I've met drug dealers who are more professional than the folks who run this location (yes literally). I've always rented from Extra Space Storage, because they are clean, well-run, professional.... Well not this location! They cater to their 'business clients' who run dozens of strange fly-by-night businesses out of this facility - causing traffic and parking issues at all hours. Speaking of which - these business clients seem to have 24-hour access while us lowly personal tenants lose access after 7PM, yes 7pm - so better access your unit at the crack of dawn OR plan a full day of traffic. Their gates may or may not be functioning properly at any given time. Security is lax and, well, kinda optional here. Homeless vagrants and assorted unsavory folks always gathered on the sidewalk out front make these security flaws particularly critical. The company they contract to maintain their landscaping uses gasoline-powered blowers and trimming equipment which have been ILLEGAL in LA County for a long, long, long time: Just another indicator of the lack of integrity on display here! Yes, they manage to fail on EVERY level, big and small. If you complain, it will fall on deaf ears, and ultimately be met with retaliatory action by the small-minded, provincial, mouth-breathing 'management' at this location. This place is AWFUL. Haven't been able to get anyone on the phone number listed on the confirmation email and the office is closed early. They charged me extra because I didn't move in right away and put a zip tie on my unit because of it. WHO DOES THAT?!?! Sometimes, people work office hours and can't drop everything and move in!!! I live around the corner from this location, and while I have never used their services, I am giving them one star because some sort of alarm has been going off at their facility for more than 24 hours that no one has turned off. We can hear it in my apartment building around the corner as well as more than a block in the other direction. No one was in their office at 8:30 on Saturday morning for me to talk to, but they only open at 9:00, so I can't blame them for that. I couldn't find a phone number for this specific location, but I have called their generic phone number twice to request that they address this matter. The first time the customer service rep seemed very helpful, but the sound has only gotten louder. The second time I called, I only reached their voicemail. Let's see if anyone returns the message. Update: Almost a full day later, the noise has stopped and then started again, and no one from their company has returned my call yet. It seems that they only respond to positive online reviews from what I can see, so I'm not holding my breath. read more

Extra Space Storage SCAM I am so upset with this company. About 6 months ago, I moved my storage there when I saw a sale. Today without notice I found out that they increased my rent by 122%. So if you are thinking about moving your storage beware they will get you in there then raise the price with no notice. In my case, the new rent was over double the price I agreed to less than 6 months ago. I called in today and spoke to the manger Bree who offered to see what she could do. I just wonder what management was thinking when they decided to double the rent. Maybe call the renter and let them know that you are planning? 122% increase is very high amount. Granted I moved in based on sale rent rate but I feel I was mislead into spending time and money to move my stuff only to have the rates unfairly raised with no notice. False advertising and bad corporate citizenship. I will update as soon as I learn more back from them. Well they got back to me and offered me either a 70% increase in rent or a smaller unit. This is a classic example of bait and switch. Bait us by offering us low rent, then switch raising the rent after a few months. I am going to report their fraud to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC.gov) and to the Better Business Bureau (bbb.org). Buyer beware. Update after feedback from company on this review, at their suggestion I called customer service and asked for help to resolve this. They are getting in touch with District Manger Cat S. Also, after reading more reviews saw that this is a pattern for this company. Also, the positive reviews for June are misleading, June is no longer at the facility. I have used Extra Space for years. This is my first time at this location. Running short on time I called to see if I could get a unit for the following day. Luckily they had a unit available & I was able to set it up over the phone. Following the phone call there was a couple steps to set up via email to complete the process. Hidden in their agreement is that they can (and do) raise your rent at any time. 2. After ONE MONTH at the advertised rate that I signed up for ($167/mo) they raised it by 50%!!! 3. Without notice!!! 4. Only when I called them on this did they agree to a PARTIAL refund, and would not guarantee future increases would not happen. They will always use the same language: "From time to time customers may be subject to a rent increase due to the competitive blah blah blah." There's no "time to time" about it. I have been with extra space for 4 months and during that time they raised the rates from $262 to $359 which is a 37% increase. This was NOT an intro rate but "adjusted for market conditions". Like everyone else has stated, they raise your rates without notice and don't care to retain your business. I started off paying around $330 for a 10x10 and I am now ending my lease because I've been paying $466/month. They know it's a pain to move your stuff out, so you just keep paying until you can't justify it anymore. The excuse they give about jacking up rates in order maintain security and cleanliness are completely unfounded. These facilities get broken into regularly. You can't even exit because their exit gate doesn't function and is 4 feet ajar, day and night. And before the manager gets on here and responds by saying that it doesn't work because of construction, that's false. It never really did. Of the 6 times I've been here, the exit gate worked maybe once or twice. Great business model though. Happy to be exiting this money pit. read more

