The issue comes with pricing with insurance. The sales lady (who was friendly and very helpful) said she could compare the price for $549 pair of Monclear frames with the stores discount vs my insurance. Proceeded to do the math in front of me and stated with insurance it would ~$630 vs with store discount and not using instance would be ~$600. You would think awesome savings? Wrong. She either accidentally quoted my benefits wrong or did it on purpose. Stated I had 20% off lenses when my insurance eye med covers it entirely with $15 copay, states anti reflective coating would be $99, when per my insurance should only pay $45 and stated I have $175 off frames when in reality I have $175 off and 20% off price above. When I did the math myself would be  $359.20. When she told me the insured priced it gave me a bit pause because I thought wow my insurance barely covers anything, did my benefits change drastically this year?! So I left to price shop and review my benefits. I would love to give them the benefit of the doubt but this is perfect scheme to entice a customer to use their coupon instead of insurance so they can maximize profits without having to deal with insurance reimbursement. Funnily enough if they actually quoted me the real insurance savings I would have purchased immediately. Now I certainly will not be back.

Good morning Please be advised…read more This message is for Artis L. Beatty OD and Sandipkumar Patel OD July 7th 2026-Tuesday My mother and I went to My Eye Dr. 38-03 Broadway Astoria NY 11102 718-956-3000 (Former American Eye Care Dr. Mark R Stadlen OD) for annual appointments. We both were scheduled for 3pm and 3:30pm by Peter. Paperwork was filled out for our charts and Mr. Zion assisted us very pleasant, attentive and helpful. My mother and I completed Eye exams with Zion and Peter and had a great visit with the doctor on duty due to Dr. Van being on vacation. Very great doctors. Never a problem with the doctors. We both are very displeased with the experience we had at the My Eye Dr. Queens location due to the unprofessionalism displayed from your staff members Hailey, Peter and General Manager, Rob Morrison. After seeing the doctor, doctor advised us to wait at the counter until one of the staff members came to assist. It took time for someone to come to the counter due to staff taking breaks and helping other customers. I was seen first by the doctor and no one was available to assist me with picking out the eye glasses so I went back in the room with my mother for her appointment. Once all appointments were completed my mother and I waited at the eye glass table escorted by the doctor. No one came over to serve us. Hailey was outside on a break vape smoking and Peter was on the computer Still waiting at the counter. General Manager, Mr. Rob was assisting a couple that just walked in never once did he acknowledge us at the counter. My mother asked Hailey if someone was going to come to the counter to assist. Then Hailey bumped into mother and didn't say sorry rude behavior. Still waiting at the counter. Rob was already upset due to the fact that we had a grievance letter to show him and staff member, Zion presented it to Rob and his facial expressions changed as if he was angry so he continued to make us wait. Zion put the grievance letter in our folder for review and discussion with Rob. Rob has overcharged my mother over $150 for bifocals lens over the years and the allowance always covered the expenses. Years of 2024 and 2025 multiple bills were sent to my mother for payment after paying the first amount but after a thorough investigation Health First discovered that the amounts that were spent should have not been paid. Peter comes over to serve the couple and while he's serving them with eyeglasses my mother asks Peter when will we be served and he replied he didn't know. We were next to be taken care of. This is totally unacceptable so the lady customer that was standing at the counter and started throwing up her hands and fingers and I intervened because no one was going to hit my mother. No one was aggressive but the couple but they were still served. Rob finally comes over after ignoring us the whole time and makes a comment, "Let's act like adults!" So this is where the commotion started. Still waiting to pick out eyeglasses. Unacceptable. I don't know if Rob was intoxicated or under the influence but he was acting very strange yelling at the customers me and my mother throwing his hands up and expressing are we ready to pick out the eye glasses and then kept changing his mind. Rob refuses to serve us but served the other couple that was served just by waking in. Cash customers first over insurance customers? What is going on here? Then Zion was trying to serve us so we can pick out our eye glasses however, Rob stopped the service and instructed Zion to take our appointment out the system. So our information was shredded. This is unacceptable. On the same day I contacted my mother's health insurance company to make a complaint and this matter is under investigation. My father also attended the same eye doctor location and Rob agreed to let us come back to pick out our eye glasses in 6 days from 7/14/26. Haven't heard anything as of yet. Contacted My Eye Dr. Spoke to Ava and have not heard anything from the District Manager, Mr. Erin. Thank you

I came in to LIC Vision Associates to get pair of glasses for my son who has been squinting recently. This is probably last and only place that i'll be taking my family to get any contacts, glasses or any issues with my eyes. Dr. Pauline Leong is the most amazing optometrist I have ever met and worked amazingly with my son as it was his first time at an optometrist. She quickly ran through the tests while at the same time being extremely detailed and incredibly caring and thoughtful with all of his questions or concerns. She continued to on to help him pick out the frame that looked best on my son but also the one that he liked. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything that we needed and that the glasses process went amazingly well. If I understand correctly they have designed their own line of glasses called vernon gantry specifically designed to be a great pair of glasses that are price competitive with places like costco optical. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a die hard costco fan but for a few extra dollars and for the friendship with an optometrist i trust, I will be coming here for the forseeable future. I will be returning soon for my own glasses and my wife's! My son who is 7 years also wanted to write his own review which he wrote completely on his own(#nofilter): Lic Vision Associates was the best and I really liked Dr. Pauline Leong. I like that the store is very spacious and I also think that they have everything you need for a fun experience. For example, Dr. Leong helped see which color glasses and lenses I like and helped me find the one that fit me. The tests are simple like color vision tests, letter tests, and more. Would recommend him. The women in the back who deal with the contact lenses are also very nice and easy to deal with. But the front area is a mixed bag. Some of them up there are very nice and respectful and helpful. But a couple others are irritable, fake sweet (calling you "honey" and "sweetie"), and are quite pushy and manipulative when it comes to buying frames. Those people will immediately show you the most expensive ones, assuming that everyone wants to drop $700 or $800 on the frames alone (before the price of the lenses and all else are added). They do a lot of fast talking with the numbers and they tell you everything you put on your face looks absolutely fantastic. And if you want something less expensive, they will look irritated. They won't even show you a range of prices unless you push for that. And there was a feature on the frames I got that was unusual and it was not pointed out to me, which it should have been as a courtesy because it was not obvious and would have changed my decision to buy it. Again, this is not all of the employees in front, but one or two in particular and the other ones seem fine. Bottom line: Come here for your eye exam and contact lenses, and if you want to purchase glasses, they do have a wide range of decent frames. But don't be afraid to be assertive if certain salespeople try to push you to buy outside of your budget.
