I don't take much pride in giving places a 1-star, but this place sucks. I generally give a place 2 chances, one for the first try, and a second for a redemption. Both times here have failed me. First time around, I remember the quality was not good at all. Chewy bits of cartilege here and there. As a beleiver, I always give the benefit of a doubr for an off-night. While, I have not tried the falafel, and can't speak to the quality of that, I will say the Shawarma is not good. What I had was bitter, poor quality chicken meat, not juicy, and filled with volume over quality. It is one of the very, very few times we have tossed away the rest of my food as opposed to eating it. Truly a shame. I ordered from this restaurant multiple times, and unfortunately I had bad experiences more than once. The first issue happened with a DoorDash order when they forgot to include the yogurt drink I paid for. I let it go at the time, but later I called to explain the issue and the employee was already angry and rude on the phone for no reason. Another time, I called because I could not find the customization option online. I politely asked if they could replace the salad with beef since I was giving my credit card information over the phone. Instead of helping me, the employee became aggressive and said I was "giving him a hard time." He then threatened to cancel my order and told me not to order from there anymore. I also heard him yelling at another customer on the phone while I was speaking with him. This was very unprofessional and uncomfortable. This is now the second time I've experienced rude behavior from the same employee. Customers deserve respect, especially when they are being polite and simply asking questions about their order. I am writing this review for the owner or manager because this employee's attitude is hurting the business. If someone cannot speak respectfully to customers, they should not be answering the phone. This place doesn't look like much from the outside but it is a Harvard square staple! It's a very small place, I recommend take out but it's open till 3am! We stopped by at Felafel Corner during a quick stop at Harvard Square. I had heard the reminiscences from my fiancé during past visits and had to try it for myself. I ordered the lamb shawarma plate which also came with a side order of salad. The lamb was very well seasoned and the hot sauce was quite hot which I appreciated. The salad tasted very fresh, and paired nicely with the white sauce. And the portion sizes were very generous, enough for 2 meals. I appreciated the requirement for masks before entering the business, and there wasn't much room inside so you could only place an order for pickup. We came at a 10PM Saturday night. I love falafels and would try it out at every restaurant if they offer them. These falafels in particular were not my favorite. The texture feels denser inside where typically it's lighter; and for some reason it doesn't taste like garbanzo beans at all. It's lacking certain spices that come with authentic falafels. Total hole in the wall on a busy Cambridge street. However, as a self proclaimed shawarma connoisseur, I highly recommend this little falafel shop. It's unassuming and not exactly where you would go for a first date. There is no bathroom for customers so keep that in mind. Also parking is on the street or a nearby deck. The food however, is on point! I ordered the chicken shawarma and it was perfectly done. The meat, the pickles, the garlic paste (toum) was a marriage made in heaven. And for a great price too! I really recommend the sandwich over the rice plate. But I was really happy with what I got since this hard to find a good shawarma. The service was fast and they prepped everything fresh, the falafels are made to order so that they are perfect! Let's start with the good... the counter person was very nice and made sure to wear gloves during food prep. Now the not so good. The falafel didn't have a lot of flavor. And the pita tasted and felt like it was at least a few days old. Stale pita is a dealbreaker for me. If your namesake is "falafel" you had better at least get that signature item right. In addition, but less important, the counter is located at the top of a staircase. If more than 2 or 3 people are there, you need to wait on the stairs. Also, the place was not that clean. read more

It's honestly solid for the price and location!! The chicken shawarma plate is only $8.90, much cheaper than what the HSC food trucks charge, and honestly much better. I added a falafel ball because there's a $10 minimum for credit cards. I think some of the other reviewers are missing how many middle eastern cultures are different in how they prepare foods. This falafel is not a soft falafel, it is crunchy and almost chunky, but still delicious. The shawarma reminded me of Lebanese Taverna's in DC, but much more flavorful and fresher. It wasn't dry at all. The serving of choban is generous, as is the rice. You really can't find this much food in cambridge for this cheap anywhere else. The toum is great too, make sure you get it! I believe it was just the owner working, and he took care making my bowl, and asked what drizzles I wanted before pouring them, which I really appreciated. WOW, JUST WOOOOOOOW!!! We were in Boston for three days and we went to Falafel Corner every single day. They were the only thing open and right across the street from out hotel so we decided to give it a shot. