Luckily, my insurance was accepted and I was able to get an appointment same day in the afternoon. Josh is the person who took care of my needs. He was so easy to talk to, personable, & informative. He had a good vibe & made my experience absolutely seamless. Even went over my insurance policy in detail. He prepped me for Dr. Kaur who was not only adorable, but also very kind. I felt at ease immediately, she has a very gentle touch. Josh was forever patient when it came to helping me choose my frames even though I was beyond indecisive and most likely a little annoying lol. He was a good sport and laughed at my corny jokes. We finally came to a conclusion after some additional help with Dr Kaur. Even without insurance this place is affordable so don't hesitate to walk in! Can't wait to rock my new glasses. :)

Beatty OD and Sandipkumar Patel OD July 7th 2026-Tuesday My mother and I went to My Eye Dr. 38-03 Broadway Astoria NY 11102 718-956-3000 (Former American Eye Care Dr. Mark R Stadlen OD) for annual appointments. We both were scheduled for 3pm and 3:30pm by Peter. Paperwork was filled out for our charts and Mr. Zion assisted us very pleasant, attentive and helpful. My mother and I completed Eye exams with Zion and Peter and had a great visit with the doctor on duty due to Dr. Van being on vacation. Very great doctors. Never a problem with the doctors. We both are very displeased with the experience we had at the My Eye Dr. Queens location due to the unprofessionalism displayed from your staff members Hailey, Peter and General Manager, Rob Morrison. After seeing the doctor, doctor advised us to wait at the counter until one of the staff members came to assist. It took time for someone to come to the counter due to staff taking breaks and helping other customers. I was seen first by the doctor and no one was available to assist me with picking out the eye glasses so I went back in the room with my mother for her appointment. Once all appointments were completed my mother and I waited at the eye glass table escorted by the doctor. No one came over to serve us. Hailey was outside on a break vape smoking and Peter was on the computer Still waiting at the counter. General Manager, Mr. Rob was assisting a couple that just walked in never once did he acknowledge us at the counter. My mother asked Hailey if someone was going to come to the counter to assist. Then Hailey bumped into mother and didn't say sorry rude behavior. Still waiting at the counter. Rob was already upset due to the fact that we had a grievance letter to show him and staff member, Zion presented it to Rob and his facial expressions changed as if he was angry so he continued to make us wait. Zion put the grievance letter in our folder for review and discussion with Rob. Rob has overcharged my mother over $150 for bifocals lens over the years and the allowance always covered the expenses. Years of 2024 and 2025 multiple bills were sent to my mother for payment after paying the first amount but after a thorough investigation Health First discovered that the amounts that were spent should have not been paid. Peter comes over to serve the couple and while he's serving them with eyeglasses my mother asks Peter when will we be served and he replied he didn't know. We were next to be taken care of. This is totally unacceptable so the lady customer that was standing at the counter and started throwing up her hands and fingers and I intervened because no one was going to hit my mother. No one was aggressive but the couple but they were still served. Rob finally comes over after ignoring us the whole time and makes a comment, "Let's act like adults!" So this is where the commotion started. Still waiting to pick out eyeglasses. Unacceptable. I don't know if Rob was intoxicated or under the influence but he was acting very strange yelling at the customers me and my mother throwing his hands up and expressing are we ready to pick out the eye glasses and then kept changing his mind. Rob refuses to serve us but served the other couple that was served just by waking in. Cash customers first over insurance customers? What is going on here? Then Zion was trying to serve us so we can pick out our eye glasses however, Rob stopped the service and instructed Zion to take our appointment out the system. So our information was shredded. This is unacceptable. On the same day I contacted my mother's health insurance company to make a complaint and this matter is under investigation. My father also attended the same eye doctor location and Rob agreed to let us come back to pick out our eye glasses in 6 days from 7/14/26. Haven't heard anything as of yet. Contacted My Eye Dr. Spoke to Ava and have not heard anything from the District Manager, Mr. Erin. Thank you

He was the first Optometrist I've seen that listened to my issues with my high astigmatism and how prior docs just tried to force me into over-correcting my eyes and refusing to adjust my lenses despite my getting headaches! He took great care to make sure this didn't happen for me. In fact he said that my vision was pretty stable so no need to change too much. I was absolutely blown away when Dr. Shetty stayed after hours over 15 minutes - sitting by himself in the office to wait for me to pick up my glasses! I did everything in my power to get out of work as early as possible to pick them up before the 6pm closing time, but I work in a clinic and many times this isn't possible, especially coming from The Bronx. Knowing my crazy work hours and travel, he understood this and went above and beyond in accommodating to make sure I get my lenses, without any attitude or condescending remarks! That was incredibly kind. Most business owners wouldn't care the least bit and shut the door. Dr. Shetty is definitely a one of a kind, and very caring eye doctor. Will definitely keep him! Then I gave the new eyeglasses prescriptions to the optician next door at Costco Optical for processing and payment so my new eyeglasses could be ready soon. They also helped me complete the forms needed to obtain eyeglasses reimbursement from my insurance company. Costco Optical opticians were also friendly and helpful.

