The staff was very helpful the whole time, special shout out to the manager, Justin! I believe I have been renting from this location for about 10 years! In all the years, the price has always been the best in the county, which is why I have stayed all these years. The customer service is really good and the upkeep is excellent. The location is nice and tucked away in a quiet secluded location away from foot traffic. Up until now, i have been very pleased with Extra Space. Good customer service, clean facilities... I went to pay my rent this month, and noticed it is $22 higher than last month. I went to call customer service, it goes to the general support line. I select the options to get to my branch, and keep getting bounced back to the general support line. I decide to head down to the branch. It is the sunday of a holiday weekend, but the app says this branch's hours are till 10 today. I show up, the hours on the door say they are closed on sundays. Luckily, there is a little kiosk. I use that to call customer support. I explain my situation. They said that a postcard was snail mailed last week explaining the price hike. A postcard! And there is no notification by email, despite the bills being paid online. Insanity... read more

RENTER BEWARE!!! AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS! Alex, the representative that originally assisted me, advised that these locations are all owned by The Irvine Company: - 3125 Warner Ave, Irvine, CA - 2965 Warner Ave, Irvine, CA - 16242 Construction Cir W, Irvine, CA Background: I had an existing storage unit with Public Storage that was expiring on August 19th. I was looking for a new place to move my items to before the lease expired. I contacted several self-storage facilities in the area, including Extra Space Storage. I decided to go with one of their competitors until Alex called me 2 weeks ago and convinced me to give them a try instead. Alex scheduled a tour for me and when I arrived at the site, no one was in the office. I called Alex and he told me that he was at one of the neighboring properties and that he would be at the office shortly. Alex advised that Extra Space Storage is the management company that Irvine Company hired to manage the (3) self-storage properties off of Warner Ave and Construction Cir W. While I was waiting for Alex, I walked the front are of the property and noticed that the property is located right next to the San Diego Creek. This was of concern because there was no Extra Space Storage personnel on site and and a thief could access the property from the creek afterhours. On top of that, other renters from this property had posted Yelp reviews stating that numerous break-ins have occurred over the years. I expressed my security concerns to Alex upon his arrival and he advised that there are cameras on-site and that each unit is equipped with an alarm system. We proceeded to walk into the office. There was a large LCD TV behind the desk and I noticed that only 2 of the 6 cameras showed the security camera feeds while the other 4 screens were blacked-out. I pointed this out to Alex and he said that "there was a technical issue and that they were reviewing." We proceeded to tour the storage unit and I asked Alex if there had been any break-ins to any of the units in the past year. Alex said that he had only been working there for 2 months and that there were no break-ins during the short 2-month period. Alex proceeded to give me a tour of the storage unit that I would be renting. I asked him if my unit would be equipped with an alarm and he pointed to a simple wire. I didn't see an alarm or keypad anywhere. I asked him if I would get a notification if the alarm ever went off on my unit and to my surprise he said "no, but the manager would receive a notification." I asked him what happens if the manager is at another location or is asleep during the break-in and he said I shouldn't worry about it. This was not very assuring. I asked Alex if is possible for me to have a mini-solar panel installed on my unit so that I could have a Ring Security Alarm or Ring video camera installed, and he said that was not allowed. I decided to bite the bullet and proceed to sign reserve the unit despite my concerns with security at the property. I also asked Alex what the policy is for me to store a project car in the unit. Alex said that I would need to provide proof of registration. I advised that the vehicle is located out-of-state and does not have California registration. Alex said that without registration I would be unable to store the vehicle in the unit. I understood and told him that I will get it registered in CA before bringing it. I cancelled my reservation with their competitor and had Alex schedule a move-in 10 days later at August 16th (today). Move-In Day My move-in appointment was 11 am today. I called the office at 10:30 am to confirm the appointment and a lady named Crystal answered the phone. She confirmed so I proceed to drive over. Then, 15 minutes before my appointment, I received a call from Crystal again. She told me that I needed to bring proof of registration for my vehicle with me. I explained that I needed a storage unit primarily for my personal items and that the vehicle is located out of state and does not have CA registration yet. She said that "because I asked about storing a vehicle and installing a solar panel, she was going to cancel my reservation." Mind you, this is 15 minutes before my appointment. I was disappointed but kept calm and continued being respectful to Crystal. I told her that I would discuss the reservation further with her at the office. When I arrived at 11 am, Crystal was extremely rude & condescending...only because I asked them about their vehicle and security policies that I could no longer rent here. Something tells me that my security concerns were valid. My existing storage unit's lease expires in 3 days and now I have to scramble to find another location. Crystal is one of the worst property managers I have ever worked with. A business should encourage their customers to ask questions before signing an agreement. You get what you pay for. This facility has been great! This location has the most helpful and accommodating employees. I've had a storage unit with them for almost about a year now and all of my needs have always been met. I always feel safe when accessing stuff from my storage unit and the facility is clean and well kept. I have a unit upstairs and have no problem using the dolly and industrial elevator every time. Again, the employees are very nice and deserve a raise! I've never had a problem and they always go above and beyond when helping me. read more

My unit got broken into on the 6th month. The manager did not seem to care he just showed me my room was in a heaping pile and he never apologized. Someone at that facility knows exactly how to break into those units, four other units on my floor had cut hasps. Someone spent a lot of time searching through my personal belongings looking for valuables, what good is an on site manager if units get broken into? Had to make a police report and moved out. Easy and quick to reserve a spot? Yes. A little cheaper than competitors nearby? Yes. Discovered why upon entering the facility...which took several minutes, as I waited for the line of a dozen trash trucks to let me into the driveway. Finally got to the keypad and entered the code I'd been given. No problem. Drove around and went to my building. Walked up the rickety wooden stairs (elevators are freight only - bizarre, not to mention inconvenient) into a musty, hot, stagnant building with dim, creepy hallways, cheap plywood construction, and flimsy wooden doors too narrow to fit the furniture I planned to store. No rollup doors, very little lighting, narrow hallways, spiderwebs overhead...no thanks. I've been playing phone tag with the district manager for a few days to figure out how to get a full refund. He tells me to call the facility, but the phone tree never actually gets me to a person. I'm done, and I'll take it up with my bank. read more

