Someone else had recommended Kolb Rd Self Storage, so I went in to take a look and was impressed by the cleanliness of the place and how nice and cool it was inside the units. Plus, Shari, the manager, was incredibly nice. In fact, over the years, Shari and I would become friends, and I'd even adopt a kitten from her when a feral cat gave birth on the property. I had my things in storage for about two years, and in that time, referred another couple of friends and clients, all of whom had positive experiences as well. Several years later I needed a storage unit again and didn't even look anywhere else. Shari was still there, and was as nice as ever, and as my storage needs changed she allowed me to downsize with no problems at all. (I'm the kind of person who visits the storage unit often to get this or that change out items, so I was there about once a month on average over the course of my rental.) All-in-all, my friends and I used this place for about thirteen years total, and I just moved the last of my things out last weekend. Shari died a few weeks ago, and Nate became the manager when Sherrie could no longer work full time. Nate is also a great guy who made sure everyone was notified when Shari passed away, and he continues to keep the attitude of great customer service that Shari had for years. Also, they have a special temperature control system that regulates all of the different aspects of the climate, so that humidity and temperature are consistently perfect. I've been there at all times of year in all sorts of weather, and it's always the same. I stored some silver antiques that didn't tarnish, lots of wood furniture that didn't warp, metals that didn't rust, candles that didn't melt, etc. Plus, nothing got that "stale storage unit" smell that I've experienced with other places. In all of my years there, nothing ever got dusty, I never saw a single bug, and I met lots of other people who have their things stored there. Every February I'd get into neat conversations with people from all over the world who use the place to store their gem show booths and cases every year, or people who had their holiday decorations stored there for twenty or more years, so I'm obviously not the only one happy with the place. When I closed my unit down last weekend, I asked Nate if he needed any testimonials, and he suggested checking Yelp. Well, I'm glad I did. They certainly deserve a good review.

By far the worst storage place I've ever had ! I've had for 3 months , maybe been there 3 times in…read morethat whole time and today I was locked out of my unit and told I had to leave the property because I had my dog with me and all of a sudden it's in my lease that my baby chihuahua who is a very very obedient, well trained service animal that you can't even tell he's with me ever cuz he's so quiet and well behaved and so small . So in order to get into my storage i had to leave my dog in the car or have someone leave work to come get him for an hour which also means he would be away from me and not able to do his job, leaving me at risk medically. Mind you I signed my lease while I had both my dogs with me not just the one and they had treats in the office for the dogs and gave me a bag when I asked for so I could pick up the poop cuz I left my bags in my truck. So how does a lease I signed then all of a sudden change without my knowledge, forcing them to be so rude with me and my surface animal to the point where they locked me out of my paid storage till I follow rules in my lease.... Unbelievable! Than tell me I can not be there longer than 2 hours and once the hour and a half mark passes(90minutes) - the employee was then at my storage door telling me to start packing up that I needed to get out of there. It was time to go and then would come back every 10 minutes to make sure I was ready to leave at the exact two hour mark - 120minutes to unload a huge house I just moved out of - impossible! How to keep my U-Haul another day pay the extra money cause I was not allowed to be there longer than two hours. And two wrap everything up with a cherry on top. My unit completely flooded when it rained today to the point where everything in my storage that was on the floor was soaked ruined or has to be washed, cleaned or thrown away cuz there was so much rain very quickly ! They had to have known that it was going to flood like that ! It was not their first day of that location that had ever rained. They have been there for years. Knowing that exact unit had to flood like that frequently and still sold to me .

I have paid my rent. They have so-called accidentally booted. My trailer cost me my trip because they couldn't take it off for three days. Then lo and behold the following month they did it again put a boot on my trailer and messed up my trip each time they were paid. They have no one on site or even patrolling the site. That's why it took three days for them to figure out my stuff got stolen. I would not recommend anybody store anything a value at this place. It's more of a hassle than anything and on top of that, they're more expensive than most. And don't give them your credit card information they'll make charges without your permission.

I tried to return the truck the same day and they were closed. The guy working there, who lives upstairs, came down and told me that I can leave the truck, but then told me there is no after hours drop off because of abuse. So, I drove home and returned at 9:15 am on Sunday to find out that they don't open until 10am. I noticed a sign on the front window that had a checklist for after hours drop offs and there was a drop box for keys. So he lied to me too. The truck had more gas than when I rented it. They charged me for 2 days, then they charged me 2 other times after that, in addition to what I already paid, which made me overdraft and receive over draft fees. When my wife went to the place to resolve the issue, they told her that they couldn't help her. I do not want to short anyone, but I do not want to pay what I did not receive. I used the truck for one day and now they are making me pay for 2? Or 3?? They advertise $29 a day and I somehow accrued almost $220 for a half day. I will never step foot in this place again.

When I returned it, I pointed out the discrepancy, thinking it was no big deal. Then some other employee (a man) came from out back and barked at me, "Did you check the gauge?!" I was taken aback by his aggression and snapped back, "Don't put this on me." He pointed to a sign that said they can refuse to serve anyone. I was livid! He then threatened to call the police! Is this their idea of customer service? I asked them to close out my bill so I could leave. While they did that I diffused the situation, but said it was remarkable that they assumed it was my fault. They told me they get people trying to pull stuff over them all the time. But I had driven it just 10 miles! What could I possibly be trying to pull?
