Moving is not fun

Moving is a pain in the neck. From renting a U-haul, buying boxes, packing your stuff and getting people to help you out. Ugh!!! This branch helped me a ton. They work with you and give support. Customer service is understatement. They do a routine inspection on the storage units to make sure they are properly maintained and safe, then call the customer if something is off - like if the lock isn't the right one, etc. Returning Uhaul Vans or dolly is no hassle. They have a space inside the storage building allocated for stuff that renters do not need but can be donated. Cool!!

Horrible service reserved a truck days in advance and when I went to pick the truck assigned they had it blocked by another truck. Do not count on this company to do the right thing. I have movers at my home with no truck to move my stiff with. Their 800 number said I would need to wait until 9am when they open, my pick up was scheduled for 7am. Thanks for the extra 2 hours of expense I just incurred from you incompetence U-haul.

So i have been a U-Haul customer for 13 years!(4-8) times a year. And I never even quoted other companies when i needed similar service. In January I rented a van PURCHASED INSURANCE! When i returned it they told me i have damaged their roof because the new yellow stick they have is broken (which it was) So I told them guys I only used ot on a highway to pick something up in LAX but yes I did park it under the tree thats why that plastic stick is broken ( which I found under that tree next to my house. I told them that i have insured the vehicle. The manager informed me that ROOF DAMAGE IS EXCLUDED and it is a $150 penalty for that. $10 insurance on a$20 a day van doesn't cover it head to toes. So I called their customer service etc... they gave me a case number and that it is up to the branch manager to make the decision to void the fee or not. (I was honestly sure they did) there you go two weeks later i need a van, and pretty much from the same branch! Who wants to guess am I going to go to U haul or find another company? ( branch manager once you read this thumbs up to you personally)

Expect to wait at least 30 min each time, returning or renting. People in the office are extremely slow. No sense of urgency.

The truck I rented was in bad mechanical condition. The interior had not been cleaned because…read morethere was dust everywhere. Company did not wipe down interior which is a big covid risk, Will be reporting this safety hazard. The office is a mess with personal information of other customers laying on desk for everyone to see. Unbelievable how careless a business can be towards personal information such as credit card information and personal identification. Absolutely horrible experience.

ZERO STARS!!! JUST…read moreTERRIBLE! TRUCK WAS TOTALLY UNSAFE AND UNFIT TO DRIVE. My family rented a 26 ft truck to move from west LA to Reseda! The THE MECHANICAL DEFECTS COULD HAVE COST US OUR LIVES!! The truck speed limit max out at 35mph while empty (driving to location) and 25mph when filled with our furniture. IT CAME TO A TOTAL STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 405 and my uncle had to improvise in order to avoid getting in an accident. To top things off the lift was not working properly and got stuck. Contacted the company and they gave us instructions to EMPTY the oil and let it run. All over the driveway of our new home! After that, the lift got stuck two more times. We ended up paying double to our movers because of extra lifting. It is now parked on the street and we are fearful to drive it back to the office for the return. I am writing this review to shed light on this company's negligence as well as their lack of customer service. They should have sent someone right away to remedy the issue or at least swapped out the vehicle. Totally illegal, unsafe and a hazard to the person renting as well as all others on the road. They should have their license revoked! We will be reporting this to the authorities in the morning!

A nightmare. Did everything online as requested. Downloaded the app, as requested. Made…read morereservation and went to pick up truck. Locations a coin operated laundry with no U-Haul Office. App asks me for a selfie, and photos of my license front and back. Did that. Waited, and then was told I needed to provide one of the following: A. My US Passport. B. The name and phone number to a relative or friend. C. A lease agreement. D. A name and phone number for a work supervisor A. I don't carry my passport with me, but I do carry my Passport card, but that wasn't acceptable. B. My wife is my only local relative, and she was working with clients, so I couldn't bother her, and why would I want to give anyone else's information to U Haul when they have nothing to do with a rental. C. I own my own house - actually paid off - so why would I have a lease agreement. D. I own my own business, and I'm the only employee. I am my supervisor. I ended up going back home and taking a photo of my passport, and waited for approval, only to be told that I had to go back to the location because otherwise the app doesn't work. It's a GPS based app and it only works when you're at the pick up location. Without a guarantee that I was going to get a truck to rent, I wasn't going to go back there. Finally, I called and asked for a U Haul office that had humans staffing it. I went to the UHaul location on Parthenia and Lindley and they took care of my in less than 5 mins. No passport required. No additional name and phone numbers requested. No lease agreement asked for. No employer verification. I got the truck and 45 mins later returned it because I needed it for a quick errand. I actually spent more time on the phone with UHaul then I did with the entire truck rental. Never again. UHaul Truck Share can go straight to hell.
