A great addition to Redding. Just a really pleasant place to go have a beer or three. Fall River makes my favorite beer, the Hexagenia IPA, so unless it was served warm or in a dirty glass, I'm going to find a beer I like here. The employees are always low-key, friendly, helpful, but not imposing. They don't seem to be in a hurry, but aren't lazy. Their attitude and pace set the tone. If you are in a taphouse and in a hurry, you probably shouldn't be in a taphouse. They don't serve food, but allow you to bring your own in, which is pretty cool. This place has become my favorite place for a beer in Redding. The staff is fantastic and the tap room is nicely done. As for the beer.....I have been to many breweries and tasted a lot of beers. For my money Fall Rivers beer is some of the best out there. The Pacific Crest Pale Ale is by far my favorite. The Hexagenia is a close second. Try the flight to taste them all. This was a small place we happened upon after I expressed an interest in sampling the local brews. The place is small, but there was plenty of seating and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I wanted to try everything, but I went with a sampler and it turned out to be more than enough. The ales were good, but I was most impressed by their stouts: rich and thick with delicate chocolate and coffee undertones made for a smooth drink without the weird beer aftertaste. Another great addition to the brewers of the North state. Norcal is growing in their beer brewing presence and these beers add to that growing craft trend. Along with locally sourced grains I am a proponent of "it all starts with the water." We here in the north state have some of the best water on earth. And when you put that together with a passion for brewing great beers Beer Utopia is the result. Taste and enjoy. The Hexagenia IPA is a blend of barley and hops to be proud of. Enjoy the fermented grains of Fall River... we did. They have also creatively woven in the menu from the sandwich shop next door. On this occasion we had grabbed a burger from The Habit burger joint across the parking lot. A great way to wash down one of my American favorites. In an unassuming strip mall near a Togo's and Safeway, this recent addition to the microbrew scene in the Redding area is worthy of a visit. The interior room is a bit sanitized for a late-night outing, but the patio is totally casual and makes good use of the warm summer nights. Hexagenia IPA is quite good. I ordered the Pacific Crest Pale - a bargain by SF standards at $4 a pint. read more

The atmosphere, with its local photography and rustic decor, largely reflects the hobbies and interests of the north state. It's a small establishment without having a cramped feel to it. The bartenders are all very polite, nicely dressed, and they actively look for customers to serve. The large furniture was a welcome find for my tall friend and a novelty for my short self. The beer was good (My favorite was the Hexegenia IPA, and I don't usualy take to IPAs very well); the prices were reasonable, and according to their facebook page, they often have specials for growler refills. Great place to try some local beer. People can sit inside and enjoy a beer and watch a sporting event on tv or sit outside on the patio. My only complaint with this beer pub is the smoking that they allow on the patio. One smoker out of the 20 people outside ruined the patio atmosphere for the other 19. Why must it be a smoking patio? Why can't it be a smoke free pub inside and outside? I hope Fall River decides that their pub is for enjoying their great brew rather than a place to light up a cigarette. read more

Definitely recommend stopping here if stopping in redding. Small local brewery with a really good selection of about 8 or 9 beers on tap. A pint is $4-6 and a growler is between $10-12. After being used to Bay Area prices these seem super reasonable for craft brew. No food fyi, but they have no problem with outside food. My favorites were the scotch ale and the NorCal pale ale. read more

This is probably my favorite place to grab beers. The beer is absolutely delicious, sweet laid back atmosphere and the staff is friendly.

This place holds a special place in my heart because it is where I met my soon-to-be husband! But aside from that, this is an awesome place to grab a brew (or a few). The bartenders are always nice and down for a chat if they're not too busy serving up the good stuff. For food, you'll have to go a couple doors down to Niu, and they will actually sometimes bring you your order without you having to go back when it's ready. Easily the best beer in Redding! They have staples that are always on tap, and they have beers that are seasonal. I love the beer named Hexagenia, it's a delicious IPA that is always on tap! I also really enjoy Kilty Pleasure, a great Scotch ale that is nice and malty. They don't offer food, but let you bring in outside food. My wife and I like to go to the Habit Burger which is a neighbor, and bring out burgers and fries into Fall River to enjoy a few beers! read more

Fall River's "Widowmaker" DIPA is one of my top 10 favorite beers of all time (I live about 20 minutes from Russian River and Lagunitas). I understand the gravity of what I'm about to say, but in my opinion, I'll take a Widowmaker over a Pliny (the elder), heady topper, 90 minute, hoptimum, hopslam, etc... I moved to Redding from Southern California before Fall River's tap house opened its doors. At the time there was only Wildcard Brewing Company that had a tasting room. I was eager to see another local craft brewery but I honestly did not expect to be enamored with the beer. The hophead that I am I was spoiled with the San Diego and Orange County breweries that had been popping up in the last decade. I also, since I'd been in the North State, hadn't tried a beer that compared to Hangar 24's Columbus IPA or Double, Ballast Point's Sculpin or Stone's Ruination or Bastard (you could probably throw in Green Flash, and Port Brewing IPAs as well). I dig Eel River's Earth Thirst and of course Hoptimum is hard to beat, but a beer from Redding?! no way, man. No way that Redding gets a competitive IPA with those heavyweights. Well, my taste buds were not prepared for the joy to be set upon them by way of the Hexagenia IPA. WOW. What an amazingly perfect IPA. All of the important qualities in an IPA are found in this beer and are even more pronounced. I compare it to Ranger IPA from New Belgium only I think this one's better. I would put my money on Hexagenia to win Gold at the Beer Cup and at this point I find that it is becoming my go-to IPA. What an amazing thing the guys from FRM made. It gets my vote for Best IPA. Go to the Tap House and try it for yourself. their other beers are superb as well. Great Place. Great new brewery. read more

We were doing a trip up North from Sacramento to Crescent City. We hit Eel River (excellent), Mad River (excellent), Lost Coast (couldn't believed I wasted my time to stop there) and Six Rivers (solid) all on the way up. On the way back we detoured out 299 to Redding specifically to hit the place. And it did not disappoint. Grabbed a sampler that tan from the Nor cal Blonde to the Widowmaker DIPA and could not have been happier! All the styles were very, very good. Loved this place. Amazing time here. Not of fan of IPAs, but they got it down. BF is a beer drinker and he, too, is a fan! But besides the beer, Megan, out server also made the night.
