    One of our most memorable stops when we visited London. The food, service and the architecture are all wonderful. Shakshuka on Sundays.

    Wow, just amazing overall - great venue, cool vibes, incredible food, somehow even better drink. Sip Happens - amazing drink packed with flavor, hint of sweetness, good smooth smokiness to it as well. My perfect drink with chocolate whisky, banana rum, smoke. I got a second it was so good Braised Beef Hummus - sounds simple but this was maybe our favorite thing. The beef was delicious and the hummus was incredibly smooth, whipped, light. really well done Aubergine Mess - this was good but not my favorite, it had a bit of almost a tanginess to it but it was really unique flavor combo Apricot & Feta - i threw this in at the last second because it sounds so simple so as to be not worth it, but holy cow was it so fresh, refreshing, and really split up the rest of the meal. Brisket Donut - this was good but we were so full it kinda fell flat relative to the rest of the meal which was more nuanced and flavorful. But the brisket was still perfectly cooked Fried cauliflower - like half a cauliflower, this was so much food and with all the seasoning they put on top of it, eveyr bite was full of spices. It was only lightly fried just to add that crispiness to it. Would definitely return, loved our dinner here

    I thought this place was great. It was a bit hard to find, to be fair, but the service was awesome once we were in. I apologised that a couple members of my group were running late and they assured me it was no issue. When some food came out late, they brought more apps. One of the members of our party commented that she wished to try an Israeli wine and they brought out a taste. It was 10/10 service. The food was great as well although a bit on the pricey end. The hummus was good but a very small portion for £11. The squash and hummus were good but again pushing it for the price point (around £16). The fish was a nice sharing dish but at £42 it better be. I think head to head the food at bubala is better and cheaper but I did like this place and the service was unmatched. Would recommend.

    Had came here on a Sunday afternoon to meet up with my traveling friend's niece and her husband for a meal while in London. We had no reservations but were promptly taken to a table, upstairs in the corner, kind of overlooking the outside and entrance of the restaurant, in a corner booth. By recommendation of the waiter, since none of us had Israeli cuisine before nor been to this restaurant, we were recommended to do the BRUNCH FEAST which is £34 per person (Nov 2022). The BRUNCH FREAST includes ALL the MEZZE served with housemade pita bread. Each person selects a MAIN from a list of 8 (prior to being mentioned the BREAKFAST BRISKET DOUGHNUT was not available). With a party of 6, 3 of us had ordered the LAMB PARCEL SHAKSHUKA, 1 SMASH & SHAWARMA SALMON, 1 FISH CLOUDS, and something else (i forgot) Weirdly our main's showed up after waiting a long time. The waiter comes up and said it was a kitchen mistake and they'll be bringing the variety of MEZZE soon. Unsure how this mistake could be made. I had ordered the LAMB PARCEL SHAKSHUKA which includes spiced tomato sauce, lamb kofta in a potato parcel, eggs, tahini, pickled chili, chives, and pita. Although this dish was very flavorful, it was very salty. Everyone at the table had agreed as well, even if eaten with the provided pita bread. Weirdly, the saltiness seemed to be an ongoing theme as both the FISH CLOUDS and the SMASH & SHAWARMA SALMON were also on the salty end. The FISH CLOUDS includes smoked haddock fish cakes, pita crumbs, poached eggs, white taramasalata, apple, and fennel. Whereas the SMASH & SHAWARMA SALMON includes Shawarma cured salmon, avocado smash, marbled harissa cornbread, horseradish mayo, and poached egg. I understand smoked/cured fish tend to be salty but this was on another level for these two dishes as well We were almost done with our mains before the platter of MEZZE had arrived at our table. (We had noticed this mishap had never happened to any other table around us). The MEZZE platter includes OLIVES w/ harissa, preserved lemon, and sumac, FETA & APRICOT w/ saffron and oregano, PINK TARAMA w/ smoked roe, extra virgin olive oil and chives, LABANEH & ZA'ATAR w/ strained Greek yogurt, za'atar & olive oil paste, and parsley, FIRE & HEAT w/ bonfire burnt tomatoes and Turkish chilies, and coriander, and TAHINI AND HARISSA w/ tahini cream and harissa. This platter would have been GREAT is we weren't quite full from the mains. Despite being full, we had still munched on this platter but not as thoroughly as we had hoped for. We had found it to be nice to combine the PINK TARAMA and TAHINI & HARISSA on a pita piece. The FETA & APRICOT is an interesting but delicious combination. I'm not a fan of olives but the olives here were pretty decent. Decent enough for me to eat 2 ! A sampler of desserts had come at the end. BURNT BABKA, MIDNIGHT MALABI, and QUINCE PUDDING. The BURNT BABKA has grilled pistachio & tahini enriched dough w/ blackberry compote and creme anglaise. Kind of reminded us of a fancier cinnamon roll. The MIDNIGHT MALABI has coconut, white rhum, black thaini, morello cherry, vanilla rosa, and sesame brittle. In a way, texture wise is smooth and creamy. Combination of flavors is a bit weird. Cherry and rose can be omitted (personally). Then finally the QUINCE PUDDING was a milk sponge with quince, meringe, and creme anglaise. Least favorite and appealing. Barely any apologies were given. Unsure if changes were made on the bill as friend's niece in law? had paid for the bill. Apparently the bill comes in the form of a QR code within a crystal that you scan and pay. Unfortunately I couldn't scan it from afar. Had expected much better from a MICHELIN guided (not starred) restaurant in terms of service and quality of food. Would have been great if our food came out in the right order and if things weren't so salty as well...

