Additionally, there were all sorts of fees that were never disclosed until everything was finalized and I went to pay. Also, I have my own insurance - the person who helped me said we had no choice but to pay for their insurance the first month, but after that, I could just send in my insurance documents and she would take that charge off so the following months I wouldn't be charged. Never happened; I've been charged every month. Just a total scam everywhere you turn. Can't wait to get out of this place.

It happens at the six month mark on the nose, it seems. These are ranging between 35 and 45 percent. each. That nice teaser rate of 100 bucks is now basically twice that. While I acknowledge that it's a free market and they can charge what they please, there isn't exactly any additional "value" being added, not "extra services", not anything period, except the privilege of paying more. I suspect that like many people I will probably suck it up and pay. I think it's time the local news stations look into this, though. I suggest that if you are looking at Public Storage, you look elsewhere first, you'll be paying more in six months time. While there are not many choices, you should pick someone else and do your research first. Finally, it's worth nothing, the 30-day notice of changes is written into the contract, but the post office cannot deliver these in a reasonable amount of time, and they conveniently never email them. I've rented several units here without issue, but my most recent experience will be my last. I…read morerented three units. The access door closest to my units broke after a couple of months and has yet to be fixed. I never received any communication from the facility about it.I was told I was required to buy their locks, but that if I used my own I could return theirs in the original package on move out for a refund. When I went to move out, I brought them in and the store manager told me they could not be returned because I had leased the units more than 30 days prior. I explained that I had been told on the phone, by two different people at two different times actually, that I would be able to return them on move out. They refuse the return, and now I'm out $40 that I would never have spent. Had they just told me I needed to return them within 30 days, I would have. They pointed to fine print on a receipt that they never showed me until I moved out, and said it had been emailed at some unknown time. Very frustrating. I will also add that after 4 months, two of the units literally doubled in price with just a few weeks notice. Luckily I was able to move out quickly, but I was really surprised that they would jack up the price that high after someone who had been a loyal customer. I won't continue to rent from this facility in the future.

And I'm not talking about from the promotional rate to the regular rate. From the regular rate, they've raised it twice, for a total of more than $50/month -- $600+ a year! Not only that, but their efforts to be more technology driven make dealing with them a pain. There is no on-premises staff to talk to at any time. You have to stand in an empty lobby and talk to someone remotely over a video call if you need help. They require you to use an app to gain access to anywhere in the building. The lobby, opening the garage door, the restroom, the elevator, etc. But the apps are unreliable and inconsistent. And there's two of them. We were supposed to start using the new one but it doesn't work (the old one still does?). I wish I never moved my stuff in here. I wouldn't recommend this storage unit to anyone.
