Stay away. They cancel their service on day of the move …read more If I could give negative ratings. Read details below. I'm still in shock about my experience with this company today. I've scheduled the move to be available for July 27th , 2019 at 3:30 pm for 2 movers. On the day of the move, no one came at 3:30 pm nor did anyone called to inform me that they were late. Around 4 pm I received a called from this company to inform me that the movers are running behind and they will not be available until 8 pm. At 4:30 pm I received another call to inform me that there are 3 movers available at 6:30 pm, I ask if I could get the same rate considering the extremely late time and that I originally requested for 2 movers. The representative (female) on the phone stated she will check, an hour later I ended up calling instead because no one called me back. This time a representative (male) picked up, this person told me the 3 movers are already booked with someone else, I will have to wait until 8 pm. I told him I'm very frustrated with the company and the costumer service, the representative told me if I'm not happy with their company than he can cancel the service. I told him My parents will be moving in tonight, therefore I can't cancel the service. He continues to raised his voice stating that he's just a dispatcher and that I shouldn't be complaining to him. I ask him if that's the case I would like to talk to his manager, he stated he is the manager. Then he insisted on canceling the service and hung up on me. It's just not ethical to do this to someone. I ended called another company and was able to move to the apartment on the same day. I just can't believe this company is still in business.

Will 100% use this company again. They were about 30 min late which was expected since I had an…read moreafternoon slot. Once they showed up, they went right to work. Everything was brought down 2 flights of stairs and loaded into their truck within 30 minutes, and they even drove me to my new apartment. The whole move took less than 90 minutes and they charge by the hour, so this was by far the cheapest move I've hear of in Chicago - less than $200 without tip! The movers were very friendly :)

The day of the move they weren't so responsive, it was the weekend so I understand that the office wouldn't be open but I wasn't called or emailed on the day of the move for when they were arriving and we sat there expecting them to arrive between the hours they gave me,( kinda boring when you packed everything already). It wasn't until after the window of time they gave me that I got a call that they would be arriving late. I'm okay with them being late (I assume another move took longer than expected, understandable), but it would've been nice to have gotten a call at the beginning of the window to have some peace of mind that I wouldn't be getting stood up. We ended up postponing to the next day (it was getting late and it started pouring rain), and they called ahead of the appointment to let me know they were coming and arrived on time and the movers were very nice and efficient. I felt a lot better about the move and it went smoothly that day. In all, I had an okay experience, it would've been better if there was better communication on the day of the move.

Moving can be stressful so it was great that they were very responsive via email to help us plan. Movers came on time, and were professional and careful with all of our stuff. They were very nice guys and very communicative. We have quite a few live plants and everything was moved without any harm. Their rate was reasonable and I liked that we were able to tip on Zelle instead of having to use cash. They also offer rentals for reusable / eco-friendly boxes in case you don't want to produce waste with paper boxes. Their owner Miro followed up a few days later with a phone call asking on our experience and if we had any issues. It was unexpected but positive to get a personal follow up too. Finding movers was a stressful experience especially wading through other places spotty reviews. I would recommend Hodgepodge to anyone for the next move.
