A popular location, Barrels can fill up fast so I appreciate slipping in before or after the crowds but if the timing doesn't work out I'll buy a recommended bottle to-go. Josh is incredible. Unpretentious and very welcoming, Josh defies the typical wine connoisseur stereotype. He finds a moment to make sure everyone is attended to even on the busiest of evenings. His staff are also delightfully authentic people. They are equally welcoming and just real for lack of a better word. When I come here I'm treated with a warmth that I only experience at places I'm a regular but here they immediately engaged as though I've always been here. They joke, tell stories, and share laughter that puts me at ease. Barrels is a comfortable wine bar. There is now a privacy shield on the window if you sit in a lower seat so that car headlights don't shine in your face. There are games too if you are here with a friend or few friends. We headed to a restaurant after and got $14 glass pours that we preferred. This is a great place to go to impress someone with the chic vibes, but good wine can be found elsewhere at a fraction of the price. I do see the appeal though.