This place has a nice bait and switch policy going. You will sign up for one price and after you have it full of your stuff on month 5 they increase the monthly rate. Knowing if you're there long term you probably aren't going to move your stuff over $30. It's a slime ball tactic. The girl at the counter said this "usually happens on the 5th month". That slip up shows that's their plan out of the gate. On month 5 they increase the rate. I have too much stuff to move so they got me. Don't rent space from these people. read more

I came home after working overseas for 5 months and went to my storage unit to find that many of my belongings had been stolen. The funny thing was there is no sign of forced entry. When I approached my storage unit, everything seemed normal, that is until I opened it and noticed things were out of place and completely disorganized. Before I left for my job, I had organized my belongings in several blue storage bins, which are now all gone except for 2, and thought it weird that boxes were open and things were out of place. Then I noticed that what was in the unit was a lot less than what I left it with. It is also weird that these thieves picked and chose which items to take and which items to leave. While filing the police report, I was told by the officer that there were 10 previous robberies in similar fashion during the summer at this location alone, yet the facility did nothing to raise the security or warn current tenants. After the incident and analyzing what could've occurred, I HIGHLY recommend that customers DO NOT USE this facility unless you opt for one of the units with a metal roller door, which means more money. Most of the other units here, like the 5X5s (which I had), have ply wood doors and the hinges are on the outside which look like they can be popped easily. The security here is almost nonexistent and there are many camera blindspots at this location. I feel like it had to be someone with the gate code or it would look very suspicious having to wait on someone for entry and exit. I had insurance on the unit but after reading previous reviews, it looks like I'm going to have some trouble with my claim because there was no forced entry. Again, either rent a more secure unit at this location or move to a different location with better security because spending $10 more a month is better than losing precious memories and over $1000 worth of stuff read more

My locker was robbed less than 2 months after moving my furniture in. The lock (that I purchased from Extra Space) was picked and all $3700 worth of furniture was moved out. There was no sign of forced entry and everything looked normal. When I informed the clerk that my stuff was missing, she rolled her eyes as if thinking, "not again." I filed a police report with Irvine PD and the officer told me I was the 5th locker to be robbed in 3 months in that facility. The worst part was the insurance company had the audacity to accuse me of taking my own stuff. It took another 3 weeks to finally get my insurance check. Pros: cheaper than any other place nearby. It's a convenient location, and my unite is close to the elevator. It's well lit and quite. My unite has a tall ceiling so it's helpful to pack plenty of stuff inside. Cons:The place is fairly run-down, the floors on the second floor bowing, and the elevator to move your stuff appears unstable. The staff members are challenging at times, as they are limited in what they are able to do in the office. They misquoted me and charged my credit card without my knowledge. I'm still waiting for my refund. There's no AC, but I also don't plan on spending much time there. read more

He made sure that I was aware of what came with the unit, and since I did not tour, they even allow you to reserve a unit and if you need a different one you'll be able to switch it out. I needed a last minute storage unit and I found this company worked out really well. I like that all of the units are on the ground level - i've had another unit where I had to take a ramp to the second floor, go inside, etc and it was annoying. Lucy was very helpful in explaining the units since at first I didn't really have any idea what size I would need. I have been renting a space from here for 4 years. I came Construction Circle West to downgrade my space and save a few dollars ( which turns to thousands over the years) and both Ariana and Justin were the picture of professionalism. They were kind, accommodating and friendly. These are traits hard to find these days in the service industry. I appreciated how helpful they were. If I could have selected negative stars I would have. DO NOT use this facility. My unit got broken into and a lot of stuff was taken; I have insurance on the unit but at first the insurance company denied my claim because there was no sign of forced entry; after three weeks of reaching out to the staff I finally was able to talk to someone and they called the insurance company and got the ball rolling but only because the facility itself filed a police report as well. Since I no longer felt safe or that the staff was providing any help I decided I would move out; no point in paying someone to store my stuff if it is not being protected. I informed Lucy a week prior that I would be moving out so on moving day I went back into the office to let her know that I was all moved out and asked if there was anything else that I needed to do and she said no she would take care of everything. I even asked if I would be getting charges another month's rent as my rent was due in 3 days and she said no that she would cancel my autopay for me. Three days later I have a monthly charge from Extra Space Storage; so I logged into my account and not only did she not take care of my moving out they also raised the rent for next month; I have only been there since June you would think you would get a notice that rent was going up or there were break ins in the complex but nope; the customer service is awful. I would gladly pay another storage facility more; you get what you pay for and when you have that gut feeling that this is all wrong when you tour the property go with that feeling and do yourself a favor and DO NOT use this facility. read more

The Customer Service here is the worse I have ever experienced. They do not return phone calls. I call each month to make a payment. In November I left two calls which were NEVER returned. I then called their 800 number to make a payment and was told I had to deal directly with the local office. I told them the two calls I made were never returned and I wanted to make a payment. They checked my account and said I was paid up until December 22nd. I called and made a payment on December 19th. Just checked my account and they not only took out for December's payment but November as well and charged a late fee!!! Do these people NOT communicate. Very poorly run business.
