Lovely addition to Malden Center - delicious fatoush salad with tons of interesting vegies followed by the mixed grill - really flavorful rice, moist chicken and lamb cubes along with a grilled tomato, bell pepper and onion. I had a taste for Lebanese food so I tried This place. I got the lamb chops, which came with rice and a few grilled vegetables. I got takeout. I should've known that lamb chops for $18.99 would have minimal lamb. There wasn't much meat and the chops were very bony- way more meat than bones. The rice was fine and the grilled veggies were fine. The staff was also really nice and good service for take out. I might try this place one more time for the chicken, but never the lamb chops. read more

Hubby and I were craving Mediterranean food and fortunately stumbled across Levant in Malden on Yelp. Best find in a long time! The name on the building threw us off at first, but if you go to the right street address you're there (#12). Really great guy behind the register that took our order, made our food and delivered it. We ordered a baba ghanouj and eggplant moutabal as apps (came with a generous side of pita slices) and split a chicken shawarma sandwich. The flavors jumped off the plate (the tahini was SO fresh and yummy). Plenty of food for 2, and at $18 total we were definitely the winners tonight. We ate inside, small and clean. Will definitely be back to try even more apps (and a Greek salad next time). Highly recommend you stop by--also as a bonus nice walk up and down Pleasant street after dinner! read more

Ate an impromptu lunch here on a weekday. Our server was great and she really helped us with some of the dishes on the menu. The restaurant is a good size, pretty clean and can easily accommodate big groups. For appetizer we had Hummus and Baba Ghanoug. Hummus was good and the Baba Ghanoug was just amazing. The tahini made it creamy and the grilled eggplant gave it a wonderful flavor. The Eggplant Motabbal was meh and we weren't a big fan. My husband also tried Chicken Liver and in spite of good flavors he said that the entire dish was way too sour for his taste. They may have used the lemon to cut down the gamey flavor but it overpowered the dish completely. For main, I had their falafel plate which came with this amazingly flavored delicious side of rice. The falafel themselves were a little on the dry side. My husband had a meat dish that he said was spectacular. Unfortunately we do not remember the name. For dessert, we had Halawa With Cheese and it was tasty but had overpowering taste of rose water. Overall the service and the meal was good and I would not hesitate to dine here again. 3.5 stars! read more

The sign outside has the wrong name (Darna), but Levant Delight was a great find. Some of the best Middle Eastern food I've had this side of the Atlantic. The msakhan rolls (chicken, sumac, onion) were really memorable. As were the eggplant fatteh, and lamb kabsa. Can't wait to go back to try other things on the menu. read more

I have eaten a few different items now and find the appetizers are just right for sharing, the sandwiches (which are pita wraps) are perfectly portioned for a satisfying meal. I appreciate that the menu is straightforward while still offering a wide variety of goodies. Really comforting, feel good food. The owner is very friendly and every meal comes with a delicious mushroom cream soup as a starter. The two main course were really delicious and it feels like homemade kind of food. We came on Sunday so We had the chance to order the Mansaf, an authentic Jordanian dish. The mix grill was an excellent choice since we were able to try variety of meat that comprise kofti, kabab and chickens. Don't miss the best beet cold appetizer and fattosh salad. We concluded our meal by ordering konafa and Halava cheese Reham is so friendly, knowledgeable and professional. She offered us an amazing experience while were are Darrna. If you coming by car, meter parking is easy to fine on both sides of Pleasant street. Extensive selection of small bites including tabbouleh and baba gannoush. Unfortunately the small plates all have to be purchased individually so there is no way to try a sampling. They're too expensive to get several as a veg meal ($4-6) but the portions are pretty big. Inside the owners have done the best they can with what they have, there is some nice art and it's clean, but it's an old space and not particularly inviting. Delicious little Mediterranean restaurant in the heart of Malden. You might overlook the unassuming windowfront formerly home to Darrna restaurant if not for the busy halal market next door, but you would be missing out on excellent food at very reasonable prices. The falafel are crispy yet tender, the grape leaves minty and lemony in balsamic marinade, the chicken sumac flavorfully spiced (though a bit too salty), and all the wraps are of good size. The muhammara, baba ghanoush, and taboulah appetizers are fresh and generously portioned, with enough to share or save. Bolder options can be hit or miss: I was pleasantly surprised to find the eggplant fatah has a crunch and flavor profile like loaded nachos, but the spicy potatoes were merely greasy tots in light sauce. The desserts are a special treat, sweet and delicate; I particularly enjoyed the Lebanese Nights with its velvety flan-like texture and subtle rosewater flavor. read more