While waiting for the doctor to arrive i noticed how the shop was not well maintained, it seemed dingy and you can see old water stains on the walls. The Doctor came into the shop in a huff (maybe because he was late) and scuttled into the back. When he opened for us we threw on the charm and his attitude changed for the better, in fact i likes the guy - he seemed sweet and knowledgeable. When conducting the eye exam, I thought it was odd that he didn't do the glaucoma test (or any other test aside from the "is 1 better or 2") and when I asked about it he responded with "do you have diabetes?". It was odd but we went forward and he wrote down a prescription. I inquired about mine, as someone who has worn some kind of contact lenses and/or glasses for 20+ years, i thought it was interesting that my script went from minor to almost non existent - my husbands as well. Then it got weird and he was like defensive when we were honest about wanting to obtain our scripts and shop around. The people behind the counter (a younger woman and an middle aged woman) were nice, showed me a few frames and were very pleasant. However, as nice as they were, after ordering glasses, we discovered both our scripts were WRONG! So the primary function of our visit was bull in void.

Going anywhere else is a better option. never quite had an experience like this. by the way this store is using an older method of testing eye pressure, which is nothing short of giving your eye floater wonderland. We tend to need strong prescriptions, and have discovered that some places take advantage of that and charge more. Add to that the designer frames you're pushed to buy, and the prices get steep. Cohen's was different in every way. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I found the eye doctor more personable than my last one, and we exchanged jokes back and forth during breaks from the examination. All three of us were examined and prescribed our glasses/contacts in a very timely manner, no long waits or issues. Best of all, the receptionist/biller made sure that we got the best deal we could with the vouchers from my parents' health insurance, and all three prescriptions cost less than half what they did when we went to American Eyecare. We are all happy and very impressed, this will be our new go to spot for high quality, affordable eye care!

I was completely surprised to see any negative comments about Dr. Maria. My family of five had the good fortune to be referred to Dr. Maria by another eye doctor when my oldest son was finishing fourth grade back in 2005. He was struggling in school especially with his reading. I had been to my past eye doctor every year describing my son's problem to him. How there was no fluency to his reading. Finally at ten years old our previous doctor had an inkling of what it was but said he didn't treat it. That's how we were referred to Dr. Maria. Thank goodness!! She knew right away what my son's problem was and how to treat it. He entered her vision therapy and it was like he was a new student. I couldn't believe the change in the fluency of his reading and how all his schoolwork improved. We were then able to monitor the situation of my two younger children who also needed therapy later on. My husband and I also were diagnosed with the same problem which make sense since the children had to have gotten it from someone. So I can say first hand how beneficial her vision therapy is. I don't know how my children would be doing in school without her. My oldest is now a year from college with a much improved grade point average and a wonderful score on his SAT. He is actually a film student at a local high school and recently with no notice she was more than happy to let him film her for a project on a very busy Saturday morning. I was floored to see someone's comment about Dr. Maria's bad attitude. That isn't the Dr. Maria we have ever seen. On the contrary, I would say she has gone totally out of her way in many situations for us whether it was dealing with insurance or helping us navigate our way when our middle son was diagnosed with ADD. She has always taken a special and kind interest in our kids and our family. The same can also be said for her wonderful staff. I can't say how many times they have sqeazed us in for last minute vision therapy or an appointment. I think it is safe to say that our family will be with Dr. Maria until she retires which I am hoping won't be for a couple of decades! read more

