We had a great experience renting a storage unit from this location. The man who helped us was very friendly and forthcoming with information about their property and policies. The hallways are very clean and the climate is truly controlled to be "room temp," unlike other places that say they have climate controlled units but simply have fans or blowers. All of the spaces are approximate sizes and some have small obstructions that impact how you can fit things (e.g., bracing, position of the rolling door). He showed us about 4 units before we found one that fit our needs. He was very patient and didn't make us feel like we were imposing or being demanding. Also, we were able to pre-pay for multiple months to avoid issues with the rental rates increasing. This is a huge bonus if you know the length of stay you're going to have. read more

Well I've had this storage for 10 whole days. And I've been locked out of my own storage for two so far. So I enjoyed owning a storage now for 8 days of access. Then my things being held hostage. My code to enter the building just stopped yesterday. Neat. I paid extra for 24 hour access. As I work at night. Live at night. But to get into my storage now I have to come during business hours to I guess discuss why I come to my storage at night sometimes. I'm 47 years old. I really don't need to be Shaparoned. If you don't want me to be able to come here when convient to me then don't offer the 24 hour access at a premium. I know I won't get compensated for these days. I know that when they took my money they were complaining. But now they are up set for my doing exactly what I paid them extra to do. Now tomorrow I have to set an alarm and get up when I'm usually sleeping to come and explain myself like a child. It's the equivalent to normal people schedule having to wake up and go explain to someone what you are doing with your own things at 3 am. Then go back. Sleep a little more and go to work. It's horrible. It's rediculous. And again if you don't want. Me here then don't offer me your pay you to do so. Period. Why offer this and expect no one to utilize it. It's insane and unprofessional. And frankly nosey. Tomorrow when I see them im going to try to get two thirds of my money back which I'm sure they will not do. And get out of here. Didn't even contract me to tell me was a problem. Inallly today on the second day of this issue I contact corporate then then inform me there was an issue. Where you ever going to let me know or just cut off my accesss and expect me to continue paying. Horrible customer service. It's blatantly abusive abd nosey. Why did you think I paid extra for the access. To not use it. Just wanted to give you more money for no reason. Then hold my possessions hostage and not bother to even tell me there was an issue. No calls.no emails nothing. DO NOT STORE ANYTHING HERE. ITS SHADY AF. Regardless of what time I'm here, mind you I'm not even moved everything in here yet, but regardless of what time I am here does not mean I'm doing anything nefarious. Run away. Avoid this place like the plague. If management were managers they would have said something. Not just lock me. Let me figure it out then neato the third day will finally get to know what happened. I've had a storage unit here for about 6 months. I used to recommend this place all the time as it was the best bang for your buck out of all my research. However, I just got a notice in the mail that my rate will be DOUBLING next month. Doubling? Seriously? If it was $20 that would be more reasonable. The staff and customer service here (and with any Extra Space Storage I have been with) have been great and should be a full 5 stars. Though I will say the one individual I came into contact that was helping out from another property pushed for the "highest score on the survey and through Google" because that's what they are graded on was a little off-putting. If you are going to rate your employees on how well they push/beg for a high rating then you should shift the focus on how well they actually perform and honest customer feedback. Location and building would definitely get 5 stars as well - it's a newer facility and I have seen the associates put in the work to make sure it stays clean. One look and you can see how the parking situation can be a pain if there is someone unloading a moving truck. It is super convenient to where I live and that's a bonus. Now for the downgrades - They are rate increase happy. I can echo that the amount of price increases over a short amount of time is ridiculous. They get you in on the amazing rate only to increase it 20-25% more over a shorter period claiming that it is making it closer to "market average" but your rate is below "market average" as a "courtesy". In all of the time I have rented from them in various markets it seems that every 3-4 months there will be an increase while units that are comparable are going for lower on the web to "hook" new customers. Their business model is obviously based on the fact that people jump on the promotional price and don't want to go through the hassle of moving out and just suck up the jumps in rate, or is based on the fact that constant turnover will bring in more administrative fees which are typically more profit. Another downgrade is all measurements are "estimated" and you may be stuck with a unit that has a support column on 1 or 2 walls which can take away from actual usable space and in my case the newer unit I rented was short almost a foot on one side. Doesn't sound like much, but when you figure out the square footage loss then it can be significant. I was aware of how they manage price increases before because I have rented from them before in a different city, but hoped that maybe, just maybe my rate would last at least 6 months because of a different area and expected my unit to be closer to the measurements listed on the website. I'll be checking out the prices and policies of other companies this week to see if it is worth moving all of my belongings to find a place that doesn't jump so much in price so often or just suck up the price increases that I'm going to inevitably have. read more

