Astoria Vision Center has a clinical examination office within the Costco Optical Vision Care Services Center, where my eyes were examined carefully to generate 2 prescriptions for new eyeglasses and new sunglasses. The optometrist was fastidious and very professional, offering excellent service and forms needed for DMV. They helped me complete the forms needed to obtain services reimbursement from my insurance company. Then I gave the new eyeglasses prescriptions to the optician next door at Costco Optical for processing and payment so my new eyeglasses could be ready soon. They also helped me complete the forms needed to obtain eyeglasses reimbursement from my insurance company. Costco Optical opticians were also friendly and helpful. read more

I ordered glasses through them and they came back completely wrong. They Sent them away again and they came back even worse. When I tried to get a refund they have stalled and stalled and not returned calls and I am out $185 and No glasses. I am furious. Not to mention how it screwed up my insurance. read more

My vision insurance changed so I came here as they were covered for me. This was one of the most efficient experiences I've had at a doctor's office and I am very pleased! Turns out I was the first appointment of the day but the doctor was running late (no biggie for me, I was in no rush) but instead of sitting and waiting, I was able to actually start picking out new frames. With the help of an incredibly sweet and caring staff member, I was able to narrow it down to 2 different frames by the time I was called in for my appointment. The doctor was very nice and understanding. I did an exam for glasses and contacts, but didn't push purchasing contacts through them as my insurance doesn't cover it. This is huge for me - most places try to up-sell you on everything and get irritated if you don't purchase through them. While I was waiting for my contacts to set properly, I was able to pick my frames, get fitted, and pay for everything. My glasses will be in within the week, which is the fastest I've gotten new glasses! I have a follow up appointment next week for my contacts prescription and to pick up my glasses, and I'm looking forward to going back and having another great experience. Doctor, staff, everything was top notch and worth my time. I would recommend them 100% to my friends! read more

Cheepo place with spacey employees and a doctor who thinks he's in a 50's instructional film where the doctors are all overly serious and detached. I came in for a contact lens exam because they told me they had trial lenses and I could leave with them that day. After the $50 exam there were no trials in stock. When I got them and tried to order from 1-800-CONTACTS these people never got their fax working so I left town without contacts!! Then when I came back a month later to test a 2nd trial of a different prescription (which they ordered for me originally with the 1st trial), those were gone, given to someone else. It would take another week for me to get those trials. Forget it, pay an extra $20 for your exam and never cheap out! read more

I've had terrible vision my whole life and eventually had laser surgery a few years ago. I was one of those who figured "oh, now I've had surgery, nothing more to worry about". Someone I know ended up having glaucoma - the only way you can catch it is by having yearly examinations. Dr. Stoica was professional, knowledgeable and took her time making sure my eyes are still "up to par", they're lucky to have her as part of their team. Everyone else at this location was also very courteous and kind as well making it a pleasure to visit after a long day at work. Being fairly new to the area I'm glad to have found such a great business in the area. I'll certainly be back for yearly exams and will be back to check out some new sunglasses as well when it's a little closer to summer - this is the kind of business I am happy to support and tell my friends about. read more

I went to this place against my better judgement because the doctor from my usual location was not in on the dday I needed. With that said the doctor at this location was very pleasant, as was the sales girl who helped me. She was very straight forward didnt push for much extra crap, which would have cost me an additional $300!!!!!!!!!!! that is with insurance!!!! Whoa! I paid with insurance but because of the frames I chose I could not get all of the discounted benefits that my insurance offers (so I was told). Once the insurance processed the claim, it turns out that they have applied all of the discounts and it turns out that I paid more than I was supposed to according to my benefits. They also charged my insurance for extras that I told them that I did not want but I was now made responsible for because they HAVE TO CHARGE for this as it is basically included (????????) WHAT?! When I tried to work this out with the vision provider for my refund of the difference between what my insurance says I am repsonsible for and what I paid, I was told that my insurance processed the claim wrong and I was not supposed to get a discount. Well in the end I returned my frames for a full refund as suggested by my insurance and took my prescription to I-Sight up the block. read more

They are very nice here. You can get your eyes examined and select various frames. They are limited in the different insurances they accept, but the girls that work the floor are very nice. They will explain, in detail and plain English, what is covered. They also offer suggestions etc. so definitely worth a trip in. read more

I had such an amazing experience! I was early for my appointment, and one of the ladies went ahead and started taking care of my paperwork, which was fast and easy. Then since I was early she went ahead and asked if I wanted to look at frames. I mentioned I was going the cheap route (which normally in my experience leads to less than stellar customer service) & she promptly pulled out what was fully covered by my insurance, gave me opinions about which shapes looked best on my face. She picked out something I probably never would have tried and I loved it. The eye doctor was also thorough and nice. I felt like everything was up to date, clean and cared for. I struggle with prescriptions and sharpness and she took time to let me compare lenses and I didn't feel rushed or like I was irritating anyone. There was just one couple ahead of me so my wait time was 0 ~ I'm always thankful when a place doesn't overbook. Basically this is the first time I have no apprehensions about returning to an eye doctor, i actually look forward to it. read more

I made an appointment for a DMV eye test and since they were doing that asked for a more complete examination which could include a prescription for glasses to correct any deficiency. I even received my glasses with a non-glare coating I ended up not liking at all- not only did they replace them, they even gave me a refund for the coating I didn't like! Dr. Soula Economouis is great. It's a small shop so I'm not sure if they would have the best selection of frames. Really disappointed with this place. My past experience has been great everyone is always friendly and considerate. I came back to get my yearly made my apt. And had to wait over 30 min. After my scheduled apt. The not so nice woman in front basically told me sorry not sorry. Like it is what it is. Why make an apt. Just to wait an extreme amount of time. I am not a person who has a lot of extra time to wait around for nothing. I will be taking my business elsewhere. This was my first time at Astoria Vision Center and the service was pretty good. The only down side is the waiting and the small location. But when you think about it, what medical office doesn't take long. I know other reviews complained about the long wait time but at least I was warned by the staff. The doctor who saw me was excellent; she explained everything and took her time with me. Now if my doctor rushed with the exam I would know he/she is not doing her job right. But if he/she takes her time I know I won't have an issue with my glasses. When it came to the selection of frames with my insurance, they weren't the nicest but they did offer me upgraded frames for a lower price. The upgraded frame selection seemed flimsy but I figured if it's at low cost they would only be of an ok quality. I ended up getting a Guess frame because it was at a reasonable price. My insurance covered me on my lenses; I only paid for my frame. If you want a place where the staff is courteous and helpful definitely come here.
