I will always use Blake, and Ohana Movers for all my moving needs! About 5 years ago I hired 2 great movers (advertising on Craigslist) to pick up and deliver 2 VERY HEAVY dressers. They were AMAZING. Unfortunately I misplaced their number :( Fast forward 5 years, I now need these same 2 HEAVY DRESSERS along with 2 couches moved from my apt (with many stairs!) to another house... so I take a chance and call an ad on Craigslist... and wouldn't you know... it's the same guy! I was thrilled and relieved when I saw Blake again! He moved the dressers & couches super quick! I want to add that his wife is such an asset to him, she's strong and skilled with moving bulky items in and around small spaces! The many stairs I have didn't slow them down, it's obvious they have years of moving experience, with all the necessary equipment to go with. I want to further note, that the day prior, a few very able bodied men attempted to move these pcs of furniture and they were stumped at how to get it up & down all the stairs. Blake and his wife didn't even flinch! That being said, yes, he was able to fit me into his schedule the very next morning after my initial inquiry. AND he came right on time! I just used Ohana movers for the 2nd time. Grant, the owner is amazing. He's on time, fast, efficient, careful and ridiculously reasonable in his pricing. We moved my one bedroom apt, repleat with loads of boxes, assorted junk, bedroom furniture, a leather couch and one heavy Asian style dresser... And we did it all in less than 1.5 hours... I don't know why they advertise that they're nice and accommodating. Grant the cop has a nasty attitude and a quick temper. I booked out early enough and actually had less than I told him (doesn't matter as it's a flat rate) but I did ask for something special from him and that's when he BLEW up. Doesn't hide his feelings for sure and he remained pissed the whole moving time. Worse he bought his kids along and my friends had to provide seating and talk to them while they loaded their trolley up. The boy only helped when I got to my new place. Ohana yea, but didn't know kids actually come with the package. UN PROFESSIONAL. And it wasn't like they were totally booked. They had one appliance move after me, and my move paid more than that. Grant only became nice when - surprise - it was time to pay him. Gawdful man. His partner, I think Blake was the silent partner and he was super nice. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!! I also submitted a request for a quote online through their website. Grant Kimura emailed me back asking what day I needed to move. I told him that I had the 20th reserved for my building to use the freight elevator. He never called back. Waited for an email or call but nothing. Finally 5 days before the move, I called him....no answer so I left a message. Called again the next day and he picked up....he said he was in the middle of a job so he could call me back. I reminded him that I had the elevator reserved for the 20th but needed to know if couldn't so I could reschedule. AGAIN NO CALL BACK!! Called back the next day again and left a message 1 more time....no call backs. So I called my brother, went down to UHAUL and rented a Cargo Van. Not sure what they would have charged since they never gave me a quote, but total I spent for the Cargo Van was $54. Seems all the positive feedback is for Blake. Blake and his wife were AWESOME!!!! They had the best price, and I really researched for the best price. And then, he charged me a hundred dollars less than he quoted me! He had all kinds of equipment, which made things very efficient. They were lightening fast. Nothing got broke or scratched or damaged in any way, including the newly painted walls. He even hauled our big 7ft live trees and a forest of large potted plants with no problems. When they left, we really felt like we'd made some good friends. Played phone tag with Blake until finally spoke by early evening on phone for a quote. I was very clear on the move, a small 700 sqft home complete move out to another home. I verbally went through what I have and he said they could do it but asked for pictures and a list of what I have, since they quote by job and not hourly. Ummm, okay well that took some time that night to do, and I emailed it to him the following morning. He then asked for more information, which he should've asked for the first time, so again I sent it to him right away. He emailed later that day saying the job was too big for him, and that he was just a modest small mover. Now, I went over it all on the phone the first conversation with him, gave a complete enough picture so he could make the call then and there, but he didn't. As if moves arent hectic and crazy enough, jumping through hoops for a guy who doesnt listen and does not value other's time is frustrating. It was very unprofessional. I spoke with Grant about a week or so prior to my move date, he asked some standard questions and said he'd get back to me with a quote. Within a couple of hours, he got back to me and gave a very reasonable quote for roughly a studio apartment full of furniture and boxes. On the day of the move, he arrived a few minutes early, took a look at where everything was, and got to work. His team worked extremely efficiently and within an hour, we were under way. On arrival at the new apartment, these guys got everything unloaded and even arranged the furniture to my specifications and set up my bed. I highly recommend these guys, they were professional, quick and extremely respectful, even removing shoes when entering the apartments. The next day I called and left a message asking for status. I called again the next day due to no response and again left a message. It's been over a week and still no response. All I had was ONE item to move from Pali to Kapolei This company really does show that they provide family service. My family only calls back when they feel like it. This one even better. I looked for someone to pick-up and haul away old furniture on Yelp, saw this review for Ohana Movers and decided to check Craigslist instead. A moving service was advertised on Craigslist by Blake, so I called him to get more info. He said he could pick up and haul away my twin bed, 2 couches, 2 nightstands, and a coffee table the next day (Sunday) at noon. Cost for this service: $80. True to his word, he showed up on Sunday with his strong wife. They worked fast, in and out, loaded up his big truck in a very organized way, and left. They were very nice. On Craigslist I purchased this massive King size bedroom set made of mahogany (very heavy!). I knew it would be too much for me and my husband (we're both senior citizens). Then I saw Blake's ad on CL (383-5723) and contacted him. He was so easy to talk to and I knew right away that I was in good hands! He showed up with his wife on time at the seller's address. Blake knew how to dismantle the bedroom set that was located upstairs. Then he and his (strong) wife did the job so quickly and efficiently and moved like ninja masters! Contrary to the last review, from the moment I contacted the principal of the company and requested information about their services, through completion of the project yesterday (10/5/13), I was extremely satisfied and grateful. I requested their services at the last minute--he was very accommodating and pleasant. I asked for quote after describing the project to move our lab equipment--their price was extremely fair--so I offered double because the equipment was extremely heavy and I knew that transporting them would be a huge challenge. The first attempt to move the equipment proved unsuccessful--they were willing to try again the following weekend, if details ironed out on our end would allow the movers to complete the job. Grant was concerned and didn't want to waste his movers time and incur additional costs for me. He did good follow-up throughout the week to make sure everything was "good-to-go". Although there were a few times (I think a few) where it appeared that they couldn't complete the job, other options were offered and they graciously accepted, instead of giving up. Grant leads well, they all work together well, even under strenuous and challenging conditions--and trust me, this was a very big challenge! None of the movers, including Grant, ever yelled or used derogatory language in my presence, even during the times that they probably wanted to tell me "what the heck were you thinking when you asked us to do this job?!". They stuck fearlessly with me, especially when I said, "No is not an option." Thank you! Grant's son accompanied the group and was extremely helpful and very well-mannered for someone his age. You could tell that he respected his father. I had a chance to talk with several of his help and although they looked somewhat intimidating, big, gruff and serious, I found them to be so kind, thoughtful and great sense of humor. All in all, I would definitely recommend this company to anyone--they truly extend a feeling of aloha and professionalism. Thank you, Grant, Blake and the rest of the crew.
