This is a great Storage Space location and I highly recommend it. I have rented a unit for about two years and it has always been very clean, very safe, secure, and wonderful customer service. Extra Space Storage San Ramon. The best climate controlled storage in this local Tri Valley of the Bay Area. I'm a returning customer from 2018. Graeme Pittock is the most courteous, friendly Store Manager I've ever dealt with. He keeps a very clean, super nice facility & is always available to help. The prices are very good & competitive in comparison to other facilities in the area. Everything is up front & no hidden fees. I ordered a large space online & the following day met with Graeme to finalize some quick points & had immediate access. I'm so happy to be back storing my things in this facility which is down the hill from where I live, such a perfect convenience, most importantly I'm so tickled to be renting again! We've been renting for about a year and everything about this location is A++. Most important to us is that we always felt safe and the facility including the bathroom is ALWAYS clean. In addition, the office staff are very helpful, and the location has easy access to the highway. Have had 3 or 4 storage space units of different sizes over the past 8 years. Very close and convenient to our home. Well-maintained facility with helpful staff. Have noticed some decline in cleanliness & friendliness as location manager has changed and facility has aged over time. But has always been clean and friendly enough to keep my stuff! Under prior manager, Michael, the speakers worked and I enjoyed hearing his choice of music as I organized stuff or made my long walks up & down the hallways on moving days. My only facility complaint is that some of our units were close to entrances and convenient for quick trips in & out, while others have been in far flung locations with long walks from the only entrance/elevator in the building. I suppose that generally depends on available units and your needs - sometimes we had business related items in storage and needed frequent access making location of our units more important. I agree with other Yelpers about the rate-gaming and fee increases. Sometimes we switched units because a deal would come along that was better than our current price so we'd move into a cheaper unit of the same size. read more

I would give this place ZERO stars after my disgusting experience here yesterday. I went in looking for a unit, as soon as I walked in I was greeted by Graeme Pittock, as soon as i was greeted I notice him look DIRECTLY at my breasts. I let it slide as mistakes happen, BUT it was continuous. He repeatedly was looking directly at my chest the entire time we were talking. I felt completely violated. I wasn't with my husband, and I was in shock, I didn't know what to say or do at the time. I let him show me a unit, and as i got off the golf cart this PERVERT looked directly at my butt. He didn't move off of that golf cart until I was off, as if he purposely wanted to look at my butt. Even as he was showing me the unit he was consistently looking at my chest. Keep in mind I was a t shirt on, I wasn't provocatively dressed in the slightest. Even if i was, that doesn't make it right. Im sure if he did this to me, as obvious as he was, he has done it it other woman. I am speaking for us all. DONT GO HERE!!!!!! Now I feel like I cant even go to any other facility without my husbands presence which is just ridiculous. HE NEEDS TO LOSE HIS JOB! AVOID! Do not trust this place to hold a reservation for you. Even if you have reservation confirmation and they have taken your charge card info they will give your unit away and leave you high and dry. I made an online reservation then called and spoke with Maria who could not decipher the reservation I had made on the Extra Space website. I helped her through it and we agreed on a move in date for my reservation. One week later I called to get the details of how and when to bring my truck by and was told my reservation had been canceled because I had made it seven days ago. I had actually made the reservation six days ago and had already given my payment information. The "gentleman" who I spoke with said he would be happy to reserve me a larger unit for extra cash. These people are either inept or shysters. Do not get screwed by them, choose another place even if you pay more. I called the corporate complaint line and they had all the records of the online transaction and were apologetic. Sounds like they had their stuff together so it must be just this location. The good: This is a nice clean facility comparable to others in the area. It has good security and lighting. Units are climate controlled. The bad: Doors on smaller units are flimsy and can easy be broken into with a simple screwdriver in a couple minutes. The carts that are provided are in constant disrepair. This leaves about 3 working ones that are quickly snatched up often leaving you to carry things by hand. The manager here is...well...horrible. She is very rude and condescending. For some reason as the manger of a storage facility she feels the need to make herself feel important at the expense of the customer. It is unbearable to be around her, one of the main reasons I moved to a nearby facility. Extra Space also likes to play rate games by luring you in at a low rate and then constantly raising the rates without cause. While I believe this is common practice in the industry, most places will at least advertise them as promotional rates and let you know when they expire. Extra space however, does not. My rates rose 16% in one year. I was told this was due to the "rising costs in providing top-notch service and a clean, secure facility." I'm afraid that I don't buy that excuse. Operations and maintenance rates drop in a poor economy. When I called and asked specifically what costs have increased, the question was dodged and the manager again seemed irritated to even talk to a customer. In summary, this is a nice facility, but it not worth it due to the problems with management. There are plenty of comparable storage facilities in the area that actually know what customer service is. read more

I had a unit here 10 years ago so when my husband and I were looking to rent a storage unit we looked this place up again. Jason was extremely helpful and the unit was great. Prices are competitive but the gate hours are MUCH better here than anywhere else in the area. Another reason to go with Extra Space is the month to month lease and the paperless billing. They even have you sign everything online so they aren't wasting a bunch of paper, which is awesome. Highly recommended. read more

I'm a returning Extra Space customer. I previously used Extra Space in Tracy, and was satisfied with their service. So I checked out this Extra Space facility in San Ramon. This facility is very clean and the site manager is very professional and helpful. Also, site manager was patient with me to inspect the available storage units of 2 sizes I was considering. There was no pressure to make up my mind, and I had returned a second time to check again. The cost was cheaper to a local competitors in San Ramon. I found this out because Extra Space offered to "reserve" the unit of my choice for 7 days without a deposit or providing a credit card swipe since they had a second identical-size unit available. This offered me the ability to comparison shop to make sure I made the right choice, and no one else could snag the specific unit I wanted at Extra Space while checking a competitor. A few other reasons why I preferred this facility is because of the facility location, easy of access due to low-traffic street to get in and get out with moving truck and facility buildings spaced to accommodated the cornering of a 35' (bumper-to-bumper) sized moving truck. There are other options in other cities where the cost can be cheaper; however, you need to confirm what it is worth to you on distance to your belongings, cleanliness of the facility and professionalism of the staff you would be dealing with. I recommend to check this Extra Space Storage facility and make up your own mind. read more

She did not seem to care about customer service at all, and was very rude and short when answering my questions. This is a great storage facility - very clean with excellent gate hours. It is by far the best I've used. However, beware the rate increases. I've been with them for 23 months. I'm on my 3rd rate increase in that time. I'm now paying almost 24% more than I did when I first signed with them. That's almost a 12% annual increase. This seems extremely excessive to me. My last storage place had only one rate increase over six years and that one rate increase was only 8% total (around 1.5% per year on average). read more
