We'd like some potato with our salt and pepper, please.

We tried Falafel Place years ago shortly after they first opened and weren't impressed. After our usual go-to falafel/shawarma place wasn't delivering this weekend we decided to give them another try. Won't be fooled again. Shawarma: gristle-filled and not flavorable. Falafel: fine, nothing outstanding. Baba ganoush: tasted like boiled eggplant puree. Very underseasoned, lacking the distinctive "char' flavor and more importantly any lemon. Rice: overcooked and soggy?? Fries: Inedible. It's like all of the salt and pepper that could have gone into other dishes were piled onto the fries. We had to *scrape* the salt and pepper off of each fry and even then we ditched them, tossing almost the entire order in the trash. The picture doesn't even do it justice, they were *crunchy* with salt and pepper. Because there are always some silver linings, I will say they delivered quickly (went through their site, rather than GH or UE or a third party) and they are not expensive. However, when you're tossing half of what you receive it doesn't really matter how cheap it is.

Got delivery and it was delicious. Chicken shawarma plate (over rice and salad), with some extras for $1 each. The hot sauce is fire. Nice, hearty, plate of middle eastern comfort food!

I got the Lamb Shawarma Plate $14.50 (includes $1 of hummus) and its enough food for 3 meals. It's delicious, I recommend the lamb so much. It's freshly cooked to the plate. The lamb plates come with a spicy sauce and a white sauce. I prefer eating it with hummus the most. A side is plenty to eat the plate. The Baklava is THE BEST around and I wish I got more than just one piece. The side of fries is a large amount for $3.99.

So I haven't actually tried the namesake of this restaurant, but they do serve a decent lamb shawarma and kafta kabob plate over a generous portion of rice with a refreshing cucumber salad on the side. It also comes with pita bread and strangely addicting tahini sauce. The meat itself was generously portioned and seasoned but tasted slightly dry and chewy. However, the overall plate was enough for two meals which I appreciated given that Boston restaurants are often stingy, and the price didn't break my bank. The place itself only has a few tables though and could use better ventilation. It's more of a takeaway option unless you don't mind smelling like food.

All street parking and we had to circle around to find a spot so plan ahead. We got a red wine and the flawless victory cocktail. I got to try a couple wines before committing to a glass. My partner loved his cocktail. Super well balanced and really unique combo of flavors. Both drinks paired well with all our food too. Zucchini pancakes (2/5) - the only miss. The pancakes were not crispy at all and ate very mushy. The carrot curry was delish but all the flavors together with the raita didn't really do it for me. White bean hummus (4/5) - amazing flavor and the little sesame ring it comes with was yummy. The texture of the hummus could have been smoother though. Sugar snaps (5/5) - perfect sweet and salty balance and really great texture from the quinoa. Good creaminess too. Octopus souvlaki (5/5) - well charred octopus and tender. The flavors were rich in flavor. Yellow split pea was a nice creamy base. Revani snack cake (5/5) - we almost didn't get dessert but glad we did! It a citrus pound cake with a pineapple glaze and a spiced macadamia crunchy topping. Served chilled. Very yummy and not too heavy. Overall very happy we tried this place. It's pricey for what you get but nice for a special occasion.

The menu changes often, which makes me wish I lived closer so I could visit regularly. We ordered quite a few dishes, and the portions were perfect for sharing. The fresh bread was an amazing start to the meal, and the sugar snap peas were a standout. Since the menu is always evolving, my recommendation is to ask your server what the chef is most excited about and order it. You really can't go wrong. This was a memorable dining experience, and I hope my next visit won't be too far away.
