice firm crust, and a solid overall bite. The margherita, on the other hand, was a little underwhelming. The crust was still good, but the basil flavor was bland, and the cheese came in an uneven chunk. Still, the vibe of the place is great. We ordered from the window and ate standing up. We could see picnic tables but didn't know how to get to them and didn't investigate, but it worked out fine. Definitely worth a visit for that pepperoni slice! read more

If you get a slice at the window - amazing. 5 stars. If you order a full pizza, different story. It is the thinnest, wettest, soggiest pizza I have ever encountered. Like to the point that it adhered to the box and if you try to pick it up, it rips into shreds + you have chunks of cardboard on the piece you're attempting to eat. And this isn't a one time thing, I gave this spot multiple shots because the slices were so good at the window. Each time worse than the one before. Next up, salad. The croutons were so stale that instead of being crispy, they were a strange clay consistency. The lettuce was entirely spoiled, brown spots and mushy all over the bottom of the container. They don't answer their phone so you have to go through doordash pickup via their website. Staff is hit or miss on basic friendliness. Location is great so this is a real shame to write. A sad way to spend over $100 on dinner. read more

Located on the corner next to the 715 Club in the historic Five Points neighborhood, Famous Original J's takes you to the streets of NYC where pizza by the slice is commonplace. Look for the to-go window along Welton to place your order. There is an outside area with picnic tables you can sit at while you eat your slice. Or hop into the 715 Club with your pizza and order a drink- also fun! Slices are around $5 or you can get a whole pie for less than $30. Pizza by the slice comes out pretty quickly and orders are taken by friendly folk. I crave this pizza! There are a few Famous J's around the metro area, so I would highly recommend stopping in when you see one. It's worth it! read more

Very good pizza spot in Denver - has become one of my go-to's, and is my favorite in Cap Hill. I usually order a large cheese pizza when I come here. First of all - the pie is huge! The flavor is some of the best in Denver, and a good blend of cheese and sauce. The crust and undercarriage is well done and not burnt, just how I like it. If I were to nit-pick a few things - I wish it was a little thicker / firmer, and that there was not so much crust on the edge of a slice. Overall this is a great spot to get a slice (or pie) of pizza. It can really fill up on summer nights. The pizza is on the pricey side, but I still think it is a good value due to the large size of the slice. I would recommend and continue to return. read more

The local tomato pie venue was called DeLorenzo's. Always in Pizza Magazine quartly as one of the top place for pizza in the US. I'm going into my background because it gives me the past experiences of being able to rate tomato pies. Curtis your pie is phenomenal. Pie under-carry is perfect, with just the right of caramelization. No burnt spots. Slice doesn't flop over when you eat a piece. Quality ingredients. Sir, I want to thank you for delivering so far away to me in Lakewood. Your outsource delivery service is polite and on time plus neat and clean drivers and car. If I get some $ in the future, I would love to partner with you and open a place with a dining room. My background is as a cook and later become a nutritionist & pharmacist. I'm giving this a three star review, which is pretty low for me, but only because it helps put this place in its proper context as a pizzeria and in the general hierarchy of Denver pizzerias. Good, and super convenient, but only special in how much more convenient it is than other pizza places. Ive never had anything here I dont like, but the top reason I go is because its in walking distance of my house and its a by the slice pizza place where you can only order at the window. Honestly, there arent many "munchies" places like that in Five Points or RiNo, so I really do think it's a distinction that matters a lot. Most other places are more sit down or are hitting a higher price point. But if your just out for a walk and want a solid slice of pizza more or less right now, you really wont be able to get that anywhere else. So why a three and not a five? Well, the pizza is good, but there is a lot of pizza in this city that's great! When Im getting pizza for guests or for a real dinner in or as a fun dining experience, I go to Redeemer, or Blue Pan, or even Brooklyns Finest. But if Im in a fast food mood and pizza scratches the itch, those places cant do that and Famous J's can. Get the garlic knots. read more

The only one with any amount of flavor was the pepperoni. I don't usually eat pepperoni pizza, but found myself liking that one the best. We had to drench all of the slices in parm & red pepper flakes and frankly still struggled to get through it. The crust was decent, but the sauce and cheese really just did not pull it together. The grandma especially was disappointing, as the corner piece we got had a noticeable lack of cheese. Great patio for people watching and I could see coming back after a night out, but I will not be back next time I am craving a slice. read more

I've never met a pizza I didn't like.. until now. Seriously, if you know me, you know I love pizza. Anything from a major chain, to a walk up spot, to a gourmet pie. I love it all. I really don't think you can go wrong with crust and cheese and toppings. Well, sadly I have been mistaken. We were in the area for some drinks and I had not tried this spot yet so we decided to order a few slices. My fiancé got two slices of cheese and I got a slice of margherita. The patio was pretty packed, but there was no one in line at the walk up window, so we walked on up and placed our order. Our slices came out about 2 minutes later. Immediately, I noticed my margherita looked absolutely devastating. If you peep the photo I took, you can see there is zero sauce and the toppings are so dried up and sad looking. I thought maybe I'd still give it chance and hopefully it tasted better than it looked. Well, biting into it tasted like it had been sitting out all day. It was cold and stale. I was so bummed because this spot has been on my list for quite some time. I'm hoping we just went on an off night. I do know that it wasn't just my slice that was off, because I tasted my fiancés cheese pizza and it was bland, cold, and also stale. This may be the first time ever that I didn't finish my pizza. Not sure if I'll be back to give it another chance. But hoping others have better luck than we did. read more

