    Schnitzel Holstein
    Zacharias P.

I very much enjoyed my evening at the Delaunay. The restaurant is in the style of a grand European cafe and has a relaxed but formal ambiance. The menu has a varied selection, but I went for the veal Schnitzel Holstein with sides of potatoes and pickled cucumbers. The food was very tasty. The services was very professional and courteous. After dinner we enjoyed some coffee and a delicious Black Forest gateaux. All pastries and cakes are made on premises.

Location in theaters' area, booking better. Perfect time is 3pm -5pm for the tourists. Really British style, bellboy, reception, service, foods, and cleaning toilets. Decorating a little bit luxury old British style. You can also take a opera after tea time,

Came here after seeing the Tina Turner musical at the Aldwych Theatre next door. Ironically, the food here is native to Tina Turner's current country, Switzerland as well as Alpine France, Germany, and Austria but Switzerland is right in the center and includes both German and French speakers. The food and drinks here are quite affordable for the ambience, what they offer, and location . The Stiegl beers (we had both Goldbraü and Weisse) were also good. Later we had Black Stok cider which was also good but not on the menu online. The menu differed a bit from what is now online and included both a meat and vegetarian fondue option and we ordered the vegetarian one. We also got the Smoked Trout & Endive Salad. Still hungry, we ordered the Paris Mushroom & Thyme Tartes Flambee. Dessert which was Black Forest Gâteau which was a big hit. What was nice about our honeymoon is we often found the best places randomly without reservations. Despite it being the first day of the Queen's Jubilee holiday, we easily got a table outside at this popular place.

Fantastic breakfast. His: eggs benedict. Mine: fluffy pancakes with fruit compote. Every bite delicious! Exceptional service, as always. We will return

Everything was delicious. Almond croissant was heavenly. There are two spots- we ate at The Counter and Bar. (Good to know if your visiting the area.)

This is a really unusual place. It's the only "Mittel European " place I've ever been outside Mittel Europe. Elegant and classy, it's full of celebs etc. We were the humblest people in the place. Service was impeccable. We had to send back the wine which was corked and they were fine about it. My Wienerschnitzel was fabulous. My sister's calves liver just as good. My brother went for the Chateaubriand (no surprise there) with Bearnaise. Outstanding. Other menu items included Stroganoff, goulash etc. It really reminded us of being back in Vienna. Not cheap but well worth it.

    Great appetizer!

It's nice to have a late night option for post-theatre dining. The Delauney has a peaceful and elegant feel - a great place go relax with friends. The Stroganoff was excellent. It's not made in the style often found in the US (lots of brown gravy and sour cream) but with a central European flavor - think redder and spicier. The schnitzel was solid and quite a sizeable portion. I also highly recommend the crumble - the vanilla sauce and the brown sugary goodness on top made for a delightful mix.

Apple Strudel - World Class Tasty

No reason to order anything but the rump of lamb. We had other dishes, but the lamb was amazingly well prepared and so delicious. The other standout was the Apple strudel. The wine list was largely Austrian - so, stay away from the reds - just not worth the price of admission. Beautiful old school space. Best for Sunday lunch if you can score the reservation.

The Afternoon Tea was (19.95) and you can order one to share between two people. We opted to gave an afternoon tea and a cream tea (9.95) to have extra cakes and an extra pot of tea to share between two people. Reservations are highly recommended. The staff were very patient and explained to us all the options. They even took more of our anniversary and provided a marzipan/chocolate decoration wishing us a happy anniversary. The cakes and snacks were delicious and tea was excellent especially on a gloomy London day. The atmosphere was fancy but the tea was relatively affordable compared to other options in London. I highly recommend coming here fora tea experience!

The food and vibe here was on point! Loved the cozy brasserie feel and all the flavors were incredible. The service is what is holding up a pure 5 star experience. They seem to have forgotten us many many times. From getting wine orders or bringing us bread or checking in on our cocktails, it was a bit of a mess. We had to stay on top of the servers ourselves the whole night. Not fun. But the food was tastyAF! Even the freaking bread, holy moly, that was a damn good baguette with butter! Loved the pierogis, only wish portion size was a bit larger. Mussels were very good. And nice beef tartare. Would definitely come back again! Just hope we have a bit better of a service visit!

One of the many places in London to get a sitdown breakfast. The coffee was great, the bread basket for the most part perfect: the butter croissants and almond croissants were a dream, but the toast was a bit off and rubbery. Butter and jam/marmalade to sweeten the deal for a durable start into the day.

Listen up people. This place has some tasty German and French options. And here's the good news-you can be as loud as you want because it's so noisy no one will hear you! The schnitzel was good-- especially the lamb. And the stroganoff was delish. Broccoli was a fine side. The side salad and the tomato salad were good enough. Service was speedy once they figured out we were here. So yep. Do the Delaunay.

Coming here was the highlight of my time spent in London. The dining room is beautiful dark wood that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time for a moment. My friend and I split the afternoon tea and every single item was delicious. The chamomile and the Delaunay blend were both stellar as well. We felt oh so posh and had a marvelous time.

Although the size of the omelette itself was quite small, it comes with two slices of bread to fill you up. // Tea Smoked Salmon (£10.50) - 2 stars Contrary to the dish's name, the salmon was actually served baked, rather than smoked. I would have preferred the latter on an eggs Benedict, as it turned out to be quite bland. The English muffins also lacked that extra crunch.

