This is the absolute best storage facility around. If you need storage, this is the place. We have experienced nothing but outstanding service since moving our items in and throughout the past 21 months. All staff there are extremely helpful, but Arianna has gone above and beyond in providing excellent service on many levels. The location is very ideal, close to the 10 freeway, just east of Monterrey in Palm Desert. Access is an ease with their very secure and safe entry/exit system. We have recently checked our items after a friend had a bad experience with pests at another storage facility We were happy to find that there were no pests or bugs of any kind and our items were all safe in place as we left them almost two years ago. Their rates are very fair and competitive and they have a multitude of different sizes and types of storage available. The level of disrespect I experienced during our interaction was appalling. To be told to my face that I 'cannot afford' your business is a level of shaming that no customer should ever endure. Racism and classism are real, and it was clear in the way I was looked at and spoken to. You don't walk in my shoes, and you certainly don't own me. My dad recently passed and we had to clear out his home- emotionally I was not ready to deal with anything so my awesome husband swiftly got in gear and found Extra Space. The process to book online was great, the unit was easy to access, and ultimately when it came time to remove the items and bring them home to Los Angeles, Ariana was extremely helpful in getting us checked out. Came by at 2:00 pm on Friday, standing in front of a sign that says "Open Monday - Friday 9:30AM to 6:00PM", place was closed. On the door was a clock that says "be back at 1:40pm" or what looked to be 1:40pm. Maybe it's a good place but their hours of operation are very unreliable. read more

I found an online special, called, then made the visit to get the locker. Ariana was friendly, informative, and quick to get me set up. The locker was clean, the general area was well maintained, and it wasn't crowded. So, though I see that others had issues with accessing/finding the cart, I didn't have that problem. When it was time for me to clear out the locker, as was when I was getting the locker, Ariana was on top of things. I was in and out of the office in a few minutes, cleaned out the locker, came by the office to get the final receipt, and I was on my way. I've been a tenant for over 4 years, at times with $1200+ per month in units. Dealing with Ariana, the on-site manager, about anything has been extremely aggravating and an uphill battle. She is unprofessional, unreasonable, disrespectful, and argumentative. She has hung up on me at least 5 times and has flat out lied about every incident. She offers new tenants a rent discount if they leave her good reviews (saying to use her name specifically). Have had no issues with any other employees (Jonathan, Peter, Josh, or subs from other stores). 1. She threw my stuff in the dumpster after it was sitting in the hallway unattended for *3 MINUTES*. She did not apologize, did not offer to help me retrieve the items, and callously told me to get it myself (which I couldn't as it was at the bottom of dumpster). She then flat-out lied claiming the stuff had been there for hours (it was NOT...check the cameras), and kept defending herself saying she was allowed to because it's "in the contract". I demanded we resolve to get my things out of the dumpster and then she hung up on me. I drove to the office to confront her and I was honestly very angry at this point. She then chooses to call the police instead of resolving the issue so I stayed to speak with them. The cop agreed this was unnecessary and the BEST way to resolve this was to just retrieve my things from the dumpster. So another employee got my stuff and I then I left. 2. I approached Ariana 3 times about the 2nd floor AC not working. I was soaked in sweat and couldn't breath it was hot. Each time she refused to listen, and would start an argument about how it's not broken. She told me she checks it in the morning and that I'm just coming during the hottest part of the day. I brought the concern to another employee, who checked it just to make sure. He found the AC was broken, leaking, and needed to be replaced. I was renting 4 climate-controlled units at the time. 3. My outdoor 30x30 unit door was broken where it wouldn't close if it was opened. Ariana had only given me a couple hours notice that the repair man had rescheduled so I inadvertently opened the door, jamming it again. It was an innocent mistake. Rather than just find another solution, Ariana scolded me over and over for opening the door. She was more concerned with arguing over whose fault this was and whether she gave me enough notice or not. She then lied saying she gave me 48 hrs notice when I literally had the Voicemail timestamp on my phone from that same morning. She told me there was nothing else she could do and suggested I leave my outdoor unit door wide open for 3 days and nights until the repairman could come on Friday. I had to argue with her for almost an hour to call around to a local repairman. 4. Asked Peter if I could use dumpster to recycle 20-25 flattened and cut down cardboard boxes. The very next day, I ask Ariana if I can recycle 4 flattened boxes. "Absolutely no way, I can only allow 1-2 boxes max". Her response when I told her that Peter just let me recycle 20 boxes the day before, "He's not allowed to do that!" But it's no problem when it comes to throwing out tenants belongings in a matter of minutes, right? 5. Calls me to ask if I took one of the company's spare green generic padlocks. After answering her question - that the lock was my own from my dad's warehouse - she would not take no for an answer, and proceeded to insinuate I was lying by rudely questioning me over and over about it. This is also right after I had just purchased two $15 Extra Space Storage locks from the lobby. 6. I call a couple days ago to clarify a discount that was not appearing on my online account. I was having a calm and polite conversation with her. She went from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds, creating an argument where there wasn't one. She started speaking to me disrespectfully saying "You're not going to get what you want". I politely asked her if they could add the discount to next month as I'm struggling. She rudely responds "Then switch to a smaller unit!". I told her I didn't appreciate the way she was speaking to me, she started yelling and brought up a past incident from above (that was a result of her own actions). I told her I was not going to argue with her, then she hung up on me. read more

The facility is clean, climate controlled and available for entry at almost all hours. But it has become frustrating (infuriating) that the availability of carts to move items is almost nil - I spend more time trying to find a cart than moving items in and out. The office claims that carts are being stolen and management is unsure about replacing carts which are a "courtesy" to renters- Hey, management - carts are a necessity! Otherwise you are holding our items as hostage since we can't move them without going out a buying our own moving dollys. read more

I reserved this unit a week before my lease signing date. No where in the paper work was there any notification that if I didn't arrive or call at a certain time of move-in date that they would lease my unit to someone else. This is exactly what happened. I was then forced to rent at the Bermuda Dunes location, but this time the unit was $117 (same style) monthly rather than the $94 I had reserved originally. I'm lucky I got a unit at all. If I didn't have to rent one right away I would have chosen to lease with another company. I wish you better luck. read more
