Even though we were paying every month on time for the last four years, they refused to give us one more month with the unit because we refused to sign the contract. Additionally, after returning the unit, my credit card was charged two months in a row, and I had to call the company to get a refund on my credit card. I would recommend the business because the delivery and pickup of the unit was simple. But everything else involved with renting this unit, I don't recommend.

It was a miracle the damage wasn't worse. I am still uncovering damage to other items. I will be the first to admit that the condo was not clean and was frankly, a mess. However, that doesn't excuse this shoddiness. Additionally, I gave Mr. Ebanks several hundred dollars to tip the crew, and he was admonishing me not to say anything to the crew. I wonder now if the crew got anything, or if they did, how much. How could I have been such a sucker? The worst part was that the foreman of the crew, Matthew Ebanks, volunteered himself to complete the move. What was I thinking??? What proceeded was the most incredible ripoff ever, with countless delays beyond the agreed upon move date, that took some major PayPal battles to recover thousands of dollars. I fired Mr. Ebanks and finally ended up hiring a couple of guys. The three of us completed the rest of the job. I know Mr. Ebanks was working me by "volunteering" to work off the books. I know this part of the job was not an All My Sons official job. What this does show me is the low caliber of the integrity of their local management. I got shortchanged by Mr. Ebanks on the All My Sons move. He was in charge. He was late. He left early. I have complained, to no avail. Don't hire this company.

On January 26, 2026, my storage unit was sold even though I made repeated attempts to communicate and make payment. I called multiple times that morning and left messages trying to find out the exact amount required to stop the sale. No one returned my calls. When I finally reached an employee named Chrissy, I was told my total balance was $1,000.48 and that they would accept a partial payment of $555.00 to stop the sale. I had the $555.00 available and agreed immediately. While attempting to process the payment, my bank showed a system error, which was later confirmed by my bank as an issue on their end -- not a lack of funds. We attempted the payment multiple times. I also tried using another bank card and successfully sent $1.00 to confirm that card worked, with the intention of immediately submitting the full $555.00 payment on that card. Despite these efforts, my belongings were still sold. On January 27th, I called again and begged them not to release my belongings to the buyer. My bank confirmed that the funds would be fully available on January 28th, less than 24 hours later. I explained this clearly and pleaded with them to wait. My unit contained irreplaceable personal items belonging to my deceased parents, which are the only things I have left of them. I would not refuse to pay knowing that. I was later told Public Storage gave me "two extra days," which is not true. My account had already been closed on the 27th, and my belongings had already been released to the buyer. The timeline does not support their statement. I did communicate. I did attempt to pay. I did everything I could under the circumstances. The lack of compassion, accountability, and honesty shown in this situation has been devastating. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

There's never any trolleys available for use. The elevator is always out of commission. Yet your monthly bills are constantly rising. I night shift. If I had the strength to pack everything up and move to a different storage space I would but it's impossible for me to do being that this location is close to my home.
