I don't recommend their glasses because they only recommend expensive ones to you, and they are not easy to use.

I didn't stay bc I got there 5 minutes before my appointment and good thing I asked if they go by appointment time (since I saw it was packed) and the girl said "not really and you have a couple of people in front of you, and since it's you're first time you have to fill out paperwork." 1. Most offices send a link as option now, to fill out paperwork in advance, but regardless 2. it would have taken maybe 5 minutes to fill out in person. I asked if it was going to be more than a 30 minute and she said, "probably bc there's a couple of people before you." The chaos I witnessed there looked like it would have been even more than 30 minutes so I didn't want to waste my time. I was referred there to obtain Rx, but I couldn't make the effort to stay. Also they have two receptionist at the front, and neither greeted. Until I said, I guess they don't speak and went on the line towards the next desk.

With that said after I filled out the forms there was a lady in front of me so stood behind her to give my forms in and there she goes again stand back well where the hell did she want me to stand out the door!! So I went to ask the gentlemen her name and position and there she comes again LYING LYING that that's not what happened. Beware!!!!

They refused to give me that extra 10% discount. I got a pair of glasses along with contacts, I mean unfair if they offer that extra on Yelp for checking in. But overall great service.

I have a strong prescription and was expecting to spend around $700+ on glasses, so I wanted to explore my options here. When I arrived, I met a friendly Latina staff member with nice glasses and a tall masc presenting person with curly hair. After inquiring about my insurance. They informed me that my insurance was out of network, but I was still willing to shop there. They then introduced me to Julia, who was handling intake. Unfortunately, my experience with Julia was disappointing. She seemed disinterested and unwelcoming, which made me feel like my business wasn't valued. I understand that everyone has bad days, but customer service plays a huge role in shaping a customer's experience. First impressions matter, and in just a minute, I decided not to proceed with my visit. It's unfortunate because I was eager to support a local business. I hope this was just an off day, but I would encourage management to ensure that all staff members, especially those at the front desk, are equipped to provide a welcoming and professional experience. So it doesn't reflect on the work the other workers commit to doing.

My experience with Cohen's Fashion Optical in Jackson Heights, Queens, has significantly changed…read moreover the years, particularly with the shift in staff and focus. Previously, the customer service prioritized patient care and eye health, but now the emphasis seems to be on financial gain rather than customer satisfaction. I initially visited the location under the care of Dr. Kim, and later transitioned to Dr. Martinez. Recently, I scheduled an appointment to get contact lenses. I used my insurance coverage and still had to pay out-of-pocket for a six-month supply of contacts, which led me to sign up for Cohen's in-store credit card. I was given a trial supply for a week; however, by the second day, I experienced discomfort and headaches from the lenses. When I returned to inform the staff, I was told to wait until my full order arrived. During this waiting period, I requested a copy of my prescription to purchase glasses elsewhere. The staff hesitated to provide it, which is concerning as withholding a prescription from a patient is against the law. After insisting, I was finally given my prescription and ordered glasses from an external retailer. Ironically, my glasses arrived before the contact lenses I had initially ordered from Cohen's. When my contacts finally arrived, Dr. Martinez advised the staff to order three different brands for me to try. However, a month passed without any updates, despite the fact that I had already begun making payments for items I did not even have. Upon following up, I was told to continue making the payments. After an additional week and a half, I returned only to find out that my trial lenses had been sitting there without any notification to me. After trying the three different brands, I found that the most comfortable pair was actually cheaper than my original order. However, Cohen's attempted to charge me $50 more than the market price. Prior to this, I had researched the brand and its market value, confirming the overcharge. This experience highlights the lack of communication within this particular branch and reinforces the perception that their primary focus is profit rather than patient care. The shift in priorities at Cohen's Fashion Optical - Jackson Heights is evident in their reluctance to provide basic information, failure to communicate with patients in a timely manner, and questionable pricing practices. While I have been a long-time customer, this experience has left me reconsidering whether I will continue to seek services at this location. For those in search of reliable and patient-centered optical care, I would recommend exploring other options before committing to Cohen's Fashion Optical. "This company lacks a genuine mission or core values. Their responses to reviews are generic and insincere, showing little interest in real customer feedback. It feels like they care more about appearances than actually addressing concerns."

They scrambled to give my toddler a coloring book. Ok fine. Then knowing I have Medicaid they didn't start by showing my son glasses from a catalog that would be covered by his insurance. And in an effort to get my kid excited about wearing glasses I excitedly helped him look at colors and options etc. it was only AFTER the fact she told me they were not covered by insurance and it was expensive. Trying getting a toddler to change their mind about glasses he'd have to wear daily wasn't happening. Ok fine I said I'd make the effort to pay off the ones he selected. Then when they were finally ready I went to pick them up (after being called AND texted 2-3) they weren't even open. Unfortunately their store hours conflict with my work schedule but since their website and Google listed their business hours from 9-5 I figured let me go first thing when they open and then race to work after but sadly that wasn't the case. The lady who was going in rudely told me they couldn't help me even though I said it was just picking up, everything was paid for already. So I had to leave. I texted them in my annoyance and told them they needed to fix their hours and also include their business hrs when they text people their orders are ready. I work in a similar setting and every text lists our business hours so people know when they are able to pick up. The only way I was able to pick up my sons glasses was due to him being sick and I had to leave work early to get him. All in all it wasn't a great experience. Their customer service needs major help. We will be looking to go elsewhere for his follow up.
