I have rented storage units in many places and this has been my worst experience. Issues have included: blue tooth function on gate being inconsistently operating (not a big deal in and of itself), a significant increase in rent after 5 months, lack of availability of carts that were advertised as being offered, and now being charged for the entire month of March 2026 even though I gave notice of 30 days that I would be moving out on March 3. This was not what I was told with regard to move out when I rented the unit; nor was this made clear when I scheduled the move out online. I will never rent from Public Storage at any location again. Experiences with locally owned businesses have been much better. read more

I have a storage unit at this facility. And I was guaranteed a price for one full year. As I had to move from a different city because my husband passed away I've had it for two months and they upped the price to $70 after two months. I called and spoke to a man who I could not understand anything because of his accent and I asked him to repeat himself and he got very angry. They took $12 off for the next two months, that's it. However, in two months, I will have to do the same thing again. And then when I went to ask his name when he said, can I help you with anything else? He just hung up on me. What kind of place is this? This should be illegal. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT rent a storage unit from this facility. I cannot believe how rude they are and the fact that they think it is OK to justify a price gouge like that. read more

This location had been less than wonderful. I have been here several years and have the largest unit. I have had to deal with black widows and spiders all over and around our personal items. Not to mention problems with mice and rats. They have also continually increased our price. The current price for a 10x20 unit is $139/mo. I received my invoice for this month and will now have to pay $438/mo. This is the thanks we get for being loyal customers for 6 years and paying on time with their autopay. I am about moved out currently and it is the 1st of the month. They told me they will not prorate it and are now charging me for the full month. Most likely they will have someone new in the unit before then and be double dipping. This is a terrible business model if they want to keep their storage units full. I will not be back. read more

We've been renting a unit here for about two months now, and we're mostly very happy with it. The customer service was excellent when we first came in looking to tour the site and check out a unit to see if it would work for us. The employee was very friendly and helpful. She gave us all the information we needed and we decided to rent the unit then and there. The rental fee is very reasonable, but we weren't prepared for a mandatory insurance fee ($11/mo and up). No big deal, I guess, we're still spending under $50/month for a 5x5 unit, so we went with it anyway. The size of the unit is just right for our storage needs. The unit itself was exceptionally clean. We needed to do no prep work to move in. The entire facility is clean. I've seen people sweeping the hallways multiple times now. They even provide big rolling carts to make it easier to get your stuff to and from your unit. Pretty convenient. The indoor facility is always a pleasant temperature, which is good for storing stuff like photos (if you choose to do so). The security at the location seems pretty good, too. The locks are secure and sturdy. We've interacted with the same employee who rented the unit out to us since that day, and she always chats with us. Other employees have, too. They all are very nice to us. The only gripe I have (and it's kinda serious) is that the inside of the rental unit door is quite dangerous. There are two metal crossbars, and the edges of them are SHARP! My husband sliced his finger open by barely brushing against one of the metal bars. Clean slice that barely avoided needing stitches, but he did need to get a Tetanus shot, just in case. Those things absolutely need to be padded. I contacted customer service and got a call back, but I wasn't home to answer. When I attempted to call the manager back, I never received a return call. So, if you rent here, be very careful. Open your door ALL THE WAY so it isn't near you when you're moving your stuff in or out. Injury is avoidable, as long as you know this hazard exists! I wish we did beforehand! Overall rating: 3.5 stars. I'm rounding down to 3 because I expect a manager to go out of his/her way to figure out how an injury occurred on their property. read more

I've been renting a unit at the Youngtown Public Storage for years and I've never had a single problem. I've been at this unit for 2 years now, and there's been a steady flow of rent increases the entire time. I just got the next one and the unit is now more than double the original price (the previous increases were more moderate, this new one is almost a 25% hike in one shot). The kicker? If you go online and look at pricing, they are still advertising the original prices to new renters. I guess they'd rather take a chance on a new customer at low rates than keep existing renters??? read more

I just want to say, I feel so sad and disappointed that I lost my time and money by trusting these frauds to select this the storage. As a student, all I want was a safe storage and a reasonable price, but this storage set up a trap to let you rent the storage with very low discounted price and promise the size is gonna fit. The employee acted so nicely before you paid the money. After I realized my car won't fit in it at all, I called the manager and the manager said she doesn't know how this happened but there's no way I can get my money back even if I haven't used the storage for ONE SINGLE DAY. Then I went to the front desk and tried to talk reasonably, the manager was being so rude and didn't intend to help at all. She wasn't even looking at me when she's talking to me and completed denied what her employee did. Then she just gave me the number of her district boss. I called the number 6 times throughout the week and left several messages and the person won't answer them. This place wastes my several trips, swindles 250 dollars out of my pocket and makes me take almost 20 minutes to type this complaint so hopefully nobody else will go through this again. read more

