Second time hiring DMS moving for my one bedroom. Communication went smoothly and the crew was friendly and great. Although my stuffs are moved out today I am moving in to a new apartment months later so I needed a storage for my stuffs. I had DMS to move me. This is part of my of my first review. I had been calling them to notify them my furniture such as my bed is loose and had screws coming out because it was not properly put together. No one has yet to return my calls. This evening as I was coming in, I heard a loud thump, went into my bedroom my mirror had fell off my dresser and lucky it landed between the dresser and heater. I have to honestly say I wanted to like this moving company because some of the workers and the owner, Lee are good people. But there are some of the workers that are rude, unprofessional, and spiteful. After they were late getting there, they move me out so slow, I got charged a late fee. As well as everything that they 'put back together' broke. There was also damaged and broken pieces of furniture/lamps I am giving them the three stars because the Coordinator, Lee and the two movers (not the packer) were very helpful and really nice people read more

This moving company really assisted my family in our move this weekend. I initially hired another company that fell short and I was worried about hiring another company on short notice but Mr.Lee came through for my family. They moved my items from a 1st floor to a 3rd floor and it went very smooth. They wrapped my tv's (which I wasn't expecting that) and also some of the glass ware too. They really calmed my nerves and I was able to just relax. Especially with having a cold too while moving which didn't help I was glad to be able to have my things moved by some fantastic people. I hired DMS movers after getting a quote from another moving company that would have cost me over double what DMS charged. Although the move started off later than the original start time once they got there they did an AWESOME job. The crew I had was NaNa (who seemed to be the supervisor) and Kyle and Quabe (I'm sure I'm spelling his name wrong). When I say these young men worked and were beyond HUMBLE it is truly an understatement. We had a move from Crestwood (2nd floor apt) with one stop at our storage facility to our home in Homewood. They took down everything, wrapped it, packed our hanging clothes and once we got to the final location they set up everything. Once everything was final I got to talk to Quabe and Kyle who were two young men and they were very respectful and as I assured Quabe I'd MOST def leave a review because when I say these young men WORKED, they worked and did an AWESOME job. I have already given out DMS' information to a couple people that I know that are moving and I pray that they use them because they will not be disappointed. read more

I hired DMS for a somewhat last minute move at the beginning of May. They were the only service that was available in my requested timeslot, and I was able to pre-pay for part of the move via Paypal, which automatically confirmed my move date and time. Then then called me within an hour to confirm the move and hash out the details. They recommended an extra man then what I had originally booked, which was fine and didn't end up costing anything extra. On the move day, they called me ton confirm the timeframe they'd be arriving in. They ended up coming on the extreme late side of that timeframe, which was my only complaint. However once they arrived they worked quickly. I had a limited timeframe to get all of my stuff in my new place, and they moved a one bedroom apartment in Ravenswood to a one-bedroom in the South Loop in about 4 hours. That is pretty darn fast. Overall, the booking was easy, they worked fast, nothing got damaged in the move and everyone was friendly and helpful. Not to mention the price was way lower than any other move I've ever had. My elderly aunt had to move on short notice and this company was the only one able to accommodate her. The owner was very professional and ensured everything would be taken care off. On moving day, the movers arrived 10 mins early to assess the area. When we attempted to explain what we wanted to be taken, the response was "we got this. Let us do what we do." So they proceeded to make a list of everything that was needed to be transported. We mainly wanted them to transport heavy load and clothing. Firstly, they forgot several items. When we called to tell them, they scheduled a second pick up. That was a no show. As far as the clothing within the closet, they failed to bring an adequate amount of wardrobe boxes. Then stated it would take too long to them and only took 1/4 of 1 closet of hanging clothes. We have since tried to contact them with fail. I would never recommend this company. read more

DISCLAIMER: The owner of the company asked me to write a review. And, I'm sure he asks every client do so. Why? Because he's a small business, his reputation and referrals are the key to his livelihood, and because he needs the results to market for him. That being said, I would have written a 5-star review regardless. Lee helped me out of an immense jam under tight deadline and with many different requests and twists to the move. And he and his crew handled them professionally, cordially, and without any up charge or last minute change. The story is too long to break out, but I needed a mover with 72 hours notice, one that could arrange to keep property on a moving truck for an additional 48 hours, a start first thing Monday morning, AND help setting up storage since I was out of state. Lee and his employees handled it all, charging me EXACTLY what they said they would, and with zero complaints from my tenant - who was under intense pressure due to her own delayed move. My husband and I had a moved scheduled at 6 pm yesterday, the movers came at 5. Which was perfect for us. I had a dining room set, 1 queen bed set with dressers, 1 king bed set with dressers and other miscellaneous items. I decided at the last minute I wanted to move some items to a storage unit, DMS workers were more than accommodating. They did inform me of the additional stop charge which was no issue at all. It took about 5 hrs or so for them to get done. My rate was $149 an hour, based on both locations having 3 flights of stairs. The workers work so hard I was amazed that even at 10 pm, they were still energetic and in good spirits. My funiture was wrapped and stored neatly in my storage unit, as well as in my home. They put together everything they had taken apart. I will definitely be using them again! read more