Public Storage, your time is up. There's a new sheriff in town and it's called Extra Space Storage. I had been a satisfied customer at a Public Storage in another city - note that I say "satisfied" and not "impressed", "delighted" or "thrilled." This other space was functional, but it was also older, not as clean, not as tidy. You don't realize what you've settled for until you step up to something better. This unit off Coit Rd. in North Dalllas was just what I needed. It's a new facility - about a year old as of Jan. 2018 - and it shows. The hallways are immaculate. The lockers, spotless. And the lighting is glorious! At the other place I rented the hallways were dark even though they had lighting systems. At this new facility the lights are motion-controlled. I opted for a first-floor unit as with my place before and moving in was a snap. They have five rolling carts and decent sized hallways. For those with an upstairs unit, there are not one but two modern elevators. Taura, the manager, got me processed in about 20 minutes - she was lively and professional, explaining the entire contract which, but the way, was all electronic - no fidgeting with papers! I e-signed everything and the completed papers were sent to my e-mail, never to be lost. Only nit - parking. They only have about 7 spaces in front, so you might need to park on the street (if you can manage that) or leave and come back. But for me that wasn't a deal breaker at all. I am very much going to enjoy storing my personal belongings at this Extra Space Storage. And at this location (not all of them) you can get the first month's rental free (you pay for lock and initial processing). Check them out if you need a place to store your junk! Take 635/LBJ to Coit, go south to Banner, then head west a block or two until the road slopes downward. You'll see it. read more

Some people are way too fast to get excited with visuals only until they come into deep and hidden true reality, unfortunately. Yes the building is fairly new about 3 years old. Naturally it's going to look pristine enough than otherwise... But now, to the service and finances. Well, the team of course will do whatever Customer Service PR is required or needed to be virtually pleasant and conditionally accommodating to get you to move in and have your business, initially. Sure, some employees may just be nice by nature overall and that's great for society and so be it, thank God! However, they'll try to impose an insurance fee. They do also have an administration fee on top at move-in. Then, expect to see your rental rate to go up several times within a year and so on. In other words, you can't be or become a 'loyal customer' no matter what, WOW! As in instance someone who just moved in may be paying $40/month while you pay triple or even quadruple and up ($120 ~ $160...) for the same exact unit after being a tenant for many months/years, despite the price for that unit being advertised online way less now than when you got in. Insane! And not cool nor smart at all; quite insulting! When it comes to the environment, the location seems quiet enough in general, just maybe not on some Tuesday evenings/nights and Sunday mornings due to next door church activities. Therefore with already limited parking area, it can become a challenge to park around. The local residents here can also be (amusingly) arrogant with obviously lots of prejudice, perhaps induced by ignorance, sadly... Finally, you may come across or rather often some homeless characters (women and men alike; Whites, Latinos, Blacks & Asians etc. included) who will only sneak in to drastically mess with the restroom or elsewhere in the premises and even amazingly steal transporting carts, even though among these people many also do rent units there somehow. Thankfully you do have few renters here who are very polite, clean and incredibly helpful. BEWARE! read more

this is based on what happened to me July/August 2021 at the Extra Space Storage on Banner dr. I wanted a place with Climate Control temperature no higher that 72 degrees, they advertise storage for WINE. I was told by the office staff it was, so I paid 2 weeks in advance to ensure I got space i needed, turned out it wasn't rarely fell below 80, so I ended up paying $300+ for nothing. I asked about getting my money back before I moved my stuff in and they said no, so I stayed. They have doors that lock, and cameras everywhere, i figure it's safe. Turns out I got burglarized on August 20, "so sorry" was all i got. They didn't call the police, offer any refund, discount, nothing! Lost over $15,000 of stuff! I am insured, $550 deductible and because things like my 1985 guitar was stolen, there is depreciation. I called corporate and they said they'd get back to me. It's now September 29 and I haven't heard back. What's the point of security cameras if they don't 'alert' anyone? I'll never use these guys again, and if anyone asks, I'll tell them what happened to me. read more