I've been looking forward to visiting Duck & Waffle for quite some time. The views are incredible,…read morethe space itself is striking, and on paper it promises that perfect London mix of skyline, late-night energy, and elevated comfort food. Unfortunately, our experience was soured before it even had a chance to begin. My girlfriend and I walked in excited, completely amicable, simply hoping to head upstairs for a bite and drinks. We were greeted by the doorman with an immediate, dismissive "Are you good?" -- not in a welcoming or helpful tone, but in a way that felt skeptical and unnecessarily confrontational. There was no warmth, no "welcome in," no attempt at hospitality. It immediately set an uncomfortable tone. He then proceeded to call upstairs as though he were doing us some sort of favor just by allowing us to go up. The entire interaction felt transactional and judgmental rather than gracious. First impressions matter, especially at a place that positions itself as a premium dining destination. Hospitality begins at the door, not at the table. When we finally made it upstairs, the room was filled with visibly drunk, rowdy groups -- which only made the earlier attitude feel even more misplaced. If that environment is acceptable (and profitable), then two polite guests looking for drinks and food shouldn't be met with suspicion at the entrance. By that point, the damage was done. The initial interaction had already rubbed us the wrong way, and the energy upstairs didn't help. We ultimately decided to leave before even sitting at our table. That's how strongly the first impression impacted us. It's difficult to justify staying somewhere when you don't feel genuinely welcomed from the outset. Duck & Waffle has the potential to be memorable for all the right reasons. But someone representing the brand at the very front needs to understand that hospitality isn't optional -- it's foundational. A simple, respectful welcome would have changed everything. I hope management takes this seriously, because no guest should feel judged or dismissed before they even step inside.

They are located just outside downtown London and near the financial district. After a long underground ride, we arrived at a classic looking British pub. We were seated downstairs in a very busy dining hall that looked like a proper hunting lodge kitchen. For Christmas eve, the place was packed with large groups celebrating the holidays. We ordered the sea snails with garlic / butter and sourdough, and deer tartar with game chips, mustard, bone marrow and toast. These were good and had a very rustic flare. For dinner, I ordered the red legged partridge, spelt, njuda and kale. The partridge was tough and not much flavor. The spelt and njuda was fantastic and a real flavor bomb. My first spelt encounter but definitely not the last. The kale was fine. The meal was solid but nothing to write home about. The atmosphere and setting was good along with the service. I'm glad we tried a standard English pub but not impressed by the food. Regardless of the meal, it was still a great family memory.

We arrived with plenty of time and finished our main course with time too but then dessert inexplicably took a while. No servers came over to help and we had to get up to express the fact that our show -- again we ordered from the pre theatre menu and told them of our plans -- started in 15 mins. They finally came over with the dessert which we had to scarf down instead of getting the refund of dessert. Wasn't worth the fight but ruined an otherwise good meal. The burger was terrific for example. They also sat us at a weird table in the back that was difficult for the servers to get to and had sound reverberate so the loud table next to us just dominated the sound in the room. Just shows that a meal needs to have more than a good food to be enjoyable.

However, I must say in my two dining experiences at Karpo....I found none of the above to be true, and in fact quite the opposite. First of all, its not REALLY a hotel restaurant. Yes it has an entrance from the Megaro Hotel and provides their in-room dining, but it really seems much more of a "stand-alone." Room Service: A pleasant gentlemen delivered me a spread including: hot tea, lam shank with asparagus and pea puree, mac 'n cheese and a vegetable medley. I didn't have any expectations much, just needed a warm meal on a Friday evening after a particularly exhausting week. And...there it was. It arrived within 20 minutes, fresh, hot and satisfying. I actually remarked to myself that the lamb was some of the best I've had. Certainly not typical "room service" fare. I enjoyed it so much, I headed down for brunch the following morning before tackling all that is London. I perched myself at the bar, enjoyed a double espresso followed by an Americano (told you the week was long!) and then indulged in the eggs benedict. Its not usually my type of dish, but of the few brunch options this seemed to be the best bet for some protein to sustain me through the day. It arrived within 10 minutes, and was delicious. Also, each interaction with the staff was delightful. Including when one of their "regulars" sat beside me and was blitzed out drunk at noon. Not an issue for me, but after being quizzed on the bio of the British Prime Minister (before coffee!) and then told to take a (expletive) taxi back to the States if I wasn't going to learn the ins and outs of the British Parliament...the staff jumped into high gear, distracting the...errr...passionate gentlemen so that I could enjoy my breakfast. A nice gesture, and I was appreciative. Otherwise the service was also good...all smiles and quite warm and friendly, while staying efficient. Cost of both meals (on my hotel bill): 43 GBP. The colors are bright and I am glad I popped into Karpo...worth a try, and conveniently located near Kings Cross, and near many hotels/hostels. Worth the splurge or even just for a pop in for a coffee and croissant to start your day. Skip the chains!

Either way, they were great at walking us through everything to make sure we didn't have any questions. The table settings and overall vibe made me feel like we were super fancy! I ordered the Egyptian Chamomile tea and my husband ordered the Earl Gray. The menu had descriptions of the types of teas which can help you pick out what you'd like. I think we both liked my Chamomile better with a tad of sugar which was on the table. We happened to visit during the Chelsea Flower Show time, so they had 2 different types of specialty desserts- we ordered one of each. The sandwiches were all delicious- I loved the salmon and my husband wanted to ask for the Coronation Chicken Salad recipe. The scones were out of this world, and I have a new favorite food called clotted cream. The desserts were so, so good and had a little bit of everything- chocolate, tarts, fruity...you'll find something you like! To be quite frank, we did our due diligence with finding a place to have high tea. There were some that were almost twice as expensive as this place, and I have a hard time believing they would have been twice as good.