They were able to move a complicated bed frame/drawer piece of furniture by taking it apart and correctly building it back together. I had an excellent experience with these guys. I just moved to Chicago two days ago, and I don't know anyone or how anything works here. I called them early in the morning on Wednesday (around 8:00am), and I had Lee from the office call me right back with a flat-rate quote of $199 for two movers for 3 hours, and they could do it the same day. I was overjoyed. I had called three others businesses prior, and they were booked solid until the following week. They arrived on time. I had two great gentlemen unload my 10' foot moving truck and bring it up a second floor walk-up. They were fast and careful, and couldn't have been more polite. I'm moving across the country, so I just needed movers to load my furniture into a POD to be shipped to my new location. After calling different Chicagoland moving companies (who have high ratings) for an estimate of the cost for LABOR ONLY, I found that they were all adding $150-$300 extra to simply drive to my apartment. When I contacted DMS, not only did they give me a lower rate than any other moving company I contacted, but they were also able to give me a labor only estimate without charging me extra for the ride to and from my home. On the day of my move, the movers arrived promptly, were quick and efficient with loading my funiture, and were sure to keep me informed of their every move. I am more than a 2 months late writing this review, but life got the best of me. I just have to say that DMS movers are respectful and professional movers who went above and beyond to help me with my move. I had a few last minute items that they had no problem moving for me and moved quickly and efficiently. I went from a 1st floor walkup unit to a 3rd floor walkup, and there were no complaints. They ensured they were careful with everything, broke anything that needed to be broken down and put it back up and were mindful of walls and hardwood floors. If there were any issues, they let me know beforehand and Lee spoke with me on the phone when everything was done to ensure I was happy. This is actually probably the worst place you could use to move your furniture. It's not because the guys didn't work hard. It's because they don't use enough materials to wrap your furniture to protect it during the move. I used another company the very next day called MakeSpace and they wrapped my furniture like they were the moving the Presidents furniture so that even when someone makes a mistake it would have been protected. This is the poor mans moving company for items that probably disposable to you and I didn't know that. However if they don't rectify damaging my 4K customer MGBW couch I will become a giant pain in their asses!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I needed movers for a 2br 2ba apartment to move me from Lakeview to the west loop. I also had to move out by the end of the month but couldn't move in until the second day of May, so I needed to keep my things in a uhaul for two days. Mr Lee was very accommodating and he was able to arrange to have the truck loaded on a Thursday and unloaded on a Saturday. The two movers arrived on time as promised and were very careful with my belongings. The price was very reasonable since I had to supply the truck/gas. I would hire them again. I supplied the moving truck, moving blankets, and a dolly. They brought a wooden piano dolly, tape, and plastic cling wrap. read more

As bad as it gets Lee and his employees were recommended to me by two coworkers, so I thought I was in good hand. They came and "eyeballed" the furniture to be moved and remarked on how easy the move would be: "It's like a no move to us", they said. I felt like everything would be ok. But on the day of the move they managed to damage $7000.00 worth of furniture, and among which they literally broke in half $2000.00 worth of furniture (marble table, lamps). When faced with the evidence of their incompetency they started arguing that they did not cover damage on glass and thus would not pay for the repair of the marble table. I had to prove to them that marble is not glass! They also said that most of the scratches were easily fixable with spray paint and so they bought spray paint in order for me to be able to paint back my furniture. The colors of the paints did not match even one of the scratched surfaces. They eventually agreed to pay the repair of table and the repair of two chairs off of which they had ripped off the leather pretty badly. It took two months of me running after them by text, emails (that were rarely returned), letters threatening them to call a layer and phone calls for them to return my chairs (not repaired) along with a monetary compensation of only $650 (when they broke several thousand dollars worth of furniture). It turned out they were simply incapable of performing this thing that was "like a no move" to them. It was a calvary. Bottom line: If you are looking for a cheap, incompetent, unresponsive moving company and don't care about having your stuff damaged, they are your perfect fit. In any other case, just ask 3 or 4 of your friends (any friends, not even muscled --even kids) that are not doing anything on a Saturday to help you move, because they will perform MUCH better. read more

They were very respectful and professional when handling my furniture. They made sure to take the boxes to the rooms that I had marked on the boxes( kitchen,bedroom etc.).
