I didn't actually have an eye exam here because the staff did not know how to process my insurance which was a waste of everyone's time. Really disappointed all around. I was able to schedule an appointment over the phone a few days ahead of time which was great. I provided my insurance information. I asked them to confirm that tinted lenses were covered by my plan, the person I made the appointment with said it's not covered. I checked with my insurance and it is covered. No big deal, I can sort that out when I get there. I went to my appointment. (I didn't get a reminder call, they said I would.) They said that the exam was just for refraction, I said no, I need dilation, too, because I have high myopia. The person behind the counter said that dilation is not covered by my vision insurance (Davis) as part of a routine exam. I pulled up the plan description and showed her that it was in fact covered when deemed medically necessary. Given my history, it is *always* medically necessary and literally every eye exam that I've had, even with an optometrist, comes with dilation and not just refraction. I showed them the summary plan description, they refused to accept what it said. They said that insurance companies say one thing to patients and then refuse to pay providers and don't always give patients the right information. (I don't disagree that someone on the phone can give you the wrong information, but I literally had the written documents saying that this was covered.) They showed me in their system that routine eye exams are covered, but they said that, in their office, routine eye exams *do not* include dilation. **They insisted that if I wanted dilation with my exam that I would have to provide them with my medical insurance information. I was not having a medical issue with my eyes, I needed to get a new prescription and a routine, annual check up. This is not covered by medical insurance!** They offered to contact Davis Vision and said that the wait time would be over an hour to speak with a rep from the insurance company. They offered to keep the appointment and only do refraction, not dilation, unless I provided them with my medical (not vision) insurance information, since they wouldn't be able to confirm that dilation was covered by the vision insurance. I said I'd wait for them to confirm that dilation was included, they said they'd contact me later in the day to let me know. I never heard from them. I declined the partial exam and left.

Yes, that's right you scammer they are liars. And I almost got glasses from them, but they would not add to my prescription benefits, which include tinting good thing I did not allow them to do my glasses which I don't even need. You low life scammers people do not go there and if you do get a second opinion, I said what I said.

Mission accomplished: we have found our eye care facility…read more First of all, the office is conveniently located in Jackson Heights - it's a new facility, nice, clean, comforting; a fantastic addition to the community. You get the very strong impression of 'family eye doctor', when you enter - the proprietors are both very nice (they must be brothers because the similarities are uncanny), knowledgeable and they remembered everyone who came into the office while we were there. Likewise, the doctor is excellent, extremely knowledgeable and super nice (and also remembered everyone that he saw while we were there). The exam was thorough, the care and attention given to us (and to everyone else who entered) was top notch, they didn't push anything on us but were extremely helpful all the same. Yuri, I believe his name was (update: I was wrong, it's Rory), helped with the glasses selection process, and he was excellent - one look at our faces and shapes and he could pull out several different glasses that all looked great! And like I said, he was not pushy - when I decided not to purchase glasses he said nothing to convince me otherwise and was not in the least resentful of the time he'd spent selecting glasses for me to try on. When it was my boyfriend's turn, even the doctor got in on the action, with everyone weighing in on which styles and pairs they preferred. They were also knowledgeable about our insurance, giving us prices for what was and was not included. Helping us out when they could sense we were balking at the costs. Eye care is expensive, and when all was said and done we walked out of there with a hefty bill (for two exams, one contact exam, one pair of glasses and one six month supply of contacts) even after factoring in our insurance coverage (which, let's face it, is never much for eye care); but the money was well spent and given to a very deserving business. It's not every day you find an establishment that is sensitive to and respectful of the clients needs, extremely knowledgeable in their field, and excellent in their quality of service.