    Went in November with a friend over from the states and we got lots of little bites to share. The food was so good we just didn't speak for about 15 minutes while we tried everything. My favourite was the apricot and feta.

    The food here is incredible. The space is beautiful and airy. If you're thinking about going, just go! (Make a reservation first.) We had three tapas and shared an entree and a dessert. It was just enough food for two. The kebab dumplings were okay but not the stars of the show. The Crispy, Sticky, Crunchy is basically a party in your mouth -- crispy, juicy chicken coated in an amazing sauce. I also loved the lamb with hummus. Super flavorful. The sea bass is large and perfectly cooked. And that cheesecake!!!! That cheesecake is one of the best desserts I've ever had. There's fried tempura banana and tasty crumble. Just amazing. Even the complimentary pita and hummus they gave the table was yummy. Highly recommend! My only complaint was the server that kept singing...beautiful voice but didn't need the live music with my meal. It's actually pretty inappropriate. Otherwise A++!

There was a mad scientist vibe with the lights being industrial vibe and some metal decor. The music was thumpy and loud enough to remind you it was there. It made me feel a bit out-of-place as somebody well past my 20s, but also a bit cool or being there. You really come here for the drinks. We got the pipe dream, smokey old fashioned, honeypot picante, and one other I can't remember the name of, but which came in a flower pot. The pipe dream and smokey old fashioned were likely the best. Overall the drinks were more visually appealing than traditionally good and the visually appealing ones tended to have ingredients that weren't as top shelf and/or they were just too sweet. Not bad, but disappointing for what we'd hope. The food was the opposite. I had low expectations and the food wasn't amazing, but was better than average. We got the bao buns, crispy duck pancakes, panko halloumi, katsu curry, and hot honey pork tacos. They arranged for it all to come out in time for us to make our theater show, which was nice. The bao buns and pork tacos were probably the best. Neither blew me away, but both were solid. The katsu curry and halloumi were standard of what you might expect. The crispy duck pancakes was maybe as advertised, but it would have been nice to have some moistness or substance to the dug vs. it basically being crunchy salty bits of something. Overall, this wasn't a bad meal, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. We may be back, but we'll probably try other things first.