It's surprising how I just ended up here for the first time, given my adoration for Rosenberg's. Say what? Yep, this walk up spot is from the same owners as Denver's best bagel. Fight me. Like I said, not sure how I forget about J's given that I'm in the area pretty frequently. Anywho, your boy was craving a hot NY slice the other night. The lady and I chowed down in agreement. They know what they're doing here. Open late is definitely a plus. They have an outdoor patio, but be warned it's a walk up window situation. For the true NYers out there, you'll probably feel at home. Menu is small and that's not a bad thing. Unfortunately they were out of grandma slices, my fiancée and I's favorite, so we'll have to try those eventually. The order: two pepperoni slices for me. One margherita and one cheese for my lady. The result: piping hot slices that we inhaled. The late night hunger was kicking in, and honestly the pizza probably would've tasted better if I waited a few minutes for it to cool. I am who I am. Crisp, crunchy and thin NY-style pizza. Almost too thin? Of any NY-slice I've had in Denver, this is very representative of the real thing. And it's boxed up literally as soon as it comes out of the oven. Not too oily, I expected more from the pepperoni. However, the well done cook was textbook. Positive first impression. I just wanna say that I've been coming to original J's pizza for years now and this used to be my favorite pizza spot. I'm not sure if it was just a bad night or if this is just the new policy, but the pizzas are less cheeser and smaller than they used to be. Also, the two girls that were working behind the window couldn't care less about my order. They were more busy chatting with each other and playing with the towels. Also, I had to knock in order for them to come to the window because I couldn't tell whether anybody was there or not. The lights were on, but nobody was home. read more

I don't know if I came in on an off night but the Margherita slice had little to no sauce on it. Never have I had crunchy, crispy garlic knots before. I ate here on the patio last summer and remember really liking it, but I picked up a couple of pizzas last night (to eat at the Spangalang brewery next door) and it was all just ok. We had a Veggie pie and a Margherita pie. Flavors are pretty good, but something was off with the texture. It felt kind of dry, like there was not enough sauce or cheese. It was also very thin, even by the standards of thin NY style. I thought the best part of my slices was actually the crust, which was perfectly cooked (crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside). It was fine, and we liked it enough. I would be down to try it again if I'm in the area. They do have a nice patio, and they're attached to a cool bar, so it's a good spot to eat if you want to have drinks outside with friends. read more

Good pizza for any time of day. Came on a Sunday evening after some softball. There was a steady stream of people ordering from the window on Welton and those in 715 lounge patio area. The pepperoni pizza was very good and two slices were very filling. We ordered NY style so thin crust with a good tomato sauce base, cheese and large pepperoni evenly distributed on each slice. My only knock is that the woman manning the register forgot to tell us our pizza was ready and we waited 10-20 minutes after it was ready. I understand wanting to talk to other customers but they didn't even call out my friends name that ordered. Simple thing to fix. Excited to go back and try the grandma slice and other toppings. The parking is limited but easier on Sundays (and especially at night) when there aren't time limits. read more

Aurora location: This is the best New York pizza when they get it right. But too often they get it wrong. The regular pie is too soggy, so the last three times I ordered extra crispy. The first time it was burnt. It's been a long time since I ordered pizza from there because of that. But they really do have the best crust so I thought let me give it a go again. The second time, a couple weeks ago, at pick up I asked them to check if it was burnt and it wasn't. It was absolutely perfect. I thought, wonderful, they finally got it down. But no, today at pickup it was burnt. So they made me another one. Waiting around was a bit stressful because I had to take my daughter to a class soon. Anyway, the guy shows me the new pizza to see if I approved. The crust was done fine. But the top of it was very white. I even said so to the guy. I said the pizza is not supposed to look like this, it is too white. But I'll take it. I had to rush to take my daughter to a class. Otherwise, I wouldn't have taken that pizza. Also, the guy was giving me a face like , what you're going to complain again? Lo and behold when we sit to dinner, the pizza had near to no sauce on it. And simply lacked flavor. I noticed while I was waiting around for my redo order, there were two guys who seemed like novices. At around 4:20 the more experienced guy came in. The novices were asking him questions about whether my redo pizza looked done enough. So from now on, I'm going to order my pizza for pick up much later in the day maybe 5 PM so that the more experience guy can make the pizza. I don't want the novices making my pizza. I just wish this place could be more consistent. Also, really that guy should not have let me walk out with a subpar pizza like that. I was in Denver for a visit and was walking through the 5 points neighborhood when I stumbled across this place. They have a patio but it seemed they only had the walk up window open at the moment. I grabbed a slice of pepperoni and a veggie slice. The slices were a bit bigger than I had anticipated and I left with a full belly. These guys make a great slice! This place charges $2.00 per topping. I can purchase a whole clove of garlic for less at the market. The greed for money at this place makes my stomach turn regardless if the pizza is phenomenal or not, which turns out to be pretty typical in taste. RIDICULOUS! read more
