I use two different storage facilities in the area, and this is the better of the two for sure. Very clean, and no problems with bugs or other critters. I have a climate controlled unit, and very happy with it. I've been happy with the people who work here as well, although I'll admit that I haven't had the need to interface with them a whole lot. About the only 'nit' that I can come up with (and I had to dig deep) is their entry / exit keypad is mounted pretty low. It's designed for a regular car, I'd guess, and I would think trucks come and go on a regular basis to a storage facility don't they? Anyway, it's not a huge problem for me... but then my truck isn't the biggest truck out there either. read more

BEWARE OF STEVES NICE GUY IM YOUR FRIEND BULLSHIT! He acts like this charismatic nice guy but I feel he uses this nice guy stuff to "hoodwink" you into higher costs. Make sure you get a signed copy of your contract before you electronically sign on their computer. He makes you do this, ave you can't see the costs on the signing page on the computer screen! I rented a 10x10 for a good rate and then after a month they doubled the rate to $270 and I found I could rent a 10x20 in Rocklin at Rocklin Del Rio storage. I told Steve this and he said he could give me the same deal, changed my unit a d I signed on the computer. The first charge posts to my card at $373! I tell Steve and he acts like he doesn't know what's going on, I tell him about our conversation on the units and says o I can't do $270 and you signed the $373 contract, I told him I never saw $373 because I electronically signed in his computer. So now I have to go to Rocklin Del Rio moving my stuff a 3rd time. I would not rent storage here, go to Rocklin Del Rio, straight up contract and better rates. read more

We're moving to an apartment short term and simply won't have room for all of our furniture; specifically we have a couple kayaks that will be getting some use and we wanted a facility with drive up access. Rented via the website, chose the size I needed, signed the lease, received+selected reasonable insurance options and got quick text confirmations, a map, and both the gate code and lock information. Wow was that easy! Got a call the next morning from the manager Steve who confirmed I knew where my unit was, how to get there, and that my correct unit and code # were included. Steve did mention the online portal process was new but honestly it was the easiest yet! Thanks for the quick rental process + follow up! Hoping it's just as smooth getting some items in this weekend... UPDATE: got into the 10x10ft locker and it was (from the inside) closer to 9ft4inches by 9ft2; give or take a couple inches for the ground that was slightly raised. I'm going to assume the advertised sizes are including the bricks and outside of the unit. Although, I feel like online it specifically advertised the inside unit of 10x10. Disappointed we can't fit as much as we were expected as I have an item that it 10 ft that now is diagonal in the unit. What we needed the unit for was ok, just not as expected, and not everything fit because of how we had to adjust it. Online process was good but since the unit wasn't as expected in size, wish the images online better reflected it. read more

Rented 2 storage units from this place totaling over $800 a month and paid 3 months in advance. Was late one month and we wanted to combine the two units to lower the cost but they would not let us in unless we paid the $800 plus another $400 so we had to wait another week for payday and when we returned they changed it to $1600. So another week later they added another $400 and this is what they did until it went to auction two months later! I will never rent anything from this place they suck your hard earned cash then take your stuff. I have never had an experience like this from any of the 3 other storage facilities in the area! Reserved a unit online Saturday night. Per the emailed confirmation instructions, including confirmation number, that arrived immediately telling me to wait until the facility called and then they would send me a link to complete the lease, tell me what documents would be required etc. I did exactly that, as they were closed on Sunday, though I called Saturday night in case someone was there, and again Sunday to leave a message. Heck, I even got an email on Sunday confirming my confirmation and reminding me of my move in date and what to bring. Anyway, Monday morning I get a call to tell me the unit is not available - apparently you can 'rapid rent', rather than 'reserve' online (there's no website details making it clear a 'rent' will trump any existing reservations -what a crappy design) and someone sniped the last available unit away from me on the Sunday, the following day, after I had a confirmed reservation. wth? No serious offer to do anything other than a reduced rate on an upsell or a way more distant location. I obviously protested that I had made a reservation and expected it to be honored, to no avail, and was just told this was the way the online system worked. Seems to me the later booking folks should have got the call stating it had already been reserved not the other way around though I suppose they could have moved in so that would be a problem due to this website design 'feature'. I find this very poor form. Imagine making a reservation for a hotel only to be told it wasn't going to be honored as you're on the way there, or about to check in? Fortunately I wasn't but this is not the way to run a business. It left me with a very poor impression of the company. Beware of this issue. A reservation is not a reservation in 'Extra Space' world. Very lame. Took my business across the street where they had a far better deal anyway. Seems they did me a favor unintentionally. All good in the end. read more

