Extra Space Storage is secure, clean, and the staff is exceptional! My experience doing business with them has been great! I have always been given great service whether over the phone or in person. Unfortunately, with the sign of the times, my storage unit became very expensive and I just couldn't hold onto it any longer. After several years it was definitely time to say "goodbye". I just went in today to get some workout equipment and found out that the unit next to mine broke into our storage broke the locks of an expensive trunk, rummaged through my things and certain things are missing. I went to the front to inform them and their response was 'we know, we are going to fix it.' I asked 'when were you guys going to notify me?' 'We were going to wait until you guys come in' he replied. That could have been another 6 months. When I asked for the other units info, I need to file a burglary police report and get a warrant for that information so I can file a lawsuit. I have been a customer of this location for many years. Through 3 ownership changes, it remains convenient and well-run. I had an incident today with my lock. Chad, the associate at this Chatsworth location, was very professional and demonstrated good old-fashioned customer service. He is an absolute gentleman and immediately replaced the lock while not charging me for the replacement in recognition of my many years as a valued customer. I did not get the name of the gentleman who performed the lock exchange; however, he was kind, courteous, and respectful. He removed the old lock and took the time to ensure I knew how to use the new lock. I am very grateful for the professionalism of these two attendants and their assistance as I am a senior citizen and find such attributes few and far between in our current culture. I have only had my unit for a couple months. The unit is very shabby and the door is really hard to shut to get the lock on. There is a giant hole in the wall right above my unit a small person could sneak into my unit. Now you send me a notice that you are increasing my rate by 30%. That is a huge increase and it hasn't even been a year. At the same time they are advertising units for less than I originally paid. Guess I have to move units now....... read more

I am very happy with the price I got for my new storage unit. The online rental process was very easy. However, after completing the rental process I received an email saying that I could move in right away and that my lock would be waiting for me in the unit, but when I got there with my stuff there was no lock where the email said it would be. The office was closed at this point so I had to come back the next morning which hindered my moving process. Also, one of the gates seems to be out of order so there is only one gate for entering and exiting the facility and the automatic sensor is broken on this gate so to get out you have to get out of the car to walk to the other side to type in the code and then come back to the car to drive out. If you like obnoxious women, you will love this Extra Space location! Daniel Daniels was the nicest guy in the world and very helpful...now you have 2 women who are horrible. I've rented in 3 (yeah I move around a lot) Extra Space Storage facilities in California during the last 10 years and this was the only location where I had rent increases 2-3 times per year. The reviews here are fairly accurate about the increases. I also have one unit at Public Storage (this one my employer pays for). Public Storage is more expensive upfront, however, you will get 1 increase a year which has never been that high. If you want something long term, Public Storage often is slightly cheaper. If you need something less than 5 months, than Extra Space is the cheaper way to go. read more

First this place is a GEM to rent from its opened until 9pm and easy access. The place is well managed and the staff is very kind and friendly. Due to Covid they are not charging late fees or doing auctions at this time which all of us out here could use that kind of break. I've been at many storage places and this one keeps me coming back mostly because of the staff it keeps. Jake is the New guy on the block here and he is a wonderful guy who takes the time to speak to you and find your needs. I told him I was interested in down sizing and he called me next day with my options. Talk about being on it. He is a great listener and his customer service skills are impeccable. Was there for a little over 3 years and it wasn't horrible .. It was just bad . There were multiple break in's that I actually seen the first month I moved in . Not too surprising because there is more than a handful of individuals who live in the units especially after office hours . Rent increases weren't that bad till recently. My rent was raised $80+ a month on a $200 unit last month . I am signed up for paperless billing so I didn't notice till I was charged. When I called I was told " the manager is in charge of increases and to talk to him about it " I came in the office a little hot headed and the manager explained they sent a post card the size of a saltine in the mail ( even tho I'm signed up for paperless billing ) and he has nothing to do with the price increase. He also gave me a I really don't care and there's nothing you can do about it attitude. Long story short I decided to move out . I was able to find a unit down the street for a cheaper price that I was originally paying here . read more

Checked them all out as well as other locations and decided to go Extra Space Storage on Prairie Street in Chatsworth after speaking to Chad. He was great. I had called several times with questions and each time he was patient, professional, and very helpful in answering my questions as well as checking to make sure I was getting the best rate. One thing I didn't like was that rates constantly change. You'll look online and rates are constantly changing so by the time you more than likely sign your contract your paying more. There is also insurance costs, etc. which bump your rate a fair amount. In summary, Chad at the Prairie location was great, but fluctuating rates really suck. read more

I've been with extra space for over 6 years. I currently moved locations and have never had any problems at the other location. Well today the manager Char at this location got very aggressive with me verbally and then said I was the one who was being aggressive towards her when I was just simply responding to her aggressiveness. I wasn't being rude all I said was I was going to pay my bill and she said there's no need for you to get aggressive with me. Which I wasn't so I didn't sweat it. I called to make my payment online so I didn't have to have to deal with her rude and aggressive behavior. So when I went on to get my gate access she said that they wil not accept my payment next month because "I wanna as aggressive". This extra space manager is extremely rude all the time and comes off aggressively all the time. I just never let it bother me because I don't have to interact with her. But I would not recommend this extra Soave to anyone. She is rude and aggressive. Not to mention when I first went into the office to pay she didn't even acknowledge that she was aware I was there then after a minute or two a car is exiting and I'm blocking the gate to which I ho out to move my vehicle she chases me out telling me I need to pay my bill. Very unprofessional and definitely shouldn't be working with people. Some people are meant to work with boxes. read more
