I rented a unit here about a month ago after comparing prices at several Oro Valley facilities. This Extra Space location is new and has the best prices at time of writing this I paid a year in advance to lock in my price, as they can go up. The place is clean and feels safe and I've seen staff cleaning the floors while I've been there. Sign up process was fairly simple, just know that whatever price you see, add a bit more as they mandate insurance. Melissa at the front office was very helpful and showed me 3 units to help me make a decision. I am happy with my rental choice and have already recommended this to colleagues who need space for their small businesses. One of whom already signed up as well. We moved into 10x9 storage in July 2024. On Oct 11/2024 (not even 3 mos later) we received a rate change notice. Our rate moving in $51.00 (promo). Our increase effective Nov 2024 $104.00 This is the monthly rental rate b/f ins and tax. It was over double the original rate!!!! Staff is very professional, facility is very clean - however beware that the online pricing is promotional. I have a unit there and for me, my rate doubled in price after a few months. They claim they have the right to raise the rate based on "current market conditions" however that simply means, they can charge what they want and you have no choice but to pay. My previous storage unit at Life Storage was exactly the same. This is their business model. read more

With all due respect as a consumer what do you think of the following? Truth be told without prejudice: In less than a year they raised me for the same unit 70.00 to 206.00 if I stayed! I saw a special they were running online. I was able to reserve a unit without paying right away. I was pretty sure I needed a storage unit, but wasn't sure of the timing yet. I was able to reserve a unit for a future date...again, without paying for it yet. The process was easy and only took a few seconds online. After taking a couple of days to think, I called the facility and was surprised at how easy it was to set it up over the phone. Luis (at 9255 N. Oracle Rd, Oro Valley) was the person I talked to. He was very pleasant and answered all of my questions. He explained the fees very clearly. I think Luis deserves a free lunch! read more

OK... Note to Extra Space folks: I've promised reviews, and I've received your texts & emails asking me to leave one. I've filled out the surveys, and even added reviews at the end. Can't say how many times I've done that, but... I just noticed that my reviews aren't being posted because -- after I've done all the typing & clicked on the button -- the system routes me to another couple of websites (search-engine, social media monsters, whatever), and I need to log in to get my comments to a place where they're helpful. Sorry 'bout that, but I don't -- won't -- use those other websites, so y'all are going to have to make due with Yelp. That said: This place is stellar! The bride & I are relatively new to town; we didn't have a permanent residence when we got here, so we left our stuff in a container. When we finally decided on what we're going to do, we figured we'd get a local storage box. I researched on-line a lot of different options. Given the highly variable weather (hot summers, cold winters) & desert critters, I ruled out all the storage sites that aren't indoor/climate-controlled. Put together a list of places to visit and started out. Extra Space in Oro Valley (the northern facility; there's another a few blocks south and on the other side of the road) looks virtually brand new and had a not-bad price. I explained to the guy in the office what I needed, and he latched on right away. His name is Weston, and I learned a lot about him, Extra Space and the facility in my brief visit. He helped me figure what size space I needed, got me a really good price (with a couple of other benefits), and even made sure I wasn't renting too early (because my container needed to arrive). Great deal all around, and the move-in went well. Couple of months later, I found myself back in the office. Weston wasn't readily available, but I talked with Sharon, one of his assistants and explained that the wife had ordered a kitchen-full of appliances (dishwasher, refrigerator, oven & microwave, range, hood, washer & dryer), and we were going to need a place to store them while we prepped our home. Not sure for how long, and, no, all that stuff's not going to fit into our existing storage space. Weston showed up about half-way through the conversation and not only remembered my face, but my name & my storage container & my story & etc etc etc. Once again: Everything went smoothly. Sharon & Weston did me right re the price, move-in timeframe, small benefits to help grease the skids. And they're friendly & helpful all around. Need I mention: The facility is secure, clean, well-lit & -maintained. Nothing fancy, but certainly the kind of place I want to store my stuff. Excellent all around. We had an excellent experience renting a temporary storage unit thanks to the manager Melissa. My brother and I were in town clearing out our mom's home to get it ready for sale. We walked into the Extra Space Storage and Melissa treated us so kindly and helped us quickly rent a unit, she even took us up to make sure the size was what we needed. had to cancel my unit after they raised the price by 30% with no notice. they get you with a reasonable beg rate of $66 (all in) for a 9' x 5' space, set you up on auto-pay, then increase to $86. I had to call to find out why my rate jumped so much. They cite demand as the reason. Ridiculous. read more

Second year we have used this place to store my U of A student's dorm stuff and we are very happy. Are there closer places? Absolutely, but this place is super secure, immaculate, temp controlled, and affordable. The staff is always so accommodating and that is a huge plus to me. No desire to store the stuff at the places closer to campus, the drive isn't that bad for all that I get here. read more

I will not be going back and would advise you to be careful. I am being charged for the elevator. I went to move out and my moving helper got stuck in the elevator. Westin, the manager, said he reviewed the video and saw my helper "push the elevator doors closed which caused the hinges to come off completely". So either my mover is really, really strong or their equipment is cheap. The other elevator on the same floor is also broken so I feel bad for whoever is getting charged with that one. When I first received a call about this notice the first thing I was told is that I'm going to be sent to collections for this. I was confused and repeated what he (Westin) said. He back tracked and said if I don't pay the fee then I'll get sent to collections. Not a very great way to start a conversation. Scare tactic I guess. So be careful fellow renters, I'd hate for someone to accidentally scratch the wall and be charged for new paint across the whole floor. read more
