Friendly staff, great food. Cozy restaurant. Amazing quality for the price. Everything is fresh. Bread is baked daily, tables get sourdough snack bread while waiting. Food comes out fast and is plated well.

My wife has been telling me about Ezma's for several months, and I finally got the chance to visit. I was not disappointed. Ezma's is off the beaten path in a non-descript strip mall, but it apparently has a very loyal clientele as the place filled up rapidly during lunch. Upon entering, I was impressed with the casual air of a Caribbean beach bar and accompanying booths. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Even as it got busy, we never felt rushed. My wife was impressed by the omelettes. So was I. They were light, cooked to order, with fresh ingredients. It was one of the best omelettes I've had in Virginia Beach. The accompanying fruit was an abundant serving and very fresh. We also tried the sourdough French toast, which was simple, served with fresh strawberries, and very tasty. A brief comment about a lunch item: During a previous visit, my wife did not care for the stuffed cabbage which was well cooked but too acidic. We were impressed with the breakfast selections. We will return soon to sample more of the lunch menu. Yes, they sell fat loaves of bread in the back!

Finally decided today was the day to try this place. Everyone raves about it so I've been wanting to try it for a while. I peeped the menu before I came and settled on the fitness bowl. Well that didn't happen. The smokehouse pizza just sounded so amazing, so I got that instead. It IS amazing. The garlic crust is so good and I like that the ham was fresh sliced ham and not little cubes of ham. I got the small pizza and was only able to eat three pieces. I took the rest home. My friend got the waffles and said they were yummy. Service was great and there were a few other tables of folks eating. We came right when they opened so they didn't have a chance to get crazy busy yet. I can't wait to come back and get more of this pizza out here margherita pizza. They have breakfast pizzas too, but this smokehouse was so good I prob won't stray from it.

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a night when they started hosting music. Unfortunately, the kitchen was backed up, so it took a longer than expected time to get our food. Since we were not starving, we didn't make a big deal about it. But under normal circumstances, I think we would have been annoyed and might have left. Anyways, while we waited, we got a small bread basket. The bread was freshly baked and quite yummy with a pat of butter. My husband order the Cheeseburger, and I ordered the gyro sandwich. Both sandwiches came on a pita 'bun' with was different for us. Maybe 3 of my homemade chips were crispy. But for the most part, they were all limp. Overall, the ambience was welcoming and the staff were friendly. Our little server barely checked on us. I had to wave her down, but like I said taking in to consideration what was going on that night, I think we will try to visit on a night with no music.

Back in the Spring, Ezma's was profiled on Channel 13 for their Friday Flavor segment. The backstory on how the owner immigrated from Bosnia to live the American dream was just fascinating. Since then, they landed on my Yelp Collection and finally, Sophia and I got the chance to try them out and see if the hype lived up to the billing. We managed to arrive right before they opened up where a small crowd waited for seating, especially a big group from a local church. After getting seated, we went right to ordering. Both of us ordered the blueberry cream cheese breakfast pizza with a side of sausage and coffee. It did take awhile to come out since the bigger party that had more attention that the smaller tables, but I'll tell you this, the wait was truly worth it. The pizza alone is enough for two people so you really don't need any sides at all. Each slice was covered with fresh blueberries, cream cheese and enough whipped cream to cover each. I'll admit I'm not a big fan of blueberries, but this dish here was no problem at all. It was so much that we both had to-go boxes. You'll never go wrong with a full stomach :) This was truly a delight. Great decor, friendliness from the staff and great food. What more can you ask for? Definitely will be a repeat. Till next time :)

