My daughter and I have been going to this office for about 25 years. We originally saw Dr. Fred Furest and now we see his son, Dr. Randy Fuerst, both excellent doctors. I travel 22 miles each way and it's well worth the trip. Dr. Randy is very competent and friendly. He always makes you feel welcome. There's a self-service coffee/espresso/hot chocolate machine that is available to all customers. In my experiences, the wait is not long. All the staff is friendly and very helpful. They have a good selection of frames. I finally talked my husband into making the trip to visit Dr. Randy and he is very pleased as well. I would recommend the Eyecenter to anyone. read more

I came in for my annual eye examination and was very pleased. On this visit I was in need of having my eyes dilated which is never a fun experience. I was told that I could pay $40.00 to upgrade to a retinal photograph and not have my eyes dilated. I chose the photograph and it was the best $40.00 I have spent in a while. It was a comfortable experience and I got to see what the doctor see's. Courtney was the assistant helping me and then she started to teach me about eye health. I had never in 40 plus years of going to the eye doctor had a talk with anyone about eye health. Wow, these people really do care that I am able to see for years to come. Doctor Randal Fuerst came in to see me. I have had a condition called Amblyopia (lazy eye) since I was a wee little one. I found out after about a half hour of looking through that big eye glass machine that I may be able to cure this condition. I will be talking with Dr. Fuerst more about this on my next visit. The doctor I saw was amazing, very friendly and detailed. Going in to the appointment I understood that it would take 7-10 business days to get my glasses. I have been having extreme migraines and blurred vision but I was willing to wait that amount of time. 7-10 business days comes up and I call to check on my order and they tell me the wrong prisms were ordered with my glasses and they needed to send them back but they would have them Friday (which is today) Just to make sure everything was on track I called yesterday and they said they had just gotten the shipment in and would be calling my by tomorrow. I hadn't received a call so I came in today to pick my glasses up because I need them very bad. I was told they were sent out again and I will be able to pick them up by Tuesday. I'm extremely frustrated, dealing with these migraines are ridiculous and it seems like they can't get their ordering correct. And all I was told was "I'm sorry" after this I will be going somewhere else to get my glasses read more

(This is for the Citrus Heights location-- STAY AWAY!) It's a shame that the doctor here is so great, because her staff is very rude and unprofessional. I called and left a voicemail on Saturday morning, and I was on hold to speak to someone for about ten minutes (no biggie, these things are to be expected) but suddenly someone on the other end declined my call so I lost my place in the queue. I promptly called them back and waited another ten minutes before finally leaving a short voicemail saying that I was a patient there and I was hoping to speak to someone. The entire day went by, and no one called me back. I called them again and left another voicemail after they were closed, explaining what had happened and asked them to call me when they could. I did not receive a call at all the next day, as they are closed on Sunday (which is why I called Saturday morning because I needed to know my prescription a little bit urgently.) The third day, I finally received a call back from a Vonnie. I asked her if she could send me my prescription contact powers, and she told me she could not unless I chose a contacts brand. I asked her why that was so, and she told me that it was California state law that she could not email me or tell me my prescription unless I chose a contacts brand. I found this to be very odd, as I cannot find this law anywhere, but gave her the name of a random brand just so she would finally give me my contact prescription. On the phone, she was very short and rude. I would ask questions and she would give annoyed, short responses-- At one point, after I asked her what I should do to receive my prescription powers, she didn't speak on the other end for a full ten seconds. I finally had to ask if she was still there, and her tone was so harsh and terrible when she said I had to tell her a brand in order for her to answer my question. It felt like I was wasting her time, and it's so disappointing to be made to feel that way after I waited three days for a return phone call (to be fair, one of those days was Sunday, but 2 days is still pretty bad!) I don't feel safe in a doctor's office that makes me feel like I'm wasting their time by asking what my prescription is--I'll definitely be trying a different location. I should also mention that the entire phone call lasted about five minutes--I was definitely not being a nuisance or requesting too much of their time, especially after waiting so many days FOR that five minute phone call. I love this place! Dr. Randy took care of my dry eye. I had been to three other eye Drs. and got no relief.The gals at the front desk are very busy, but super kind. I like my glasses too. This was my first time trying the progressive lense. I had them for two weeks before I got the hand of wearing them. Just like they assured me I would. All in all a great visit. About every other year I get my annual eye exam and order new contracts or glasses. I really didn't care who performs my exam, just need it done. Guess who is now a loyal customer at EYEcenter? Me! Why? Because I got a contact lens stuck in my eye and when I come rushing into the office at 4:30 on a Friday the staff dropped everything to help me. Janet was amazing, she politely asked the customer she was with if she could help me. So nice of that customer. Both women saw I was in need of some attention and I couldn't thank them enough. Love this place! Have been seeing Dr Gittins for many years. Not only is he knowledgeable, and professional, he and the office staff are always pleasant and welcoming. They have top notch equipment for all the tests needed to insure complete eye health. I don't need to be dilated because of the machine they have that takes a picture with a bright light to see the back of your eye! Love that! Marie spent a lot of time helping me pick the perfect glasses in the price range I wanted. They have 2 offices. One in Citrus Heights and one in Rocklin. Both are excellent. read more

Against better judgment I went back after the very poor experience I had last year. It was dejevu..I arrived early - 0845 AM, thinking I would get ahead of the game having to slog through the paperwork which was basically two pages of trying to get me to pay extra money for stuff I did not need. I get to the exam room at 0910 AM and was told that it would be 5 or 10 minutes until the doctor came in. About 30 minutes later, I was told that I needed my eyes dilated, and then the doctor would see me - as I sat in the tiny exam room, blind as a bat with nothing to do for an hour, the doctor finally came in and said he was sorry. I don't want to hear it...I explained at 0845 that I had a 1015 MRI appointment and was told "no problem"..anyway, they all seemed a bit miffed that I was in a hurry..then even more miffed when I would not stick around for the up sell on the glasses I need. I received a telephone call several hours later, $600 for a pair of progressive glasses with all kings of gee whiz shit I did not ask for. I said that I would drop by to discuss my options tomorrow and was rudely told "fine, I will put your old glasses in box, with your paper work, anyone can help you" clank went the phone in my ear. I am sorry..I would not spend a dime on glasses in this place if I had to make my own out of american river sand. This is why I went somewhere else and bought the last pair. Lesson learned..I will never be back to this place. read more

I went in early on a Saturday. There was only one person waiting to be helped. There were 4 staff people standing around talking. Their tone of voice and quiet whisperings suggested that they were gossiping. I was completely ignored for at least 10 minutes. I finally decided to leave when a nice person came out from the back and greeted me. OK, I thought, we'll give this a chance. After I gave my insurance info, it was another 20 minutes before I was helped. The whole time I waited, there were at least 4 employees standing around talking to each other. They told me my lenses would be ready in a week (I had my own frames). Two weeks later, after calling numerous times. My glasses were returned. they never called me to tell me they were there. I haven't picked them up yet, in fact, I dread going back to this place. I would NOT recommend this place at all. read more
