I called in and Brett went over the sizes and cost of units and held a unit until I was able to come in to check it out. I was also in need of the truck that they offer. Brett made sure to hold the truck for me on short notice for our move which in turn gave me peace of mind in knowing that things were taken care of. When I came in to pick up the truck, I was warmly greeted by Ray and he walked me through the whole process. Everything was so streamlined. From start to finish which was such a relief especially when moving. At the end of the day, I returned the truck and there was Ray ensuring that I had a great experience. So grateful to both Brett and Ray.

We had a small storage locker here for several years and they continue raising the rent each year…read moreto the point that it became ridiculous! They want $70 per month for a 3X3x4 locker! I found a slightly larger locker at Public Storage, just around the corner, for $15 per month. Granted that is an introductory rate, but even if they double it after the introductory period, we will be at $30, which is still less than half price! On top of that, they never answer their phones for existing customers. I had to call as a new customer to finally get ahold of them. Bad service bad pricing! I don't recommend them!

In addition to all of this they locked me out of unit so when I tried to put stuff in it I was not able to. They did that without warning or knowledge. These are not trustworthy people and they will do anything g they can to scam you out of money. There are plenty of other storage places where you would be working with decent management and people who will not try to overcharge you. They have also told me I am no longer allowed to rent a unit online, as the accounts clearly offer with a large button that says "add a new unit" and has the prices listed for each unit. So they charge random fees because they want to and do a bait and switch for units they offer online. Not to mention the raising prices every 6-12 months.

Naturally I had no idea where to even begin or what to look for in a storage facility, but I looked around and SoCal Self Storage in Northridge seemed like it was decent so we gave them a shot. You can call them on the phone if you have any questions like we did before you rent a unit, or if you're confident in what you want/need you can rent online. I'm old-fashioned so I like to see what I'm getting into before paying for anything. We arranged to have a tour around the facility to check out a couple of different sized units. I'm extremely grateful they took the time to do this to help determine how big or small our unit should be - it really eased my worries and I got to see how well-maintained the facility is. Even the unit we chose was clean already! They were more than patient with all my dumb questions and made signing up a breeze. They offer inexpensive insurance if you want more peace of mind for your belongings, they have locks and moving boxes if you forget to bring your own, there's complimentary carts/dollies to use at the facility, there's plenty of on-site parking, there's security patrols after hours, the elevators and first floor hallways are accessed via code so it's even more secure, all units are individually alarmed and climate-controlled, and they even offer free water bottles in the main office if you're working up a sweat. Overall we've had the unit for months now and I'm very satisfied with SoCal Self Storage. If you need a storage unit, don't hesitate to give them a chance!

Based on my experience from the owner as well as the manager, after purchasing a storage unit from…read moreauction, the terms were that if I could not move my stuff out within 72 hours, I had the option to rent the storage for $199 a month. The manager AND the owner broke that contract with absolutely no reason and simply told me to move my stuff out after 72 hours at which point the owner became belligerent when I told him I wanted to rent it for an additional month for no apparent reason. The language that he used was racist in nature and very offensive. I was told to go back to my country...well my fellow yelpers I'm born in the United States of America. This is a place you do not want to provide any business . Consider yourself warned.

We were absolutely miserable at our last storage facility, constantly having to deal with rude, mean & inconsiderate staff members, but even still, after 5 years of storing there, the thought of moving everything just seemed so daunting. But as soon as we met Susan, with how exceptionally kind, helpful & understanding she was, the thought of moving everything became less & less daunting. Meeting her made it so clear that this was the right place for us. As a family-owned & operated business they take a lot of pride in running a great business for their customers by offering a very clean, secure facility with a "home-like" atmosphere that made us feel like part of the family right away & made it even that much more of a desirable location. We have never felt safer storing our valuables with anyone as we do with them. Susan, as well as her sister Kim & brother in-law Dan all went above & beyond to accommodate us & to help make our move/transition as easy as possible (including helping us figure out storing our u-haul safely/securely overnight). Susan even stayed well after closing time, without complaint, to make sure that we had enough time to fit everything properly without damaging any of our belongings & made sure that we didn't over-exert ourselves in the process. Now that we know what it's like to store at a place like Owensmouth Secured Storage, we would never store anywhere else. Thank you for everything Susan, Kim & Dan! We honestly can't thank you enough for all you have done for us, we look forward to storing with you for years to come! :)

BEWARE!!!! I've…read morenever seen a storage facility make it so obvious that they hate dealing with customers for extremely basic things. They lock their gates at 6PM. Most places are open until 9PM. If you work a 9-5 you will be coming before work and forget going into your unit after work because you won't be there in time to begin with. This means you can only access your unit on the weekend or if you change you work schedule. I'm not sure why this place made it where you only have access from 6AM-6PM when the hours should be something to at least 8 PM being that most people have day jobs... Need to throw out a box or recycle something? They don't give you access to a recycle bin or dumpster. Extra Space and US Storage does give you access. As your rates go up, they just tell you "we charge you rent based off current market value" (it's the same line they have been trained to say and about "operational costs" but no one can tell you what the costs include. Keep in mind you clearly aren't paying for normal gate hours, you aren't receiving access to dumpsters, and good luck ever finding an employee actually in the office because get this THEY DO NOT LIST OFFICE HOURS ON THEIR DOOR OR ON THEIR VOICEMAIL! I recently went to the office (2nd time in 1 day....). The first time was in the morning after 10 AM and no one was there (in my account it says someone is there after 9:30 AM....). On their door they list a phone number as 818-491-311, but no one answers (or returns your call....the voicemail doesn't tell you the office hours or that the business is in fact Public Storage LOL), however on my account their number is listed as 747-224-6380. The 747 number is a call center with foreign employees. You call the call center and they said someone is supposed to be there at 1PM except when I called (a few times) no response again. I finally did get a hold of someone (again no one answered the phone) by driving again to the facility. Apparently this location has no office hours. You have to make an appointment, however the employee that may be in the office when you are there does not make the appointment for you. Once again though, how do you make an appointment if no one answers the phone to start or if no one is even there? All I got from the employee who was there is that there is supposed to be someone there for a few hours a day but that sometimes it may be in the morning, but sometimes it may be in the afternoon. WHY NOT PUT UP A SIGN THAT SAYS THE SCHEDULE?!??!?! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!! PS) They have rodents and roaches in the facility. PPS The responses you get on here aren't from the actual Chatsworth facility.