My experience with Cohen's Fashion Optical in Jackson Heights, Queens, has significantly changed…read moreover the years, particularly with the shift in staff and focus. Previously, the customer service prioritized patient care and eye health, but now the emphasis seems to be on financial gain rather than customer satisfaction. I initially visited the location under the care of Dr. Kim, and later transitioned to Dr. Martinez. Recently, I scheduled an appointment to get contact lenses. I used my insurance coverage and still had to pay out-of-pocket for a six-month supply of contacts, which led me to sign up for Cohen's in-store credit card. I was given a trial supply for a week; however, by the second day, I experienced discomfort and headaches from the lenses. When I returned to inform the staff, I was told to wait until my full order arrived. During this waiting period, I requested a copy of my prescription to purchase glasses elsewhere. The staff hesitated to provide it, which is concerning as withholding a prescription from a patient is against the law. After insisting, I was finally given my prescription and ordered glasses from an external retailer. Ironically, my glasses arrived before the contact lenses I had initially ordered from Cohen's. When my contacts finally arrived, Dr. Martinez advised the staff to order three different brands for me to try. However, a month passed without any updates, despite the fact that I had already begun making payments for items I did not even have. Upon following up, I was told to continue making the payments. After an additional week and a half, I returned only to find out that my trial lenses had been sitting there without any notification to me. After trying the three different brands, I found that the most comfortable pair was actually cheaper than my original order. However, Cohen's attempted to charge me $50 more than the market price. Prior to this, I had researched the brand and its market value, confirming the overcharge. This experience highlights the lack of communication within this particular branch and reinforces the perception that their primary focus is profit rather than patient care. The shift in priorities at Cohen's Fashion Optical - Jackson Heights is evident in their reluctance to provide basic information, failure to communicate with patients in a timely manner, and questionable pricing practices. While I have been a long-time customer, this experience has left me reconsidering whether I will continue to seek services at this location. For those in search of reliable and patient-centered optical care, I would recommend exploring other options before committing to Cohen's Fashion Optical. "This company lacks a genuine mission or core values. Their responses to reviews are generic and insincere, showing little interest in real customer feedback. It feels like they care more about appearances than actually addressing concerns."

(Hi Judy K. with concert-wave, and wagging tongue; I was in your hood last week girl). One day, out of the blue, she threw this little hot potato at me... "Tony, get this groupon deal: $50 for $200!" That was 6 months ago. I'm not always fast, but infrequently stupid. I arrived on the coupon's expiration day last weekend, hehe, better late than never, right? I walked in, and was greeted by the manager. I decided to be funny. As I walked in, I handed him this paper and I asked him sarcastically, "Do you like Groupons?" He said... "What took you so long!, over 300 people grabbed this deal already. They picked out all the best frames!" Shit! My sarcasm backfired! At this point, I felt like I drank spoiled chocolate milk!, like I ate soggy cereal, or bought an expired lottery ticket. However, with an unrelenting nature, and a Massive $150 Groupon Credit, I asked him about his price range. Here's how that conversation went.. - Tony: "Which ones are the cheapest ones?" - Mgmt: "They're color coded, the red ones are $.., the yellow ones are $.., and you shouldn't ask about all those fashionable unmarked ones over there..." I walked in knowing what shape and color of frame I wanted; I was ready to walk out too. And?, on top of the groupon deal, I have a generous work vision plan to cover my frivolous expenditures ;-) I sniffed & scoured the lands, and I finally found my little ladybug. She's clean, crisp, tight around the hedges, and she's sculpted with an upward tick! She's amazing.., After I took off the demo glasses, I said. "Polarize it, and make it scratchproof for me (the works!), I'll pick it up whenever it's ready, no rush." I popped in a week later, picked up the live version, slipped it on my face, looked in the mirror, and looked outside to polarize it. I can see now!, and I look incredible! Why? Its the glasses; she's dangerous, this one here! Like the pet venus fly trap I had (which I fed white castle burgers), or... like when they talk, about how Jordan scored all those points, and won all those consecutive championships..., Why? "Its the shoes!" I ran outside to play. I ran towards the sun to show off my newly polarized spectacles. I ran into burger king for a bag of their new thick cut fries, which, by the way, are phenomenal. And then.., I ran back 3 hours later after I realized that the glasses didn't sit straight. They were crooked! I looked closer, and saw that dreaded sticker, yes that one, Made in China. Argh!!! ..with much sadness. i discovered that it wasn't.., it wasn't the glasses.., or the country china, it's my face. my face is crooked. Shit! .... (brief moment of silence) surprisingly, he took it a lot harder than I did. Hearing him try to console me about my offset nose-bridge sounded like a doctor telling a patient about an in-operable tumor. I ended up having to console him, "It's okay (pat on his back), nobody's perfect." After much consoling, a box of kleenex, and a bit of nip 'n tuck with the glasses, I left looking as clean and fit as ever.

BF bought a groupon($50 for $200 credit on glasses woot woot!) After his glasses broke(he has really luck with glasses) he decided it was finally time to pull out that groupon and put it to good use. THE SERVICE was IMPECCABLE. The owner was super nice. He happily took the groupon and started helping him search for the perfect pair of glasses. BF gets a little picky when it comes to his glasses and literally tried every black pair of glasses the store had to offer. The owner noticed that the BF was still hesitant about the glasses shown and offered to call another location to check if they had what he wanted(Ray Bans). Unfortunately, they didn't but it was very nice that he tried considering he is making very little profit from us. Finally, BF decided on his pair and got anti-glare on it as well. Price of glasses with anti-glare $240-$200 groupon =$40! Thanks groupon!