Ezma's Bread Box Cafe is located in the Village Shoppes at Rose Hall. This is located on Virginia Beach Blvd. in the Rose Hall historical district. If heading west on Virginia Beach Blvd. to get here, you'll need to make a U-turn at the Cranston Ln/Eromne St. traffic light. I have visited this place several times now, and my most recent visit was on October 2, 2022. Although you can't easily see the place from the road, there are some flying markers along the road to let you know it is there. It is tucked in to this shopping area. Depending on the day of the week and time of day, parking can get a little tight, but there have been no issues so far with these visits. On the outside, you can see the place easily when in the parking area. The green and white colors, as well as the flowers in front of the outdoor seating area, help showcase the place. There are welcoming features and signs outside too, along with just after entering the restaurant. We were immediately greeted when we came in. They were pretty busy, but there was plenty of seating available too. The hostess that seated us asked us what we wanted to drink. For those that like to keep track, they offer Pepsi products here. A moment or two later, our drinks were brought to the table by our server Tony. I actually recognized him from Bahama Breeze. Small world. Both my mom and I were ready to order at that time too, as we had actually looked at the menu online several days before. Since we were here for breakfast on this first visit, I ordered the Meat Breakfast Pizza, but with all bacon instead of bacon and ham. My mom ordered the Create Your Own Omelet with bacon, cheddar cheese, spinach and onions, with hash browns and sourdough toast as the sides. It would be less than ten minutes for the food to come out. The food looked really good and was very hot, so we both had to wait a few moments to dig in. The pizza was nice and big. I would only have a portion of it, and then brought the rest of it home to have as breakfast one day during that upcoming week. My mom also really liked the omelet and sides too. Since this was a great experience, we came back the following week for brunch/lunch instead of just breakfast. On this second visit, we were immediately seated and we had our same server Tony as the week before. Since I did a breakfast item last week, I wanted to try a lunch item instead. I was torn between doing the Classic Meatball Oven Baked Sandwich or the Roast Beef Sandwich. Tony helped me decide and I went with the Classic Meatball. My mom went with the Bread Box Scrambler with bacon, cheddar cheese, fruit, and sourdough toast. In less than ten minutes, the food came out nice and hot again. Let me tell you, the Classic Meatball Sandwich was huge with 16 meatballs on it. It was damn good too. I brought half of it home to have for lunch another day. The homemade chips that came with it were great too. I loved the spice that was on them because they had a nice kick to them too. The scrambler that my mom had was good too and it was also a nice portion size. Our server was great during each visit. There were other servers around too that also checked on us throughout each visit. One thing that was also great is that Ezma came out to visit everyone at each table on both of my visits. You can tell she is very passionate about what she does. It was great to be able to talk with her. Overall, we have had nothing but excellent experiences here, and will continue to come back and patronize this local brunch establishment. As of the time of this review, they don't offer any discounts, so I just wanted to let everyone know that. They have a great staff and great food. If you are looking for a hidden gem of a brunch spot, look no further than coming here.

Almost felt like I should turn around when the lady greeted us at the front. Very dry and unwelcoming. However when one of the regulars came in she was very sweet in telling them she would clean their regular table off in the back. The waitress was very sweet best part of the restaurant. Food was decent but portions are small and the value is just really not worth it. Strawberries looked unwashed and bananas were clearly bruised. No kids meals which is usually fine because portions are usually enough to share a little with him but not this time. Maybe we will try back in a few months and see how it goes.

My Breadbox BLT. A BLT with turkey added, served on focaccia bread.

It's been 3 years since we last visited Ezma's Bread Box, but it has been on our constant "go again" list ever since, because it made such a positive impression on us. The fact that it's on the other side if town is the only reason we haven't returned many times. I need to say, my 14yo and 16yo have never ceased asking to return to Ezma's from 3 years ago, because they thought it was some of the best food out they've ever had. We had a party of 4, ages 55, 50, 16, and 14. I had the Breadbox BLT, which was a BLT with turkey added, on focacia bread. Served with homemade potato chips, it was a belly full and delicious. My wife is getting over a pulled tooth, so she just had tomato basil soup, but she did end up having some of the Smokehouse Pizza we all shared, both of which she reported as being very good. My 16yo had the Cevapi, which is seasoned meat rolls served on flatbread with tzatziki sauce, red onions, red pepper pate. Our server commented that was a very mature palate order for a teenager, and you know what? She loved it. My 14yo got the Chicken Alfredo, like he did 3 years ago. He says for 3 years he had dreamed about that time we went to Ezma's and he got Alfredo. He reports it was still just as good. And we all split a 14" Smokehouse Pizza. It didn't really have a smokehouse flavor at all, but just a very good pizza with nice crust, plentiful gooey cheese, whole tomato slices, and bacon, maybe ham. It didn't live to it's smokehouse name, but it was a very good pizza, nevertheless. Not I want to mention something about long waits. This time we went, like 3 years ago, was after Church, and so both times you will face either a brisk wait to be seated, or seated quickly and face a long wait to get your food. It's a testament to how good they are and how busy they are, at least on Sunday afternoons. 3 years ago, we waited 40 minutes to be seated. Today we got seated right away, but waited 20 minutes to place our order, and 25 minutes to get our food. We didn't mind at all, though, because we know it's going to be good, and we know they are busy. Can't wait for our 3rd visit...