The service was fast for weekend brunch, and the food was so tasty. Stuffed French toast with bacon on top was the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and filling. I can only dream of learning to cook French toast that perfectly in my lifetime. The eggs benedict were standard - but in a good way. Very easy to make an overly rich sauce, a bad egg, a burnt bread or a poor filling and ruin it, but they didn't. Well done. Service was kind and fast - not sure why so many have complained. All o can come up with is that there are loads of very aggressive people in Vauxhall after a 12-hour stint at the clubs. Oh, and the chocolate muffin melted in my mouth. holy wow. Last thing - the chips are solid gold. Remind me of the old Burger King chips before they had to change them for health reasons. Worth your time, and won't cost you much money. Enjoy!! However with the introduction of Counter it added a bit of class to the area. It's also gluten friendly which was perfect for my gluten intolerant friend as they had at least a one dish on each each course that was gluten free. I loved the fact it was under the Vauxhall arches, rustic on the outside but had a really cool modern look inside. Seating were arranged as booths with the leather seats standing up high so you had a lot of privacy. The lady who served us all evening was amazingly friendly. My friend may have crossed a few lines with his jokes but she went along with it and kept us entertained and feeling comfortable. Excellent service. Food was a hit a hit and miss and I find it to be more for locals in the area who want a nicer place to hang out and catch up than to make travel arrangements here. We started our evening with a cocktail and we both enjoyed the Aperol breeze. It was citrusy yet sweet from the passion purée with a slight bitter note from the vodka and grapefruit . Nice for light drinkers like me who knows nothing about alcohol. Now the food we ordered included : French cheese platter It consisted of Brie, Camembert and silton served with a variety of crackers and baby gherkins. It was pretty average and the different coloured crackers were more novelty than for taste as they were all quite dry and hard. Mussels in a creamy white wine sauce. This was a starter dish. It was a shame the mussels were so small it couldn't benefit the lovely garlicky sauce. Luckily there was a nice toasted sourdough to mop it up with. Scallops I was really surprised how fresh and plump these scallops were. Also loving the combination of the sweet touch of butternut squash purée and crisps, not only enhancing the flavour but texture too. Chicken and Tarragon Terrine. Really nice herby flavours coming out from this terrine. The meat was juicy, tender and mixed well the nice contrast of textures from the other ingredients. The apricot chutney added a nice zing to it and brought it together with the given sourdough. Grilled tuna. For a main my friend ordered the tuna being gluten free. It had so much potential being cooked perfectly, still fleshy, flakey and juicy. Sadly the tuna was too salty for anyone to really enjoy which was a real shame. Cassoulet with confit duck This was also over seasoned, drowning in salt. It was the most disappointing dish of the evening yet sounded so nice on the menu. The flavour was very one noted and lacked depth. The duck itself was slightly over cooked too making it a bit dry and tough round the edges. Counter Burger I wouldn't have thought the most generic dish on the menu turned out to be the highlight dish out of the mains. Beautifully seasoned beef patty, very juicy and the bun managed to hold it all together. Cheese lovely and melted and the crispy bacon gave it extra flavour and depth. The fries were like 'Mcdonalds' fries and who's not to like it. Fried nac and cheese balls These were nice and crispy but wouldn't have been so memorable if it wasn't for the lovely Chipotle mayo sauce it came with which had a nice sweet smokiness to it. Lyonnaise Potato These were nice and cooked really well with onions, slightly crisp on the outside and fluffy in the inside. Oreo cheesecake It definitely sounds nicer than it really was with it being described to be accompanied with crispy milk. It did arrive with a small glass of 'chocolate' milk that looked more like chocolate than it tasted. The 'crispy' in the description was just some crumbs of the Oreos topped in. Hardly crispy. The cake itself was dense and the base dry and hard. A bit of a let down. Mississippi mud pie This was gigantic and very gluttonous. The cake was very dense and although quite generic, I did enjoy the vanilla cream frosting on top. The brownie pieces were a bit forgettable though and didn't need to be there. Passion fruit creme brûlée The gluten free dish in the section and probably the most enjoyable dessert out of the three. The flavours and consistency were very balanced, light, sweet, milky and creamy. I wouldn't mind having more of this. Counter did let us down a little bit but with its forever changing seasonal menu it does seem they have hope. There does seem to be creativity in the kitchen too and some potential seeing how well it succeeded in the starters. It's still a great place for drinks and a sociable environment. Until something better comes along to Vauxhall I would still give this place another shot if I'm in the area.

It's a winner with everyone. I think because it has charm. It's a proper old fashioned London boozer; old photos on the walls, a selection of ales, wooden floors, bar and furniture, frosted windows â" all that malarkey and a completely unpretentious feel. Everyone likes it, which is evident from the mixed bag of people you get inside which only adds to its appeal. Unlike some of my friends who cannot fault the place, my problem is the lighting; I think it's too bright and wish they'd just unscrew a few of the bar lights to make it more inviting and true to its namesake. I am also disappointed by the prices which seem to be rising slowly but surely. This is not a cheap option despite its looks. Summer nights are best the Hermits when the punters spill out onto the pavements, but equally a winter evening is great, curled up inside with one of the many warm beverages on offer - a hot toddy or mulled wine is always best in an old-fashioned pub. Word of warning: If you order a Brothers cider, there is a festival and normal version and the festival one is about 4% stronger!

I'd meant to try this for ages, and it was absolutely delicious. I'm sure I've had Westons before, but for some reason this one tasted almost exactly like balsamic vinegar (which I love, but was slightly unexpected). It's a nice, airy pub with plenty of big cosy tables and places to squash into, but if I were going out, I'd still make a beeline to somewhere like the Stormbird or the Tiger first.
