0 STARS!! I was charged $135+ for my first month, when the first month rent is supposed to be free. Secondly, my storage unit is locked behind a unit that I was not given the code for. No email, text, or call informing me of the locked combination. I contacted customer support for further assistance as the main office was closed, and as kind as the lady was, was also no help. She just sent me a map of the place, where I saw my unit was inside of a locked unit. She said the owner would contact me within 10 minutes and I waited 30. Wasted over an hour of my time driving around the whole place looking for my unit, and then when I realized it was inside a locked unit I had no combination code for started trying to figure out what the combination was. Unacceptable and unprofessional. Who wants to access their unit through another? I will be coming in next day when office opens, and I expect a full refund and immediate cancellation of my rental. I'd love to take my business elsewhere! read more

We have been customers for over 10 years. We have 1 RV and 2 Large units. Seems like PRICES GO UP monthly. (Going to look at local laws on these increases) We delt with the debacle of their taking off all of our personal locks (without notice/consent) and replacing them with "electronic locks" that they said were better but still have problems with access all of the time. (it's been almost 3 years, when will they have this remedied?) I am also told that in case of a power outage, we could not access the gate and therefore our storages. The place is kept clean, but bathrooms are often out of order during regular business hours. (maintenance should be done during off hours only) My RV has been broken into year after year. They fixed some of the fencings but did not resolve the problem. We are paying "Beverly Hills" prices as there are homeless camps all around the property, as I am documenting all of this for a future lawsuit. I encourage existing customers to reach out to me for a class actions suite. read more

Pros: - Easy access with Bluetooth entry gate with app. - No need to rush there after work since they're open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Awesome! - Plenty of handcarts available. - Clean and well-stocked restrooms. - Loading area is hardly busy, great for parking. - They have flash sales! Check the site often. - Staff is friendly and helpful, which is a plus. Cons: - Be ready for a price change after 3 or so months (not a ridiculously high price change, but check with the staff if you think it is). - You literally need to hold your phone next to the keypad for entry and exit. It would be nice to drive up to the gate instead, and unlock it from there. read more

When they switched from the lock that I HAD TO PAY FOR SEPARATELY when I first set up with them to a digital access, I KNEW there was going to be a problem sooner or later. Now, here I am in front of my unit, and the app will not connect with the door. Just moved out of this storage, not because of anything bad, we needed somewhere closer to home because we moved. But this place was really amazing, Andrea in the front office helped us so much when we moved out. I'm definitely going to miss the keyless entry. That was one of the best options they had! The reason for the low stars is that I got my storage unit in April 2022 and was paying $183 all of a sudden I get a text that my payment posted for this month and it went up to $263 it went up $80 . They could have done small increases at a time each month but no from one month to the next $80 more a month. Talk about price gauging its really sad how companies know you need something and so they take advantage of that need. read more

Today I found out my unit was burglarized. Minimal damage to the lock (dezel) cylinder lock. Asked the employee and employee was told by their manager that these types of locks have never been sold at that location. I said that was a lie as this was a brand new lock purchased at the location about 5 years ago and many other storage units had the same key (dezel) cylinder lock. I asked about video surveillance and how long it dated back. Employee mentioned 3 months. I also asked if anyone has reported any units being burglarized recently and their reply was no. I also asked about patrolling and checking storage units and the employee mentioned they do daily checks. I don't want to say but this really leads me to believe that someone has a key that can open most of the dezel key cylinder type locks. Why would anyone just burglarize one unit, then lock my unit back up as if nothing happened. I am sketchy about this buglary and already filed a police report for theft and burglary. I have also asked for fingerprint checking on the storage unit. I am now trying to find under California law a way to obtain all of the video surveillance. If anyone on here reads this post and knows of that specific law, please help me as I've lost many belongings from my unit. Found a comment from Criminal Defense Attorney on a method to store and retrieve the video footage. I will be writing a letter and sending an email to Extra Space Storage to save the video footage under the following cases mentioned below. Quote from Criminal Defense Attorney Greg Thomas Hill: You can, but it will take some work. First, however, I would immediately and personally deliver a demand to preserve evidence letter to the self-storage unit to demand that they save the security camera video. Under California law, the self storage business is unit a duty to preserve all audio and/or video recording(s) once notified, as your letter does, concerning an incident that may lead to a lawsuit or prosecution. In California, in a civil context, a failure to preserve evidence after being given notice to preserve it may result in terminating sanctions to the party in possession of the evidence. Cedars-Sinai Med. Ctr. v. Sup. Ct. (Bowyer) (1998) 18 Cal.4th 486, 494-97. In a criminal context in California, the failure to produce such evidence may also lead to dismissal of the case. California v. Trombetta (1984) 467 U.S. 479, 488, 82 L.Ed.2d 413, 104 S.Ct. 2528 and Arizona v. Youngblood (1988) 488 U.S. 51, 58, 102 L.Ed.2d 281, 109 S.Ct. 333; see also People v. I would then contact the police, make a claim with the self-storage unit's insurance and contact a civil litigation attorney to follow up. That attorney should demand the video and simply take the time to look at them. It just has to be done.