I have not seen any gluten free options published, but I would contact them directly to confirm.

I heard rumors that Ezma's bread box is moving?

They did move some time ago to the shopping center next to the original one they were at. I don't see any plans to move from where they are now.

The ordering was overly confusing on DoorDash, charging for each and every topping and condiments. So my husband suggested I call the order in and he'd pick it up. Upon answering the phone the restaurant team member informed me they were pretty backed up and it would be approximately 45 minutes until pickup time. As I began to order something told me to just hang up the phone, I now wish I would have. We ordered a half buffalo chicken hero, for me, a whole super cheesesteak hero for my husband and a personal pepperoni pizza for our son + 2 orders of fries. The chicken on my hero was literally microwave chicken nuggets! I had two small nuggets cut into little pieces on my sandwich. Please see the pictures. My hero was mainly bread and lettuce. It was also mushy and looked nothing like the buffalo chicken sandwich advertised. My husband's Philly was soggy and not appetizing. It's very unsettling to receive food that looks like it may cause you to feel sick. Our son's pizza looked like a frozen pizza. Cheese similar to what kids get on their school grade pizzas. Yuck. Over priced microwave food is exactly what we received. This place is a rip off and should update their menu advertisement photos asap. Fraudulent marketing is not ok. We spent $50 on two subs and a small pizza. We should have just made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and called it a night. At least that way we would know our stomachs would be ok in a few hours. I decided to trash my meal because I found hair in my sandwich. The fries were old and cold, you could tell they had been sitting for some time, as the subs were still hot. Just totally ridiculous, super extreme heros, they were NOT. My husband did say the restaurant location was cool. Seemed clean. Was not busy like the lady on the phone said it was.

I stopped by during their pop up at Farmhouse Brewery and, once again, they did not disappoint. One thing you need to know: their burritos are massive. We're talking "the size of your head" big, so come hungry or be ready for some epic leftovers. The menu is small and focused (usually around four burrito choices), but every single one is packed with quality ingredients and flavor. The Coop spends most days serving on base, but keep an eye out for their local pop-ups. They're always worth chasing down. This time around, I ordered the Pepper Jack Chicken Burrito which was grilled chicken breast, maple bacon, melty pepper jack cheese, and their signature Coop Sauce, all bundled up in a warm tortilla. Every bite was the perfect balance of hearty, savory, spicy, and just a hint sweet from the bacon. Their Coop sauce is one of a kind. Tangy, and delicious. I'm sure adding an egg would take it to the next level (that's an option on all burritos). My friends had the Breakfast Burrito! This one comes with fluffy scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar cheese, juicy sausage, more of that craveable maple bacon, herby potatoes, and (of course) the signature Coop Sauce. They raved about every bite. I appreciate that The Coop keeps things simple with their streamlined menu and focus on top-notch burritos. Whenever I see them around town, I make it a point to stop ... even if there's a line, it moves fast and is absolutely worth the wait. Whether you're looking for a new lunch favorite or just crave seriously great street food, The Coop is a true gem on the Virginia Beach food truck scene. Yesterday, I even called ahead to confirm hours and made it clear I would be picking up my order today. When I arrived, I was met with complete incompetence. My order was scribbled on a yellow Post-it note--already a red flag--and they had written the wrong date (Monday the 7th). Because of their mistake, they had sold out of chicken and had nothing to give me. No backup plan. No accountability. Nothing. So now, on a major holiday weekend, I'm left scrambling to replace 40 pounds of meat for my family. It gets worse. After leaving, I called and spoke with the owner. I expected at least a basic apology or some attempt to make things right. Instead, I got smug indifference. No ownership, no urgency, no concern. His "solution"? Offer me whole chickens cut into quarters at nearly THREE TIMES the price. That's not a solution--that's taking advantage of your own mistake. When I asked how something like this even happens, his response was essentially: "Well, I guess they wrote it down wrong." That was it. No apology. No effort to fix it. Just a shrug wrapped in arrogance. This wasn't a minor inconvenience--this was a complete failure in customer service, communication, and basic professionalism.