Dr. Maria is awesome and i highly recommend her! This site is not really fair. It seems anyone can write whatever they want based on only one experience? I've been on here before to look a restaurant reviews and never really thought about it. After reading the reviews on Dr. Maria I am amazed at how rediculous and petty some people are. Let me tell you this, Dr. Maria and her staff have always been wonderful to me. I am in the service industry and I know first hand how hard it can be to please everyone. I've read all her reviews and frankly some of you need thicker skin. Dr. Maria knows her stuff and tells it like it is, even if it's not what you want to hear, it's what is best for your eye health. My old eye doctor, of 18 years, recommended me to her. Through her vision training my constant headaches and severe eye strain was resolved in just a few weeks. It even reduced my prescription, which had increased each year for the previous ten years. My prescription has been unchanged since I've been with her. Recently because of health issues my contacts have become very uncomfortable. Dr. Maria has worked with me for the last 6 months to provide the best option for me, which turns out to be glasses because of the nature of my illness. My point is if you want the best care for your eyes you can get go to Dr. Maria. She holds no punches as far as your health is concerned and I would not have it any other way. I'll say it again. Dr. Maria is, by far, the best Optometrist that I have ever been to in my entire life and I am 61 years old. I met Dr. Maria 13 years ago on a referral for my daughter who was 8 years old at the time. Nicole was having trouble "decoding" printed material at school. At first, we thought is was a common vision problem that could be corrected with eyeglasses. It was not. Nicole's vision was perfect. As it turned out, she had a "tracking" problem where her two eyes did not focus to the same point on a printed page or blackboard in school. This made it difficult for her brain to resolve and decode words or pictures. Dr. Maria diagnosed this problem and developed a program of therapy for Niciole involving computer images and special puzzles that ultimately, over a period of several years, forced both eyes to track to the same point all the time. Her comprehension increased slowly at first, then more quickly, until finally she had no more problems. Ever since then, Dr. Maria has been our family eye-care practioner. In addition to Nicole, me, my wife and our older daughter all see Dr. Maria for our vision care. We live in Nassau County. and her office is in Astoria, Queens. But it is worth the trip. We wouid neve go to anyone else. She is THAT good!! Also, she takes a very personal interest in all of us, never rushes us out of her office, and is one of the nicest (and most brilliant) doctors I know. read more

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Maria Asprogerakas for a number of years. Her focus and experience helped her to diagnosis a serious problem with my eyes that was causing me a great deal of problems, and yet no other doctor picked up on it. Furthermore, she successfully treated me with non-invasive therapies, whereas another doctor may have only offered a surgical solution. We will continue to see her for all of our optical needs. I've been coming here for a long time now, Maria is sweet and a fun person. She takes care of all my needs when ever I go and I love her line up of the frames for adults and children. I went to another eye doctor in my neighborhood and that was a big mistake they didn't correct my issues like Maria did. Who ever has bad things to say about her is wrong and doesn't know what quality eye care means. Overall I would recommend Maria any day ! read more

Dr. (Wilzen) Lingad is a combination of qualities you don't usually get in New York: professional, thorough, friendly, and well-rounded. She showed me pictures of my eyes, told me how to reduce redness due to allergies/irritants, gave me a slightly new prescription to help reduce nausea when I take my glasses on, and (since I'm near-sighted and don't wear glasses full-time), and tested my peripheral vision. Besides her great bedside manner, she was just a joy to speak to. She asked me about my work, told me a little bit about her family, and explained the origin of her first name to me when I told her how unique it was. And I was just a first-time patient! The whole office is efficient and friendly, including the staff working during my visit. Shout-out to Zoe who confirmed my appointment and got me started at my appointment, and to the monsieur who helped me at the end. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name, but he has a French accent that melts butter. My exam was free, as well as a pair of backup glasses. The selection of frames wasn't the most stylish, but again, they're free, and due to my insurance, that's not the doctor's choice. I'm just glad she accepts HealthFirst because I'm returning, and recommending her to all my friends. I live in the neighborhood, but I'd travel MUCH farther for her. Believe the reviews!

We verified the day before his appointment that Dr. Lingad is in network, everything's covered at 100%, I called myself to make sure, but because it's not a major insurance she recognized, she didn't want to take the time before his apt to just call the phone # on the back of his card to talk with someone and verify it . She cancelled his appointment while he was there for his appointment after he walked there, and told him to 'figure it out'. This provider needs to remind this receptionist that they are loosing business because of her being lazy, not doing her job and her attitude. What happened to customer service? I found another place that did verify his insurance he's now scheduled there.

They were fixing my glasses within 1 minute of my arriving; it took a total of about 5 minutes to fix; they cleaned the glasses for me and charged me NOTHING! This is what great service is all about. When you stand behind your products and provide your customers great service so that they keep coming back. Highly recommend them.
