Poor, sloppy, unfinished service. Stay clear.

Placement of all furniture in your home at your direction. Right. I explicitly asked, before booking an appointment, if Frank Garcia (owner) could move 2 appliances from my property and into the home of the purchaser. He inquired as to whether there were stairs involved, to which I told him "no, there are no stairs!" He asked no further questions, and assured me he could do the job. He told me there would be a 2 hour minimum @ $140. I agreed on the price. Upon arrival, in which he was 2 hours late, Frank and his 2nd man moved said appliances from my home and into their truck. He didn't have a lift, and he did not protect the appliances with the so called "moving pads" that they advertise. But moving on...
When we got to the drop-off property of the purchaser, which was literally right around the corner, Frank Garcia refused to bring the appliances into their home, as previously agreed, even though we were only about 45 minutes into my 2 hour session. When reminded that that was our agreement, his persona immediately changed and he began pointing out all of the so-called "obstacles" that were in the way of him completing the job. The reality of the situation, was that there was nothing in the way that should have hindered a so-called "professional mover." And sir, if you call a 3-inch concrete lip an "obstacle," you are in the wrong business, but I digress.
I wasn't buying his excuses, and showed him where and how to get the appliances into the household. After some moments passed, Mr. Garcia became incredibly erratic, insisting that he just could not take the time to move the items into the house of the purchaser, whining and moaning about how "tired" he was, and how he had been moving items all day, how he is late for his next appointment, etc etc. as if those excuses were a reasonable, nay excusable, explanation as to why he was breaking our verbal contract. It was reminiscent of a child attempting to remove themselves from their daily chores. After he told us that he had another job to be at, and therefore could not complete the move according to our agreement, I asked if it were possible he come back later to move the appliances into the home as agreed. He flipped out again and had a complete melt-down, insisting that he was merely a "mover" and not a "deliverer." It was strange to watch someone emotionally deteriorate in such a way.
So there you have it, there were no obstacles -- He was tired and late for his next appointment and wanted any reason to get out of being at the property any longer. He left the appliances in the garage of the purchaser wherein she had nowhere to plug them in, and no way to get them into her home.
Mr. Garcia charged me $140 for a service which, had he any integrity -- or accountability, should have completed fully and thoroughly regardless of how many bad decisions he had made for himself that day. His personal problems should not interfere with the job he has a responsibility to carry out.
As he left the job unfinished, a discount should have been issued. Instead, Mr. Garcia remained on the property, turning red with anger, until the money was handed over. I felt if I did not pay, he would have returned to the buyer's home for some sort of petty retaliation. Surely a one-time discount for unfinished service would have been far cheaper than what this review is going to cost him long-term. Clearly Mr. Garcia needs to sit down and figure out how he plans to structure his business from here on out. Let's start with accountability. read more
