Very disappointing experience at Fait Maison. We were a group of 9 people and unfortunately both the food quality and service fell below expectations. The main courses arrived around 5 minutes after the starters were served. We asked the staff to wait until we finished the starters, so they took the mains back. When they returned the dishes later, the food was cold. We then requested fresh meals, but the food came back again within less than 10 minutes, which honestly made it seem reheated rather than freshly prepared. Dishes like okra and biryani normally require proper preparation time. The biryani itself was especially disappointing -- mostly rice with only a few small cubes of chicken. Later in the evening we were told that last orders were at 9:30pm. When we asked for drinks, we were told only tea and karak were available, then shortly afterwards informed that even karak could not be served because the person handling the machine had already left. That honestly felt unprofessional and poorly managed. We were also repeatedly reminded about a 2-hour table policy, despite being a large group and despite the restaurant being nearly empty at the time. To be fair, one waiter genuinely tried his best to help and the service charge was removed, which we appreciated. However, overall the experience did not reflect the standard or reputation the restaurant promotes. read more

Not far from the Gloucester Station in the middle of other restaurants, you will find a well decorated restaurant that can be anything you want it to be rain or shine. It feels like you're in a garden outside, but you're inside their dining area that is dressed with dried flowers of a warm pastel palette. It is beautifully decorated. Great service. Our waiter got to us quickly and without actually telling him anything about our time constraints we were able to order and get our hot drinks shortly after. Noemi got her nutella and banana croissant shortly after. The Spanish Latte was amazing... it's a latte with a lower layer of condensed milk that you have to stir in. I had Ful Gazawi and my partner the Shakshuka. Right after being seating there was a birthday celebration with staff presenting a dish with a candle, some very loud recorded music and a lot of commotion. We were served very quickly and the food was delicious. I had ordered a poached egg with my Ful, but it did not arrive. I reminded my waiter... twice... about the egg. He assured me it was coming. This is such a beautiful cafe. I happened to stumble in a rainy day and was so happy to get a table. (When I was leaving there was quite a line outside) Then waitstaff were lovely and very helpful and the clientele were a diverse group. I think the location by the station help bring in all kinds of coffee lovers. I ordered a latte and San Sebastien cake. Both were a perfect balance for each other. I would have loved to have gotten a Turkish coffee, but it was already 3pm and I needed to sleep through the night lol I can't wait to come back and try more things. read more

We stopped here for tea after not being able to get into a preferred hotel tea, per our hotel's recommendation. We were without a reservation, and the place was full of "middle eastern religious" types at every table. The waiter told us that there would be a table in 45 minutes. The restaurant is cute from the outside and most people would probably consider it overly decorated. The pretty outside decor did not match the cloud of outside smoke being created by the tables of men sitting at the outside tables. We were anticipating a traditional British tea and only learned after we had ordered and received our food that the restaurant has a "Palestinian influence," thus the nontraditional food. Seeing the "middle eastern religious" crowd that dominated the restaurant, we should have done our homework. The food was good but not great. The sandwiches tasted mass produced and not fresh. Normally we start tea with a champagne toast and found out that there was no alcohol on the menu (back to the "middle eastern religious" types) which was very disappointing and our waiter was very apologetic. He was very good at his job. As I mentioned, the place was packed and very loud and we were unable to hear each other across the table. We stumbled across this quaint restaurant as we were searching for a different restaurant that happened to be closed for holiday and Trip Advisor was not privy to that. What a find! The owner, Yvonne, stands at the doorway, welcoming everyone with a smile and efficiently running the floor. We were seated quickly. The staff were all very friendly and professional. The coffee was delicious. I had the cafe con leche and it was perfect. The food was AMAZING! The hamsa was so delicious. My first time trying that dish and Yvonne knew I wasn't sure how to eat this, but she subtly aided me as she told me I had made one of the best choices on the menu. My partner had the Hummus Om Waleed and it was also excellent. The food was flavorful and seasoned so well. I'll be disappointed going back home and not able to have this again. The experience was worth trying something off the beaten path. I'm very happy the other restaurant was closed. I'd love to eat here again before leaving London. Such a cute and lovely shop! I visited London during the Christmas holidays and went to this cafe on Christmas Eve which was great because they were one of the only places open late that night. My whole family and I got different desserts that were all delicious! My personal favorite was the "Club Cookie" which was a chocolate chip cookie filled with ice cream and Turkish cotton candy with chocolate sauce drizzled on top. AMAZING! The service was a little slow, but I would absolutely go again! It's a great place if you're just in the mood for grabbing dessert and other sweets treats and drinks.
