I asked if it was going to be more than a 30 minute and she said, "probably bc there's a couple of people before you." The chaos I witnessed there looked like it would have been even more than 30 minutes so I didn't want to waste my time. I was referred there to obtain Rx, but I couldn't make the effort to stay. Their prices are reasonable and they always do a good job with my glasses. They do let you come back to get your glasses fixed (minor stuff) for free like getting a new screw or tightening the glasses, etc. Speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English. The staff knows the products really well. She is very friendly, she took time for me to try about 8 frames of glasses. She gave me three frames that was adjusted to try on. He has a lot of experience I think as I feel the prescription is accurate. The test was so fast compared to many tests I got in other places. I have been wearing glasses about 29 years. The glasses is done within three business day. They called me to pick up. I ordered the high index eye glasses as I have high prescription. I got good deals for the good frames and the lenses. I initially visited the location under the care of Dr. Kim, and later transitioned to Dr. Martinez. Recently, I scheduled an appointment to get contact lenses. I used my insurance coverage and still had to pay out-of-pocket for a six-month supply of contacts, which led me to sign up for Cohen's in-store credit card. I was given a trial supply for a week; however, by the second day, I experienced discomfort and headaches from the lenses. When I returned to inform the staff, I was told to wait until my full order arrived. During this waiting period, I requested a copy of my prescription to purchase glasses elsewhere. The staff hesitated to provide it, which is concerning as withholding a prescription from a patient is against the law. After insisting, I was finally given my prescription and ordered glasses from an external retailer. Ironically, my glasses arrived before the contact lenses I had initially ordered from Cohen's. When my contacts finally arrived, Dr. Martinez advised the staff to order three different brands for me to try. However, a month passed without any updates, despite the fact that I had already begun making payments for items I did not even have. Upon following up, I was told to continue making the payments. After an additional week and a half, I returned only to find out that my trial lenses had been sitting there without any notification to me. After trying the three different brands, I found that the most comfortable pair was actually cheaper than my original order. However, Cohen's attempted to charge me $50 more than the market price. Prior to this, I had researched the brand and its market value, confirming the overcharge. This experience highlights the lack of communication within this particular branch and reinforces the perception that their primary focus is profit rather than patient care. The shift in priorities at Cohen's Fashion Optical - Jackson Heights is evident in their reluctance to provide basic information, failure to communicate with patients in a timely manner, and questionable pricing practices. However, this morning when I was putting my glasses on, I accidentally broke one of the arms off. I went back to the store in the pm and they were GREAT. They were fixing my glasses within 1 minute of my arriving; it took a total of about 5 minutes to fix; they cleaned the glasses for me and charged me NOTHING! This is what great service is all about. The waiting area is comfortable and the receptionist essentially guides you to the various rooms for testing once you remove your contact lenses, which is helpful for someone with poor vision like myself. The provider herself is professional, caring, and amicable. As I am a health care professional, she explained the process in medical terms and made the visit more comprehensible.