For the last week I have had difficulty accessing equipment I keep on site here for work due to the negligence of the staff to keep up on their 'DegiGate System' that controls all the doors and gates. It's caused me to be: 1) locked in waiting for somebody to let me out making me 20 mins late to my next meeting. 2) locked my equipment inside rendering me unable to work for the day on certain jobs because I am unable to access my equipment. I highly doubt they're going to fix this because it seems to be an ongoing issue they refuse to invest money to fix it or something. Completely unprofessional. read more

Most companies reward you for coming back and being a "valued" customer. Not this Public Storage. We signed up online and qualified for the 50% off discount. We came in at the time we were told and the District Manager was still driving in from Oro Valley. No problem we would gladly come back. Then the bomb was dropped on us... Because we have a unit in DENVER, in great standing and no issues, we were not worthy of the first month discount. Keep in mind we are a military family and my husband is deploying so we are moving things here so I can stay with my mom. Yeah, the lady just flashed her big "go f-yourself" grin and was like You pay full price or hit the road. We stood there shocked waiting for the hidden cameras or that dude from ABC News to walk around the corner. We got nothin! This chick was serious! So we took our business down the street where we were greeted with a smile and had a storage unit in less than 20 minutes. Everything happens for a reason but wow!!! While the exuberant customer service representatives on the phone were pleasant, the actual in-person staff at this facility are less than accommodating. The billing for the unit is aggressively pursued, even to the point of asking for the next month's rent fifteen or more days early. If you are foolish enough to sign up for automatic renewal they will draw on your credit card using the same time frame. They have a large dumpster on site that serves no purpose since they guard the access to it as if it were Fort Knox. What, pray tell, do they need a dumpster for if customers are forbidden to use it? The toilets are consistently filthy; I have seen cleaner in many third world countries I have visited. To top it off, the doors of the unit require a special lock which you MUST buy from the management and is completely useless for any other purpose. There are so many other storage options in Tucson, and I only wish I had investigated them prior to doing business with these faceless corporate pirates. read more

I have been renting for about 2 years. Every year the rent has increased by $10. I would not recommend renting from them because your rent will eventually go past the competitors rates, I have to much stuff to move so I guess I will still pay the High rates. I called Public Storage in Tucson and reserved a climate controlled unit at this location. When I arrived, with the truck I had just driven alone from NC to Tucson that was full of furniture, I was told I did not reserve climate controlled. The two ladies in the office-Aysha and I'm not sure the other one's name that was there at the time-acted like they had no idea of anything at all or what went wrong. They offered to let me take a unit twice as large (much larger than I needed), at twice the price. I drove to the other location to speak in person with the person who I had spoken with on the phone to make the reservation. Even though we had said climate controlled multiple times, I thought perhaps he had made a mistake on the reservation and could help me out. (Other than offering me that unit at twice the price or a unit too small for my stuff, this location wouldn't offer anything.) When I arrived, he said he remembered me and double checked my reservation...confirming, as I thought, that it was for climate controlled. When he called the Houghton location, they told him that when my reservation was made, they came back with another customer who wanted a climate controlled unit and gave her mine. At that time, they changed my reservation. So not only did they 1. Give away a unit for which I had a confirmed reservation, but they also 2. Changed my reservation without notifying me. 3. Lied to me about my reservation and pretended they knew nothing when both of them were clearly perfectly aware of what they had done. 4. Offered nothing but to make me pay double for a year's worth of storage to pay them for lying to me and taking away my reservation. Honestly, to the poster below, if you were the end of this May, it makes me wonder if my reserved unit is the one that suddenly became available. I did not arrive outside of my reservation window (came in the same day it was made) and didn't cancel it or do anything that would have made it available, but it was given to another customer. read more

She answered all my questions thoroughly and was extremely helpful during my visit. She and the other staff I've interacted with at Public Storage deserve the highest accolades and gratitude. I went in today to check on my unit that I am moving into tomorrow. When I arrived at the facility the out of office sign was up so I waited for the agent to arrive back. I was greeted immediately when I arrived. The agents finished their current work then asked what they could help me with. I told them I wanted to see the unit I was moving into tomorrow. They showed me the unit and made sure that I was satisfied with it. We explored other options that were available if it would be necessary. Chas and Aysha were cordial and extremely helpful. Chas was great! Very professional, helpful, and explained the whole process to me. She's great at managing. The company however in my opinion us a bit on the expensive side. I rented an outside 7x10 and my monthly rent is $77 because I had to purchase the company's insurance which is fine but seriously, the half off promo is crap because of the admin fees and the $20 key which is mandated you purchase as well. Admin fees $24 and key $19 plus first month's rental, is like renting an apartment! I chose this place as it is convenient for me and thankfully for only a short while. I should've done more research. Chas is the only good thing about this place. Public Storage is price gouging. My advice, check out other facilities and compare. read more

