(Last visited 4/7/2025.) In Boston on business and my hotel is in Revere, but I'm coming from the west so I wanted to stop somewhere to eat that was on the way to where I was staying. I used my handy-dandy Yelp Boston app and landed on Nour cafe! I saw that they had #shawarma and that it was some of the best in the area, so here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is literally a gas station, but there's nothing wrong with that. You pull up to the Shell, get some gas or park at a pump that's out of order or one of the available parking spots off to the right, but this place isn't really designed for you to dine in. Lol. Yes, you can sit in and eat off to the left side, but they really want you to leave. Once inside you make a right and above the drink coolers are a series of TVs that show you the menu. Continue to your right and you'll see the kitchen where all of the magic happens. Simple setup here. Service: There isn't any. You walk up to the counter, order your food, pay for it where you'd normally pay for gas then wait for them to call your name. My food was ready in 10 minutes. Food: I went with the mixed grill plate because I just FELT IN MY SOUL that I'd get a WHOLE LOT of food. Boy was I right! Lol. So the mixed grill plate comes with chicken shawarma, steak shawarma, ground lamb kabob, rice, a big pita, pickled vegetables, a slaw, a grilled onion mixture and hummus. Wow. Everything was SO good, SO seasoned and SO filling. I literally could eat on this for 2 and maybe 3 meals! I broke the pita into 4 smaller pieces and then made mini shawarmas with different meats in them! Lol. It was a bit messy, but you can totally eat this with a fork and knife without a problem. The food was excellent. Value: $16.99 is what I paid and when I got to my hotel then opened the lid to see all of that food I was just so blown away. How did they make any money by giving me all of this?! Lol. Astounded. Everything on the menu is cheap and there were many things under $10.00. So, let me start by saying that the locals turned me towards this place because, from the outside, it's a gas station cafe. I have driven by dozens of times on the way to Logan and never gave it a second look. But when the locals that I work with (many of whom are ethnic Halal followers) go here and suggest it when I buy them lunch, I had to try it... First of all, it's not dirty...it's BUSY! Nour Cafe is a beacon of light for anyone wanting good, fresh, truly ethnic Mediterranean fusion meals on the North Shore. This is a long overdue review since I ate here way over a year ago, but I wanted to shout out how good the food here was when I was visiting friends in Boston. I still think about how it was some of the best Middle Eastern food I've ever had! Literally everything in my mixed shawarma plate was perfection from the tender well-spiced meat to the juicy grilled tomato and the pickles that perfectly balanced the richness of the lovely hummus. Hands down some of the best Arab / Mediterranean food we've had in the Boston area. That's without taking into account the price. We had the mixed grill (comes with hummus pita rice and salad), tabouleh, and a date mamoul. Was enough to comfortably feed two people. The food at Nour Cafe was very good in terms of taste and presentation. Their tahini sauce was excellent and paired well with the meat and rice dishes we ordered. All the food tasted fresh. Portions and princes were also fair. I recommend the mixed grill plate and the shawarma sandwiches. All that being said, I didn't realize that Nour Cafe is housed within a gas station convenience store (similar to a coffee shop like Dunkin Donuts might be in the Northeast). One of the gentleman preparing my meal, upon walking in, was wearing a shell gas station shirt which was a bit unsettling. I'm sure they are taking the necessary precautions to keep a clean and safe environment, but had I known this was the case beforehand, I may have chosen to dine elsewhere. Don't let the fact that this place is connected to a shell gas station discourage you. As a matter of fact if you order from here on Uber Eats it won't cross your mind because me and my family have done just that over five times and each time we have had an excellent experience. The portion sizes are huge you will not be hungry for quite awhile afterwards. I particularly love the Rice , the chicken, the tabouleh , the yogurt salad, and their hummus. Especially the last two to dip with the pitta bread they give you. BTW if you order an extra side order of their Pitta, you'll get more than what constitutes a side order. This is as close as a Syrian shawarma can taste. The fiancé and I took a last minute trip to Boston back in January for my birthday. It was about 11PM at night and this was the only place that was open and close to our Airbnb. When we arrived there, we noticed it was a gas station. At first we thought we had the wrong address, but then noticed a mini-restaurant inside the convenient store. Believe it or not, this is the cleanest convenient store I have ever been to in my 28 years on this earth. The store owner is SUCH A DELIGHT! The minute we walked in, he gave us free soup and 2 grape leaves to try before we placed our orders. It reminded me of the hospitality back in the Middle East and how Muslims/Middle Easterners treat their guests with such respect and kindness. It's was truly heartwarming to finally see that in the west. We both got chicken shawarma sandwiches and my goodness this took me straight back to Syria in 2008. The authenticity is crazy adequate and the spices used were on point. The store also has a few other Middle Eastern grocery products for sale. We picked up labne and Syrian cheese to take with us back to the Airbnb. Customer serivce is great and my first time they didnt give me my grape leaves next time i was just casually checking my order and mentioned what happened and they immediately gave me a order of grape leaves for free. We have had is twice where we ordered all appetizers seperately and ppl made their own wraps at home. The chicken shawarma was indeed better than the kafta. This was probably the least flavorful kafta I have ever had- there was just a lack of spices. Furthermore, they overdo it with the pickles (both sandwiches), there were just too many and it overpowered the rest of the sandwich. This is one of those little deceiving spots. It's hidden inside a gas station convenience store. You would never think that when you go in to pay for your gas you walk into middle eastern heaven. Well they do sell a good variety of Middle Eastern goods. The heaven part comes when you look over to the right and see the kitchen. The lamb kebabs were cooked exactly how I ordered them not to mention that prior to me ordering the lamb kebab plate the gentleman behind the counter who was going to cook them ask me how I would like them cooked and he cook them to perfection. FYI I went with medium. The lamb kebabs were served over rice which was the bomb, it also came with a small salad and a bit of baba ghannouj all for $13.99. They also serve side orders of most everything. My favorites are the Middle Eastern yogurt with cucumber and the baba ghannouj. I've also tried the wraps. My favorite would be the falafel wrap which has a good amount of falafel some Middle Eastern pickled cucumbers and radish along with a few other items, it's a great wrap. All the pricing is actually I think on the lower side for the quality of the food that you get. We ordered Nour on Uber Eats for pick-up. I definitely didn't expect it to be in a gas station! I ordered a chicken shawarma pita sandwich and my husband got the beef. I also ordered one of the special cookies online, seeing the photo I thought I would get several, but it was just one! One cookie for $5, made in Montreal--definitely not worth it. Had those when I was deployed in Kuwait and really had a taste for them so decided to come in and see if they were any good. Really nice gentleman helped me and was very helpful when I asked about each menu item. I made an order through the phone and I went to pick it up, I asked the lady at the Cashier and she pointed me to my order, I went to get, then the Old guy whose making the wraps got mad at me, I explaned it's not my fault and the lady admitted her mistake.