Sneaky shady practice! the manager didn't care to help us he called out for someone to help knowing we had just called and told him we were coming to talk about why the unit was basically half cut off and not mentioned in any email or on the web site.. also if you are on the second level they have cars parked all along the wall so brining in your truck to move is impossible!!! I've used this location before and had great customer service. Unfortunately, I can't say that I had the same experience when I tried to rent from them today. Stopped by to rent storage and no one was in the office around 11:30AM. I called twice and no one answered phone and went to voicemail. Ran some errands and stopped by again and no one was in the office. Stopped by the 3rd time and no one was in the office around 1:40PM. There was a sign in the door that stated they would be back around 2:20PM. Called the office at 3:14PM and Shar answered the phone. When I asked to see if they were open, she replied with attitude that she's been in the office all day. I told her I called twice and she informed me that I didn't because she was in the office all day. I disregarded her attitude on the phone and replied that I will be stopping by to rent storage. When I arrived, I informed her I was the person she spoke with on the phone about renting storage and she replied with attitude. Not sure if she was having a bad day, but when I asked for a manager, Shar stated she was one of the managers. I asked for corporate number and she gave it to me while accusing me of aggressively accosting her. I informed her that I was behind the barrier and was typing the corporate number on my phone. If this is their new management, I definitely do not want to rent again from this location. I don't trust this manager with my personal information. Moving is stressful enough without having to worry about someone falsely accusing me of aggressively accosting them. I am happy they have cameras throughout the facility that can back up the time of events and my actions. read more

The exit gate was not working properly at the time but the guy working there explained that to me and showed me how to get around that situation. He was very professional, and they are doing major construction to expand their facility, and as a former cement mason and current property manager my self, I'm pretty impressed as to how clean they keep the place in the midst of all the construction being done. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who needs a decent storage facility. I recently used Public Storage before this place and although it was very clean as well there was always a problem getting an available cart to haul my things in because some people hang onto them and hold them hostage even when they're not fully using them, but at extra storage they keep them locked up and they seem to be always available, but all you have to do is ask for one and they will promptly unlock it for you and give you access. I kind of feel for the guy working there having to constantly unlock and lock the moving carts back up but it is a major convenience to us customers and I really appreciate it. read more

Love the rolling carts & super smooth floors. You can haul 100's of lbs of stuff with ease. When they say extra space, they mean it. I was very happy with this storage facility until Greg the manager left. Since then the management for this property has declined. If you are in the pharmaceutical industry or any industry that requires any type of deliveries good luck.... That's why I moved there and everything changed with this new manager. I had a really important delivery refused by the manager Rodrigo and not only did I loose part of my shipment but I had to go track down my packages to the UPS warehouse. When I asked him why he had not called me, he just said I just emailed you!!!! I didn't see that email until late that day. He just didn't care what I went through. And this seems to be the attitude of this place, they don't want to do anything. They don't even have the carts available In the entrances like they used to. Now you have to go to the office and leave your ID unlike other storage units including the one that I just moved into. But when it comes to raising prices they don't hesitate, I was paying 493 for a 10x10. That's just ridiculous compared to what I have now.