I have had my storage unit here for almost 2 years. I have always had wonderful friendly service. If I've ever had a question, I have always been welcomed into the office with a smile and provided with answers. There have been several occasions where I've needed to update my card on file because it either expired or the banks issued a new one due to those new chip cards. Every time that happens, I need to go update my cards everywhere else. I forgot the first few times and Extra Space Storage gives me a friendly call and let's me know. Today, I had the pleasure of speaking with Michelle. We laughed because I came into the store without my shoes on, it being a cold day & all. Lol! I stopped by this business this morning to quickly run in and grab a price sheet then be on my way; should have taken less then a minuite. When I pulled into the parking lot I noticed an older gentleman (I'm assuming the owner since the only other car in the parking lot was a newer Audi) get up look right at me through the window. He then went over to the door, I was assuming to unlock it. I put my mask on, got out of the car, went up to the door and attempted to open it only to find that the gentleman had locked the door and had since disappeared from sight. It was then that I checked the time, 9:23 AM, and noticed that the location didn't actually open until 9:30 AM. Normally this wouldn't be an issue at all, I would have waited a few minutes, got my price list and moved on. However, watching the owner walk over to the window to look at me, and then quickly walk over to the door, lock it then disappear from sight really bothered me. Was this just because I was a few minutes early or did the owner come to the window, see a young brown skinned man wearing basketball shorts and a tshirt and decide that this person wasn't worth accommodating a few minutes early? Is it that you don't think a minority member, wearing street clothes, is unlikely to be a customer or is it that you don't want that type of person utilizing your services? I, of course, have no way of knowing what the older gentleman was thinking but these thoughts definitely went through my mind after witnessing his behavior. I was definitely going to sign up for a new storage rental here, as this location is the closest to my residence, but after the unprofessional behavior I witnessed this morning, I can definitely say I will be going elsewhere. The pictures speak for themselves, but I wish I could give zero stars. I paid monthly for a few years to have Extra Space Storage store my housing items as I was moving a bit. I went to empty my storage unit to find my items COVERED in rat urine and poop. My mattress cover that was only two months old and in great condition was torn and covered in urine (refer to pictures). My box spring had a hole in it with rats and droppings in it. I was fearful of contacting leptospirosis - a fatal disease from rat urine and droppings. I ended up throwing away thousands of dollars of damaged belongings. I contacted the manager STEVE and he was extremely defensive and rude! I was devastated by having to toss personal belongings that can't be purchased again, like items with sentimental value. The manager did not apologize once and instantly was on the defense. He has asked "well when was the last time you checked on your unit?" I explained I didn't feel I needed to and if I had, all the damage was against the wall where my belongings covered it. Again, I was paying them monthly to store my items. I didn't need to go and make sure they had their rat issue under control. He then offered no apology and started instantly stating I had removed their insurance and used my home owners insurance. I never was offered insurance through them, so I used my home owners. I asked for them to show me proof of me declining or opting out of their insurance and he could not find that paperwork. I told him my deductible was $2000 and I hope they could do something to make it right to me. Again, he told me too bad. I never had such horrible service in my life. I asked to speak to his manager, as he was extremely rude, he told "I am the manager." I was blown away at this point and told him I understood that, but I wanted HIS manager. He would not give me a phone number but said he's have her call me. I am not sure if she was even a manager or a friend of his. I gave up and took the loss of my belongings but I want to prevent anyone else going through this. Moving is expensive and having unexpected purchases, like all my belongs, was a huge financial blow. I expected an apology, but instead blame was placed on me by not having gone and searched my fully packed unit for rats. If they had offered some type of apology or small reimbursement for the damage, I would have let this go. I understand things happen but to place blame on your customers and to offer no apology is awful. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!! I will continue to spread this review to prevent anyone for suffering the loss I did using Extra Space Storage. read more

We rented a unit on 12/31/20 @$240 a month plus insurance so $251 a month for a 10X15 drive up outside unit. We just received in the mail that based on an analysis of the market the price was being increased by 20% and our new payment will now be $299. a month. When I spoke with Steve the manager he basically said he would try and submit a request to corporate and to give him 48 hours. Less than 3 hours later he called back to say he would take $30 off our next months fee but that is all he could do. I have done some market analysis of my own and this price increase is completely unjustified. I have rented storage in the past and not one time has my rate ever increased. So now we have to rent ANOTHER UHAUL load all of our belongings up and move to a more respectable storage facility that is actually affordable. And yes Steve at this location has great reviews and I do feel a bit sorry for him because this decision was not his however he did say to me that he could sign up a new customer off the street at the new rate which I interpreted as basically we signed you up got your administrative fees and as an existing renter you are no longer important to me if your going to complain about a price increase. So we have been there five months and our price was increased by more than 20%. What a shame...do yourself a favor and check around because there are storage facilities that will not do this to their customers. read more

After the move, I also received a confirmation email that I have successfully moved out of the unit - which was awesome because this was such great initiative from their side (I only saw Bridgette in passing and she remembered, out of the many units and folks moving out that day, to make sure our unit was taken care of)! Office staff is professional and friendly. However, after selecting this location based on the advertised web rate, I received a notice less than 90 days later of a 30% (+$80) increase due to 'market conditions.' If the "Web Rate" is a promotional rate, then Extra Space should be transparent enough to state so clearly. If you book a hotel room at the web rate, you don't get billed the rack rate later. The use of the term "Web Rate" is a bit disingenuous in my view. Additionally, the notice came by regular mail (a postcard) when they could send the notice by email as they do the monthly billing info. The postal service delivery was delayed and it was well short of the 30 days notice which also feels disingenuous. Unfortunately, in spite of the good people in the office, the company itself comes across as using shady business practices in order to obtain business, and no interest in keeping it. read more

I've been a customer for over 6 months and I recently saw that they were offering a lower monthly rate for the same unit I have. I pay $282 and the current rate is $219. I called and spoke to the manager and asked if she could adjust my monthly payment to the price they are now offering. She said they won't do that. Not a good way to keep customers happy. read more
