    Their standards for secure units.

    DO NOT RENT A UNIT FROM THIS LOCATION! The units are not secure and they lie about employees checking the units daily. So this past year my wife and I got deployed with the Army. We decided that we should put our belongings into storage. We checked out this Extra Storage location and believed it was a safe secure place. The employee reassured that our belongings would be safe and that they check the units DAILY! So we decided to rent a unit, which turned out to be the biggest mistake of our lives. We stored literally ALL of our belongings in this unit because we were planning on moving into our new home after the deployment. When we finally came home after a year long deployment we went to get our things to move, but instead we discovered all of our things STOLEN! Someone broke into our unit and took everything we owned. Things like family heirlooms, pictures, clothes, TVs, wife's wedding dress and more. So the next day I went back to this location to talk to an employee. I arrived as soon as they opened just to find myself waiting for the employee to show up because she was running late. Once she arrived I began talking to her about how secure the unit are and if they checked them daily. The employee reassured me that they are secure and they DO check the units daily. Well, then I threw a curveball and said if they're secure and you do check daily can you tell me why all my belongings in the unit were stolen! To be honest she looked like a deer in headlights and didn't know what to say. So she started messing with the computer acting like she was doing something. So we go look at my unit and I show her how the door hinges were popped off and glued back on. Then she asked the dumbest question I have ever heard! She asked, "it wasn't like this when your first seen the unit?" I almost lost my mind! I asked her "Does this look normal? Is this how the unit is supposed to look?" She said "no". So I asked "So if you check these units daily how did you not notice my unit was broken into?" Then the excuses began to come out. She said that she didn't notice because she was not working there when I first rented the unit and didn't know what it looked like before. First of all if they hire new employees and they're as clueless as her they do a terrible job at training and selecting people. How are you going to hire someone and not train them properly? During training they should have been checking every unit inch by inch to show her what to look for so she would know if there was a break in. But then I got another excuse and that was this location was in transition with new managers and that's why it was unknown to them that my unit was robbed. So I asked to talk to someone in charge and she said that the manager is on vacation! I mean damn a new manager just gets hired and they already get to take vacation time that's awesome! And of course how convenient for me because then I was told they would contact me as soon as possible. Well after following up several times I didn't hear from Christina the "Manager" until the following month. To this day Christina told me they were investigating and she would call me. I have had to reach out to her just so she could not have answers and tell me she would call me in two days just to never receive a call from her. Do NOT rent from this company!!! I would hate for this to happen to you and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if my belongings were stolen because of a inside job! Oh I almost forgot! Since then I have learned about three other units being robbed and the company still hasn't done anything!

He has been absolutely wonderful and a pleasure to work with. Always helpful, professional and a really warm personality. As result of a house fire and total loss of my property, I had a few things I was able to salvage and store and needed to add another unit. He was kind and understanding and helped us find the right sized unit. While my construction went on longer than expected I needed to add another unit. I have had a total of 3 units here. No issues with billing or payments. They're timely with receipts and communication for rent increase. It seems unfair, and I'm disappointed that the monthly rents continue to rise for consistent customer account's that are current. But, I know that's how the storage rental business works. The building is climate controlled, and always clean. As other customers have noted, the one bathroom is inconsistently available and often locked. Not always stocked with supplies and the faucet at the sink was broken and not promptly repaired. The elevators are a nice size and fits a lot of items with no issues. In the years I've been a customer, I've never experienced them broken. Extremely easy to get in and out of the building with access. But overall, a very nice experience. My only complaint would be the parking. At times, You have to be strategic about your visit to get parking. Over time, there were used to be a couple of women that worked in the office with Jose. Haven't seen them in a while. But, always friendly and prompt. We did not start having issues until they hired this guy, who refuses to give out his name, so we'll call him "NoName". NoName is extremely rude, dismissive and unprofessional. We walked in the office to get a cart, NoName did not greet us, and barely even acknowledged we entered the door. NoName looked up and said, "What do you want?" I looked at my husband and just walked out. Another time when he initially started working there and Jose was on break, I asked him when the manager would be back - so I could review all my contracts - he said "I am the manager, what do you want?". The tone was so disrespectful and condescending. I'm assuming he didn't know we were long time customers. But, he was not like that with a Hispanic couple that came in while he was supposed to be helping us. They were greeted warmly and asked to wait patiently, while his demeanor changed when coming back to us. Maybe it's a race thing, but I know it's intentionally directed. We typically stop in to say hello. But, I had gotten to the point where I would just avoid the office if Jose was not in the window. Jose let us know NoName was an assistant and not a manager. We told Jose about the guys behavior, and he mentioned he had been told the same by other customers and would deal with it. Apparently, it was not dealt with. I went into the office recently to close one of my units. I talked with Jose, and he advised we could leave the unit emptied, cleaned and remove our lock and let them know. I did exactly that, took pictures and video, left the unit lock off and emailed the store my proof of exit. I called in to confirm exiting and NoName answered. I explained I vacated my unit, took pictures, emailed proof, just wanted to confirm. NoName said, "why did you do that? You have to do an exit walkthrough". I let him know that I followed the instructions by Jose. NoName said, "well I'll go walk it and if it looks ok I'll email you". I said thanks and what's your name, he paused, said "well ok I'll let you know and hung up". I immediately called back and no answer. Even if that was not the process, it was definitely convenient for us and he did not have to be rude and hang up on me. They'll be losing a good customer by end of cycle. One person really can ruin the reputation of an entire business. I know it's bigger than one customer and the owner makes enough money to not care about one customer. So, I can take my business elsewhere.

