Baba Ghanouj, Eggplant Motabbal and pita
Dee S.

Hubby and I were craving Mediterranean food and fortunately stumbled across Levant in Malden on Yelp. Best find in a long time! The name on the building threw us off at first, but if you go to the right street address you're there (#12). Really great guy behind the register that took our order, made our food and delivered it. We ordered a baba ghanouj and eggplant moutabal as apps (came with a generous side of pita slices) and split a chicken shawarma sandwich. The flavors jumped off the plate (the tahini was SO fresh and yummy). Plenty of food for 2, and at $18 total we were definitely the winners tonight. We ate inside, small and clean. Will definitely be back to try even more apps (and a Greek salad next time). Highly recommend you stop by--also as a bonus nice walk up and down Pleasant street after dinner!

Ate an impromptu lunch here on a weekday. Our server was great and she really helped us with some of the dishes on the menu. The restaurant is a good size, pretty clean and can easily accommodate big groups. For appetizer we had Hummus and Baba Ghanoug. Hummus was good and the Baba Ghanoug was just amazing. The tahini made it creamy and the grilled eggplant gave it a wonderful flavor. The Eggplant Motabbal was meh and we weren't a big fan. My husband also tried Chicken Liver and in spite of good flavors he said that the entire dish was way too sour for his taste. They may have used the lemon to cut down the gamey flavor but it overpowered the dish completely. For main, I had their falafel plate which came with this amazingly flavored delicious side of rice. The falafel themselves were a little on the dry side. My husband had a meat dish that he said was spectacular. Unfortunately we do not remember the name. For dessert, we had Halawa With Cheese and it was tasty but had overpowering taste of rose water. Overall the service and the meal was good and I would not hesitate to dine here again. 3.5 stars!

Delicious food for a really amazing price! I have eaten a few different items now and find the appetizers are just right for sharing, the sandwiches (which are pita wraps) are perfectly portioned for a satisfying meal. I appreciate that the menu is straightforward while still offering a wide variety of goodies. Really comforting, feel good food. The owner is very friendly and every meal comes with a delicious mushroom cream soup as a starter. If you've come to this location when it used to be Darrna, you're in for a pleasant surprise as the service and affordability have skyrocketed now that it is Levant Delight.

This is my favorite Egyptian restaurant! Food was well made, quality was superb, and the hospitality can't be beat. Felt like home. Will definitely be back!

Consistently excellent. One of my favorite spots around the area. Whenever I feel like a great,…read moreindulgent meal, I tend to go for Halal Eatz. High-effort, well-executed and conceived takes on middle eastern and American food - lamb over rice, falafel, burgers, hot chicken sandwiches, hummus. Chicken is their strongest suit, in my estimation. They do amazing chicken tenders and chicken wings, paired with a tasty sauce and breaded for a really killer crunch. I love em. Same goes for their chicken burgers, chicken over rice combos, and chicken wraps. Lamb here is great, as is the falafel. I haven't had a bad meal with either. I tried their hummus on a recent trip and thought it was good. Nothing mind-blowing but better than the average. Also want to call out their waffle fries and onion rings, which are perfectly done. I love em to death. Whatever my main is, my side will typically be either the chicken tends or the waffle fries. For the negatives, their non-burger beef offerings suffer from the beef having lots of chewy bits in them. For example, their steak and cheese should be a sure thing, but every bite had a bit chewy bit I had to stop eating to pull out. They also overdo it on the mayo/sauce for that sandwich. So yeah, avoid their steak bomb and steak and cheese. I haven't tried their milkshakes but I am very sure they do a great job. Halal Eatz is one of those places you can usually trust to do a new item very well.

The burgers were juicy and cooked perfectly and weren't overly salty either. There was a nice amount of grilled onions in my smash burger too. I love waffle fries and couldn't resist when I saw them on their menu. I was greeted with a warm welcome walking in and the cashier seemed genuinely appreciative of my business. Went back a second time a few days later for a double classic cheeseburger and another cookies n cream milkshake. The restaurant is small but has a few dining tables and clean. The free hot tea is a nice touch! Halal Eats is located just a few miles from the Burlington Mall and is well worth the short drive!

It came to mind when I was craving Indian food this evening and surpassed my expectations. It was quiet inside, so very easy to hold a conversation. Not overwhelming or overstimulating the way most restaurants are typically. I felt I needed to try something other than my typical tikka masala, and the waitress recommended the lamb curry. It came with a generous portion of rice, and we also ordered naan. The naan came out warm and flavorful, and my lamb was sweet, spicy, and delicious. I filled up on rice simply so I could have some lamb left to take home. Otherwise, I would have polished it off very quickly. The water is not iced, which was perfectly fine, as I prefer my water to not be overly chilled. I ordered a mango lassi to finish off my meal and it had a rich mango taste, though was thinner than most lassis I have had. This is neither a positive nor a negative; and in fact, I did manage to drink it all without procuring a stomach ache. So that is a win. Our waitress was attentive, though perhaps not friendly. She took our order correctly and efficiently and split the check for us at the end. I would most certainly return and am eager to try their other dishes.

Restaurant appears dated and in need of some updates. Service was good.

I absolutely loved my meal at Istanbul Diner in Saugus! I ordered the Chicken Shish plate and an…read moreeggplant dip with pita, and the seasoning was delicious. The pita deserves a special mention: thin and crispy, yet soft at the same time. It was unforgettable! I would come back for that bread alone, but the whole meal gave me plenty of reasons to return. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and very spacious, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Another huge plus for me was the easy parking. I had wanted to try several Turkish restaurants, but after driving around looking for parking, I would get discouraged and give up. Finding this place on Route 1 in Saugus made all the difference--I could park without any trouble and enjoy my meal. Wonderful food, lovely people, and a comfortable place to eat. I'm so glad I found it, and I'll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

This along with Ali Baba was recommended by an Uber driver from Morocco I met recently. He was spot…read moreon...this place offers very enjoyable food without the hype and ridiculous overpricing found in many allegedly "Middle Eastern" places closer to the center that cater more to tourists. It sits along the industrial drabness of Route 1, but once you step inside the place has vibrant bright colors and a spacious, airy vibe. There's no table service---you order at the counter, and a lovely young woman brings you the food prepared in the kitchen. The wait was not bad---if it comes straight out there is a high likelihood it's not freshly made, so this is actually a good sign. You are also asked to bus your own utensils and plates/bowls afterwards---I guess they have to minimize labor costs in order to keep their prices reasonable. The food itself is among the best Mediterranean I've ever had. Grape leaves, cucumber yogurt, hummus and baba ghanoush were top-notch. Nice touch: free "Turkish tea" you can serve yourself next to the counter in little cups! I was happy that it was not pre-sweetened like the super-sweet mint tea you are given everywhere you go in Turkey. Just two somewhat odd things: they were a bit stingy with the bread (warm, delicious pita that might actually have been freshly made) that came with our Appetizer Sampler, and also a bit stingy with the lemon wedges that you usually get in abundance at this type of Mediterranean food place, which is essential for tenderizing and bring out the flavor of the grilled meats. I liked the grilled lamb the most because it was the most tender, though I wish it had more fat and more of that "gamey" lamb flavor. I did find the chicken and beef a little bit overcooked---but those of you who prefer your meats "well done" will no doubt enjoy it. And you do get a nice mustard-mayo dip that you can apply to the meat as well as the fries. Everything comes with an ample side of both white rice and orange bulger rice, so you definitely won't leave hungry! Anyway, certainly plan to go back to explore more of the menu!