I don't generally write reviews, but I needed to share my most recent experience at this Public Storage facility, as it differed considerably from the previous customer. I am in the process of planning an extended absence (3+) years to do some volunteer work. It has been a daunting task trying to ensure everything is handled while I am away. Working with the banks, credit card companies, post office, mortgage company, etc. has been time consuming and STRESSFUL!!! That is why it was such a welcome relief dealing with the ladies at this facility. The ladies in the front office were AMAZING!! Nicole and Aysha were extremely professional and courteous, and they answered all my questions. One problem I had...I needed a storage unit... but I didn't know what size. So I reserved the biggest one I could. It turned out to be WAY more than what I needed. Not to worry - Aysha showed me multiple units so I could choose just the right the size and location that best fit my needs. I (of course) picked one of the most popular sizes - not only did these ladies check and check and check for availability for me, but when the perfect unit became available they notified me IMMEDIATELY so I could update my reservation!!! It's not everyday that someone goes above and beyond for you like that, they really "moved mountains" to help me. The location is very clean and well kept. I was concerned about the security of my belongings and this facility is tops! With its coded entry, alarms, cameras, etc. I felt very safe. I was grateful to have the option of a climate controlled unit as opposed a blisteringly hot outside unit, they have multiple payment options which made "paying on the road" much easier, and the icing on the cake ... I was able to take advantage of a Memorial Day Sale which made my storage budget double. I can't say enough good things about my experience with this storage facility. They really went above and beyond to make sure I was hooked up with exactly what I needed, I look forward to storing with them, and I will recommend them to all my friends. I only hope all the other Public Storage locations have a front office staff as amazing as these ladies - if not - TURN AROUND & RENT HERE!!!! A+++++++ read more

STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!!!!!!. They are extremely unprofessional and DISHONEST. I signed up for a locker on a Memorial day special for a little over $70. 6 MONTHS LATER I went to pay my bill and they had raised my rate an additional $26 per month. No notice. No nothing. Just, "Here's your bill" The customer service rep on the property was useless. I called the national customer service number and got a snotty, condescending, uneducated, arrogant hispanic girl who was about the RUDEST, MOST CLUELESS PERSON I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED. I spoke with the manager about the increase, which was a total waste of time. He said it was a corporate decision. Left a message with the regional manager and he never returned my phone call. I sent a scathing letter to the corporate office in Glendale California. Heard nothing back. The only response the local company could give me was, 'we rent month to month'; which was on the contract and never pointed out. They also told me that I had a reasonable rate compared to other storage companies in the area. I also had a leak in my locker on the property. Rain damaged some irreplaceable items. I had insurance (which they told me was mandatory), made a claim and they never got back to me. Then they changed insurance companies. The lockers are not sealed well and there is a heavy film of dust all over my belongings, not to mention bugs in the locker and who knows what else. This is a VERY DECEPTIVE COMPANY. We've used numerous storage facilities over the past few years in Tucson and Phoenix and OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ONE WAS HORRIBLE! Although the facility itself is nice, the customer service was beyond atrocious! We were over-charged twice and promised a refund for months. It took at least a dozen different calls to different members of regional management in order to finally get the refund we were owed. That was after several promises that the matter had been taken care of and having to call back again after weeks of not receiving the promised check in the mail. Meantime, when we went to pick-up our storage items on moving day into our new house, the younger brunette female in the office froze our gate code and demanded another $100 before we were allowed to gather our belongings. I COULD HAVE BEEN MORE FORGIVING OF HER ERROR IF SHE HADN'T BEEN SUCH AN ABSOLUTE WITCH ABOUT IT! She was - hands down - the rudest, most inappropriate, unprofessional person I've ever come across in a customer service position! I was appalled. My whole moving crew commented on how attacking and nasty she was in handling a situation that was created by her company's mistake and her erroneous assumptions. When all is said and done, I believe the whole Tucson region of Public Storage has some shady business practices, but if you must use them, GO TO THE 9201 TANQUE VERDE FACILITY INSTEAD. Brittany and the office staff there were very helpful and courteous, despite their regional management issues. They didn't have a big enough unit available for the rest of our items, or we never would have gone to the Houghton facility to begin with. read more

It was 5 minutes after the store closed on a Sunday. It was raining and I had neglected to rent a storage locker earlier in the week. My husband waited in the moving truck while I waited at the door until someone walked by. A lady came to the door and I explained my situation to her. She promptly let me in and introduced herself as Chas. She was extremely professional, polite and went way BEYOND on a Sunday evening to help my family out! I will never go anywhere else!!!