Jose, one of the staff members, is absolutely the man. He's always friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. Whether it's answering questions, helping with access, or just making sure everything runs smoothly, he goes above and beyond every time. You can tell he takes pride in his work and actually cares about the customers, which makes a huge difference. Honestly, it feels like he's carrying the weight of the whole team at times--and he still does it all with a smile. Huge thanks to Jose for showing up every day with a positive attitude and making the experience so much better.

    I was a customer at this facility for well over a decade, until about 3 years ago…read more Watched the rates go up exorbitantly & steadily, the service slowly decline year by year, and the front desk employees become surly and apathetic. Example: one time I watched 2 employees posing out on the lawn, taking 'glamour pics' for a couple minutes, while another customer and I were waiting at the front desk for service... Then my unit was broken into - the perpetrators were able to push the roll-up door off its' track and force it up a couple feet, then grab everything within reach. So this business can talk all they want about security and on-site cameras, but MANY parts of the facility do not have camera coverage, and if something does happen they will be very uncooperative when it comes to allowing police to access footage when you file a police report. I had to plead with them for multiple days before they would finally allow police to view the tape before it 'timed out.' Beware these guys... Been with the Extra Space Storage on Carson Blvd in Hawaiian Gardens, about 2 miles away, for 3 years now, and they are flawless...

    We received a call from the Sheriff's Office informing us that our Toy Hauler had been broken into…read moreand that all of our belongings inside--including our side-by-side--were stolen. The storage facility never attempted to notify us of the break‑in, is refusing to provide access to the security footage, the owner will not answer the phone, and the front office staff will not disclose their insurance information. According to the police report, the thieves entered the facility at 5:50 a.m. The on-site patrol ends at 5:00 a.m., and the front office does not open until 9:00 a.m. The thieves clearly knew the facility's vulnerable window, raising concerns about a potential inside job. They used a grinder to cut through the steel gate, broke into our Toy Hauler, stole all of our property, and drove away in our side‑by‑side through the adjacent riverbed. Although the facility refuses to release the video to us, the Sheriff stated the footage is too dark to identify anything except sparks from the grinder. The gate area is poorly lit, making the cameras ineffective, and the gate is not alarmed. We were not the only victims this day. The gate was cut in three additional locations that same night, and other tenants had bikes, jet skis, and trailers stolen. These Yelp Reviews show a long history of similar break‑ins from 2016-2026, often involving thieves cutting the gate during unpatrolled hours. Despite this documented pattern, the facility has made no meaningful security improvements--such as adding alarms, proper lighting, or staff coverage during vulnerable hours. This repeated pattern of neglect strongly suggests ongoing facility negligence and raises reasonable concerns about potential inside involvement.