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! They are open until 3am so if you're coming from a night out be aware that they might be sold out after your close out a cub or bar. I had the lamb shawarma wrap with the garlic and it was AMAZZZIING! I wish I had a taken a picture of it but just trust me, it was quite DELICIOUS! My boyfriend had his beef shawarma with garlic sauce and the spicy sauce. He can handle his spice quite well buuuuut this hot sauce had his nose running so be aware of that. As many people have already said, Falafel Corner's easy to miss, especially when late-night crowds from Charlie's Kitchen next door start spilling onto the sidewalk. With that said though, it's definitely worth a visit if you haven't been before--I really can't speak highly enough of this place. I don't frequent this place nearly as often as I did when I was living in Harvard Square, but every time I'm back in Cambridge, I try to get me one of the shawarma rollups (with hot sauce, if you can tolerate it--it's really not that bad). My go-to order is always the chicken shawarma, and on occasion, I get a lamb shawarma too, which is saying a lot, since I usually can't tolerate the taste of lamb. I can't speak on any of the other menu items, but that's only because I've never wanted to have anything else; the shawarma rollups are just that good. Sure, the chicken could probably be a bit more juicy, but it's fresh-shaved from the skewer, and the combination of the meat, diced tomatoes, intensely garlicky tahini, hot sauce, and lettuce is sensational. The place is open til 3 am almost every night, but indoor seating in the basement is limited, so it's really more of a carry-out sort of place. You'll rarely see a queue out the door, but when it happens, the line moves along reasonably quickly. While the ambience is nothing to write home about--you won't see any fancy wine lists, maître d's, or servers scraping crumbs off a white tablecloth here--I can't stress how flavorful the food is. The kicker: the food's actually affordable, and good value, which is saying a lot in a Harvard Square that's increasingly become ostentatious and inaccessible. read more

I'll be the judge of your establishment during this hour, sir!" came my reply, and feeling satisfied with myself, I reached forward to pump the bottle of free hand santizer set out for customer use. I apparently underestimated my own strength because the green gooey stuff lurched out of the bottle and puddled on my shirt just above my bellybutton. We placed our orders and claimed a table directly below the kitchen. Ten minutes later, my lamb kabob plate ($10.99) was in front of me. The plate was paper. For drinks, we went with tap water, which was served in environmentally-unfriendly styrofoam cups. The table rocked like a nursery. As lamb kabob plates go, the portion seemed designed for ambitious diners, and the taste was acceptable--not great. In fact, the lamb was exceptional only in so far as it lacked a lot of the heavy seasoning one usually finds in other falafel joints. I got some shawarma here after hearing some people mention it. They have a pretty wide variety of shawarma such as chicken, lamb, mixed, etc. They also have wraps and plates as options too. I went for the lamb shawarma plate, which came with salad, rice, spicy sauce and tzatziki sauce. The flavor was pretty good, slightly dry but the rice was decently flavored. They also gave some pita bread on the side as well. This is a small place, with very little seating (which I think is downstairs). I really don't write reviews, typically just read. But my food from Falafel Corner was so dissapointing that I felt it needed one. Shwarma: dry, seasoning good but really unpleasant to eat because of how dry it was Tahini sauce: completely flavorless and runny(comparable to a cup of cream) Hummus: palatable but none the less really bad in comparison to even store purchased and the side of hummus came with a scant few small pieces of pita, not any where near enough for multiple people or the amount of hummus provided Meat Pie: raw pastry dough it made it inedible Cucumber and tomato salad: old and not fresh, aka terrible Rice pilaf: nothing special, a bit under done Summary: will never order from here again. The first few bites were really good and the giant bits of garlic were fantastic (I wouldn't eat this on a first date though), but, bread and butter pickles? What? And where was the mint and spices? Still they had lots of other options I didn't try and the kabobs looked delicious. The guys here were super friendly and they seemed efficient and the Middle Eastern music was a nice touch. It's a very casual joint, though. Take out and a few small tables for eating in, and, as such, you'd expect them to be faster. We waited over 10 minutes for a wrap and a meat pie. Understandable, for kabobs that haven't been cooked yet, but these just needed a quick toasting. Whenever I have waited for the 66 bus in Harvard Sq I've wish for it to be a meal time, I was hungry, or I had more time because I have waited to try out Falafel Corner for a long time. Seeing streams of people going in and out meant that it had to be good, so I knew I had to experience it for myself. The opportunity finally presented itself one night so I got a falafel roll-up meal there. The meal includes a roll-up, fries and a can of soda. The fries were ready a few minutes after the roll-up so the guy brought them downstairs, which was really nice since it was pretty busy there. Maybe I hyped the whole thing up in my head because I was not that impressed. It was good but I think I wanted more spice or a different pita. The roll-up is in a thin pita/wrap and put on the grill once it is assembled. The falafel was tender and good separately but together I felt that the roll up was plain. I like how this place is simple. Menu and ordering up the stairs and seating is downstairs. Falafel and eating it does not need to be complicated. I'm going to try this place again. Maybe get a chicken roll-up or see if there is some hot sauce. But the time I was done with my meal I was way too full for dessert so next time I'll plan to get some baklava to go. read more
