The people they are very nice, but as for the units the cost starts cheap three months later you get a rent increase by the end of the year, your rent will double and the next year will continue to go up every few months if you like the people and you have more money to waste than any other storage unit is the one for you ,,don't even waste your time. warning stay away from extra space are so many better ones out there. and during the be lucky if you can even get into your space when it snows. read more

although Valerie is really nice, they will go up on your rent 2 times or 3 times year and every time they go up it's gonna be at least 30% off they are a big rip off. over the years one time they actually doubled my rent with a months notice and that's why they want you to pay month-to-month because they can screw you in the end. The units all have some kind of asbestos stuff falling off the ceilings they get water when it rains there's Spaces and gaps around the doors so rodents and what not can get in. there's no electricity on the property and and very scarce lighting. Forget, if you want to see inside your unit is pitch black out the sun goes down no lighting .. if you take a unit, you can guarantee within a few months they will go up on your rent and then they will do it a few months again read more

My family and I have been using the free first month storage garage at the Extra Space Storage. The garages are quite small, and the prices are not that great. But, on the other hand, it's in a quite safe spot in New Bedford, being in the North End of the Whaling City. Despite being small enough to hold a few boxes, matresses and bureaus, It's okay for a safe spot that won't be broken into. read more

First of all, the storage unit I was shown as mine, does not look anything like the ones in the videos on the ExtraSpace Storage website. The video makes it look like a solid structure - it is not. There are gaps where the walls meet the ceiling - you can literally see the tops of boxes in the adjoining units. The videos also make it look like the walls are of a nice clean and shiny metal - they are not. The walls are old and somewhat dirty metal structural walls. The videos perpetrate a nicely painted storage room floor - it is not. When you open your door - they walls are the old wavy metal sections and the floor is unpainted concrete. The video also makes it appear that the unit is well lit - it is not. Additionally, the ceiling is something out of a WW2 army barracks - mine has fragments of old insulation still kind of attached and when I was shown the storage unit there was a lot of fallen, very old, insulating material on the floor. Kind of made me laugh because I received an email a few days before stating "my storage unit ready and all cleaned waiting for me - it was not. Just needed to swept out but I'm concerned that the rest of the insulation that is still somewhat attached to the ceiling will wind up falling onto my belonging before I move my stuff out. Also, and more importantly, the unit I chose, 10x10x8, is advertised on the website for $115/month, which it is....BUT, AND THIS IS A HUGE BUT, you HAVE TO purchase insurance. I said, I'll forgo the insurance, and I was told, "Well, we can't rent you the unit without insurance." Oh, I'm sure somewhere on the website, it mentions something of this nature but it is not front and center. This is bull - just another hidden charge that you do not find out about until you actually go to the office to secure your space. Oh, and get this, when I pulled up to this location, there is a huge banner in front that reads, "First Month Free". I asked if my unit was subject to that and was told flatly "no". I then asked, "Oh, what units are subject to the first month free?" And was told, "We have none of those left." I then asked, "Why do you have the banner up?" The woman replied, "The sign says see manager for details." I said, "Where?" She said, "Below where it says first month free." Then I said, laughing, "Oh yeah, really small in the crease of the banner...you would never be able to read that while driving by." She smiled courteously. Then I was told I needed to place a lock on my unit within 24 hours (I was not moving stuff in right then, I was only securing the reservation.). They conveniently sell locks in the office. The woman proceeded the cut open the package and then throw this packaging away when she sold and handed it to me. I guess she did this so I could not return it if I found the same lock elsewhere for less. Additionally, I could not place the lock on my unit at this time because now they were cleaning the unit out - something the ever-so-nice email stated had already been done. So, I had to drive back to place the lock on WITHIN 24 HOURS!!! If you find storage elsewhere it would be worth your while to check into other possibilities. Fortunately, I only need to keep my stuff in storage for about 3-6 months otherwise I would've definitely looked for options. read more

great service and friendly staff! manager is very accommodating and willing to help. having the manager live on-premise was one of the deciding factors in choosing this location; it's always clean and safe. my suggestions to make this a 5-star location: (1) change the hours of operation to a later closing time (2) entrance to units have a very large step which makes it difficult to roll a motorcycle into -- you'll need a ramp. There was some confusion about the "first month free" and the insurance in my opinion should be a choice. I should decide whether I want to pay for it or if I want it to be waived. The unit was clean upon arrival and signing up was completely electronic. The manager lives onsite. She is very friendly and charismatic. If I have any issues with this site I will come back to Yelp and write about it. I've only had my unit for a couple days so it's too soon to really give you info on my experience with them. read more

You can be rest assured your stuff will be safe, but it almost isn't worth it for their poor customer service and outrageous pricing. if i had time to look somewhere else i would. Have been a customer with them for almost a year and when we first started my price was no higher than 94.00. Then they sent a postcard after having them for 3 months that they had to increase pricing so it was then 104.00 although my price was supposed to be locked in for a year. I called earlier today to pay my bill that was 10 days late and they said there was a late fee and said "the system wouldn't let them take it off because i had one waived a couple of months ago.:" when in actuality they took 10 dollars off the bill as a "one time courtesy" because of the price increase. I asked the rep to look into that and she said she couldn't because "something was wrong with the screen, it wouldn't let her go back". So whatever i paid the $113. So on top of her lying to me, when i went to express how i felt about the late fee she kept interrupting me telling me about the late fee policy. I asked why she felt the need to keep interrupting me and says "oh i thought you would stop". Great way to treat your customers. read more
