Roasted aubergine, fire grilled octopus with harissa, shaved fennel and orange salad
    James H. L.

Wandered into town, intending to take in the Kensington Palace, but fancied a bit to eat since we hadn't had much other than coffee for breakfast. CERU turned out to be an inspired choice quite different from the surrounding competing restaurants ranging from Italian to various Asian cuisines. While selections are principally Mediterranean, the execution is decidedly modernized because the recipes follow tradition, but enhance it with a modern twist. For example, Roasted Baby Aubergines with date syrup and tamari dressing, sesame and coriander. There are at least three different countries included in the single recipe. Service is excellent owing to the staff that must maintain high knowledge of all of the excellent recipes and keeping track of dining preferences. It's a lovely place to have quiet intimate conversations enjoyed within a relaxing and stately appointed environment. Come here to explore and be ready to encounter surprises at every corner that will delight your senses both in a taste in appearances.

Middle eastern fusion! My new favorite. The restaurant is small with an open galley kitchen. Beautifully decorated. The service was perfect. The food!! Omg. I'm going to dream about the food. If you like lamb, be sure to get their signature dish. The trio of dips- yummy!! I wanted to order everything. Definitely save room for the baklava ice cream!

Definitely on the pricier side but the dishes are inventive and delicious. Best pita bread I've ever had. The chicken tenders are fried and only ok, had an interesting citrus flavor but I was underwhelmed. The lamb (their signature dish) was very tender and flavorful (& good portion!). Broccoli was ok, not worth the money. Automatic 12.5% "optional" tip. Service was iffy - I liked the host but our specific waitress was curt with me and slammed the dishes down a lot. They also make it a point to say 3 dishes a person but 2 was definitely enough for me!

Cute restaurant and nice staff. They also have their own beer the brew. Coffee is strong and they serve it with a little piece of baklava. Would def want to come back and try more dishes. We had: Parsnip fries Scallops Chicken Beet fennel salad Cauliflower Chocolate mousse Birds nest dessert Detox tea Apple tea Bill was roughly £75.

Who would have thought that someone made beer with rosewater? A very strange brew. Great food. Decent service. Great location. The food was excellent. Tapas style. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in good eastern Mediterranean food

Wow! This restaurant is such a gem! Excellent Mediterranean food in a cozy, warmly lit space, with modern Turkish tunes playing in the background. Our party ordered the Shish Taouk (grilled chicken), braised octopus, broccoli, fried rice and the pita with hummus. Everything was bursting with flavor and cooked perfectly. Our server Andres was also so friendly and attentive. Our meal was complemented with a good selection of wine too, all sourced from the Levant region. This place is not to be missed if you are in South Kensington!

This was one of the best if not THE best meal I had while in London! The whole menu is gluten free except the pita bread, which made it so easy to order. Every dish we shared was absolutely delicious! We shared a tonne of plates but the ones that really stood out were the calamari which were such a treat as they are usually not gluten free and the walnut and pomegranate dip. The prices were very reasonable, the service was great and I loved the Moroccan themed decor! I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in London!

Ceru was packed when we went for dinner, but we were still able to snag stool seating for two people as a walk in. Ambiance was very nice, dimly lit, and small space with limited seating. Service unfortunately was terrible. Our waitress took our order and then we never saw her again. First, the wrong appetizer was bought out (pita bread with hummus when we specified a gluten free meal and asked for crudité). Then, no one checked on us the entire time; empty plates were not taken away, and water was not refilled. Lastly, two other people sitting next to us came/ate/paid, and we were still sitting there waiting for the bill. Had to go up to staff and ask for the bill despite us sitting there with empty plates trying to get their attention. The food itself was very good - we got the hummus and crudité, mushrooms, watermelon salad, and eton mess for dessert. But the service definitely needs much improvement.

Great service and delicious food! We loved all the flavors and spices and best of all was so many gluten free options! The scallops and lamb were like butter! The rice was amazing. We loved all the vegetables dishes as well.

Decor: Mediterranean swank Service: engaging Food: absolutely When you leave a place, and later, salivate remembering how good the plates were; welcome to Ceru. The seasonal watermelon lemonade was rose coloured summer in a glass. The hummus we did not order/were gifted was perfect- as were the eggplant, lamb and accoutrements. And the service was outstanding ...particularly the JamaicanEnglishMon.

Moments later a gentleman came out and said he made space for us. We were thankful for the gesture so we canceled our Uber immediately. Thankfully we did because the service, food and atmosphere was great! Service is fast, but not rushing. The folks working seemed to be working together and helping each other out. The same gentlemen who came outside to offer us a table was one of the best employees I have seen. He was courteous and friendly. I could see and hear him going out of his way talking to customers and making sure everything was okay. Four our meal, our party of four ordered two steak sandwiches plates, a scrambled egged plate and a chicken salad. Each plate was delicious. My salad was so filling yet light. My husbands steak was so juicy and tender. Our course I tried my nieces egg plate too and the first I noticed was how perfectly the scrambled eggs were cooked. We finished off with some "breakfast dessert." I'll say, they are a meal in itself but very very good. Juices and coffee were good too. There is good food in London but the top notch service here is what gives it a five star!

The dinner menu doesn't have much options and it's all very common British food. We got the burger which is surprisingly expensive. Everything taste great but the beef patty is a bit lacking flavor. We also got the fish with barley risotto. The risotto is quite hard and you can literally taste every piece of barley. But my preference in risotto is rather creamy so this is not for me. The fish is nicely seared tho and they give quite a big piece. The wait staff was really nice and attentive. There's not a lot of customers on a Thursday night so I don't reckon the service would be that bad. And the food come pretty quickly.

QUESTION: Where can you go to get a five-star hotel's afternoon champagne tea for £20?…read more ANSWER: The Wyndham Grand at Chelsea Harbour. It's as simple as that, folks. Because of the Wyndham Grand's out-of-the-way Imperial Wharf location, you, too, could enjoy the epic spread of afternoon tea (with posh finger sandwiches, two homemade warm raisin scones with clotted cream and jam and a spread of individually sized sweet pastries and other treats - too much food for a single person to reasonably consume, I assure you) along with a glass of bubbly at a leisurely pace whilst taking in the view of the harbour and its (billionaires') boats. I'm not entirely sure why the afternoon tea is so cheap, but it is. Tea without champagne is a measly 15 quid. I booked a place for tea online and arrived to a quiet lounge area at 3:00pm, with Sunday brunch winding down in the adjacent restaurant. The table was set, and the polished and besuited server greeted me graciously. The low-seated couches and armchairs were large and cosy, and my companions and I sipped, munched, supped and gluttonously indulged for THREE HOURS. Service wasn't without its faults: the server was a bit nervous for whatever reason, but she was certainly friendly and gracious; my first pot of tea was loose leaf, as one would expect of afternoon tea at a five-star hotel, but my second pot had a teabag chucked in (although said tea in teabag was aromatic and delicious); water and/or tea refills weren't forthcoming, but the server would have fetched these things if asked. Despite these lapses in service (nit-picky though they are), overall, the experience and value for money were outstanding. SUMMARY: Go here if you're a local, you want an indulgent yet inexpensive afternoon tea, you don't want to combat crowds of tourists who may or may not think that the clotted cream belongs in their teacups.* _______________________________________________________ *Although I do know that by posting this review the afternoon tea at the Wyndham Grand may very well become more busy than it was on my first visit, I remain confident that it will maintain its atmosphere of exclusivity due to its less-accessible location.