Eating at Daarna was an interesting experience as I rarely eat Mediterranean food. There were a lot of things on the menu that I had no idea what they were, our server was kind enough to explain what they were but I would have preferred to have the descriptions in the menu. It was a hit or miss experience. My husband and I both got the mushroom soup (I didn't know if this is truly a Mediterranean dish or not), it turned out to be regular cream of mushroom soup. There were big chunks of mushroom in an extremely creamy but bland soup. The mushroom seemed to be grilled and tasted good, but I was unable to stomach that soup. I also ordered a dish that our server described as three different fried cheeses. It turned out to look like egg rolls but filled with just cheese and some green specks, perhaps some herbs. I'm usually able to eat a lot of cheese, but this cheese didn't seem to have a lot of flavor and I was overwhelmed with grease. However, our lamb chop entrée was delicious. The lamb a little slightly overcooked for my liking, but very well-seasoned. It is also a steal at $18 for 3 lamb chops and vegetables on the side. Our server was really nice and gave us some complimentary pita bread with hummus, eggplant (maybe baba ganoush?) and a white unidentifiable dip. They were all delicious! So I believe the food here can be good, it's just really depends on whether you know what to order. They have a buffet every Saturday night and I am interested to try that as I think they would feature their signature dishes then! One odd thing to note, when our server served us our pita bread, she noticed that there was some olive oil on it and picked up a piece of pita with her bare heads and then put it back in the basket and served it to us! I've wanted to try this place for the longest time and I'm so glad I did! We ordered a lamb kebab and the daily special, Falafel sandwich (both stellar and yummy options). They also gave us a complimentary pita bread with various dipping sauces (eggplant based, hummus and pickled vegetables) as an appetizer! My favorite was probably the hummus, it was so tasty! While we were enjoying our main dish, they gave us a complimentary salad dish which had tomatoes, quinoa, cilantro and a bunch of other yummy things. When we were done with our dishes, they have us orange slices as dessert which was really nice of them! In the front page of the menu, they describe the restaurant as a place to go to when you miss home cooked food, which was exactly what we felt like with the amount of food they gave us on the House. Oh, so we had a TERRIBLE experience with this restaurant and would advise folk to take business elsewhere. They cancelled half of our order and never told us, we only found out when 5 items were missing from the delivery. We called back and they were extremely dismissive and rude. We were calm in trying to work with them and she eventually put us on hold and walked away- we left the phone on in the background to see if they would pick up and eventually hung up after 30 minutes. Honestly the food was not good either and we ended up throwing two of the appetizers away. We will not be coming back and would advise you stay away as well. read more

Levant Delight is great. Food here is top notch and the owner is accommodating and friendly and makes the dishes himself. The mostly-Lebanese fare is delicious and (when in the mood to indulge) the desserts are quite nice as ell. I eat here once or twice a week. There is something for almost everyone too: though the menu is full meat-centric dishes, there is plenty for vegetarians as well. So, whether eating an all out meaty feast or strictly vegetarian, the food here is lovingly and excellently made. Prices for large portions are also noteworthy. This restaurant is Levant Delight and it opened very recently--just in the past few months. It is not "Daarna" but a new place opened by a completely different owner in the same location. There are some legacy reviews still in place so do not confuse the two. The new place is fabulous and the owner a nice and earnest person. read more
