I have had a storage unit at the Nottingham location for over 5 years as my home doesn't have a basement. For starters this location is always dirty. I visit my unit at least once a month and whate trash is lingering on the floor is always there when I return. Yet my bill has gone from $150 to $400. Everything is always broken. the exit doors, sliding side door, entrance doors, as well as the key pad that we use to enter our codes. I contact customer service regarding my bill constantly increasing and customer service is very poor and rude. Sometimes you will get an agent who is human but that's a slim to none chance. There's never any trolleys available for use. The elevator is always out of commission. Yet your monthly bills are constantly rising. I night shift. If I had the strength to pack everything up and move to a different storage space I would but it's impossible for me to do being that this location is close to my home. I would not recommend that anyone rent a storage unit at this location at all. I have videos as well as pictures of everything that is in this complain. Once I figure out how to add them to my review I will. Very disappointed!!! read more

The location is horrible. I realized I had been charged for insurance which I declined originally due to having my own. I called in today and was told that it is mandatory to get it for the first 30 days. I explained that I didn't want it and asked for them to take it off. I was told that I had to do it myself on line. I tried to take it off but there isn't an option to do so. They also couldn't explain why I was charged a different price for the past two months. read more

Wow ! Things have changed for the better . It is secured. There is someone who is in the front office who is professional in my opinion too good to be true . Every time I come to this new lady with a concern she tries her best to resolve the issue . She lets me use the restrooms . She smiles is courteous and this place does not have trash and needles everywhere anymore . I've had a unit since Covid started and out of all the property managers, Chadlynn has been a delight. She answered all questions I had and made sure I had what I needed to rent. I went to pay in person just to see the property after a while, it was tidy and when I needed to use the bathroom with a young child , the bathroom was clean as well. This is great location, definitely need some CARTS and more security but the service is top tier. I'd recommend the property strictly for the manager there. read more

The front office is never open, they never answer or return phone calls. the roof leaks in multiple places, the facility is never clean and always has a bad smell, there are never any carts for moving items, and they are extremely overpriced for what little security they have. read more

I chose Public Storage on Russell Street because it is close to my apartment and future house. Cassandra helped me and she was very attentive and professional. She is courteous and has great customer service skills. I am very impressed with her professionalism. She showed me my storage unit and gave me very explicit details of the rules, time I can access the storage unit, and how to prop up my door since the door does not stay open. Public Storage is very clean and the temperature is not too cold and not too hot. I like the after hours access where you need to punch in a code to get in and out. Its added security for me. There was a special online that I totally took advantage of. My friend has three storage units in this facility so I know the reputation Public Storage has and did not think to bring my stuff anywhere else. I also like that they provide hand flatbeds. it get crowded on the weekends so I would suggest getting more flatbeds. I rated Public Storage with 4 stars since my movers had to wait until there was a flatbed cart available. read more

You would think if you were going to build a storage facility you would make elevators to accommodate large furniture. Also you would think the facility would have a/c considering people are are hot and sweaty trying to move. Also for a facility that's sole purpose is to move a bunch of stuff up and down elevators to only have 2 carts is ridiculous. My particular facility REAKS OF WEED every single time we go there - so when I move my stuff out and it reaks if weed we are gonna have a problem. I'm so sick and tired paying good money for stuff and not getting what you pay for. My recommendation DONT USE PUBLIC STORAGE. read more

Beware Public Storage. I reserved a unit 6 months ago and moved into it. At 5 months they sent a price increase notice raising the price nearly 40%. They seem to use a bate and switch with the price. I never expected to see an increase of this magnitude. Now we will have to find another unit and move again. Their customer service, once you figure out how to get a hold of them are extremely rude and unhelpful, offering no reasoning for the increase. Overall, bad company to work with. Also, the unit was dirty and not completely functional when we got it and they have made no attempt to fix the problems so we have patched a large hole in the wall, adjusted the doorway to allow the slide locks to function and replaced the ropes to lift the doors. Still only one of 2 lights work and the ceiling has patches of insulation falling down. read more

If I could give a ZERO rating that is what I would give. I submitted my last review on 5/22/23 and its been about 2 weeks and all I've gotten is a run around. Just to recap. I've rented with Public Storage at Cherry Lane, Laurel Md for 18 yrs since 2005, never missed a payment. I rent a 10 X 20 storage unit which, if I rented today the rate would be between $198 and $238 a month according to the pricing research I did on-line. In Sept 2022, I received an email stating my rental rate increased from $407.00 a month to $510.00 a month starting in Nov 2022. In March 2023 I received another email saying my rental rate would increase to $660.00 a month starting in May 2023. On or about the 5th of April, 2023 I called my rental office and spoke with the property manager about the rapid rate increases. She gave me the phone number to a District Manager Rheyna Waters. I called Ms Waters and left a phone number where i could be reached at. I don't know what happened when she listened to the voice mail because, instead of calling the number I could be reached at she called my house. I was informed she called and I called back leaving another voicemail. She again called the house, the person who answered asked didn't I leave a number I could be reached at? She said yes and she would call that number. Instead she called my cell phone which wasn't in my possession at the time. Once i arrived to my cell phone I noticed two missed calls and a voicemail. The voice mail stated she was sorry about the mix up on the calls, but she had submitted my account for a rate review. She said on the voice mail she believed it would get approved and I would receive an email stating it. On April 7th I received the email, it stated I was being awarded an $150.00 a month reduction from the $510.00 month, and my rate for the next six months May 2023 thru Oct 2023 would be $360.00 a month. I made the payment of $360.00 when it was due in May 2023. A few days later I received an email stating, I only made a partial payment. I called the Cherry Lane office and was told that my email for rate reduction was a corporate mistake. I informed them I didn't receive any thing official from corporate stating they had made an error. I asked who could I speak with at corporate. He replied no one that it was a mistake and i basically had to eat it. Now its been two months and I've still yet to receive a corporate email or speak with someone from corporate saying they made an error. Two days after my first yelp review on 5/24/23 I received a call from Kristina Jenkins. I explained to her what was going on and she acknowledge, and said she was aware, my case was under review and a decision would be made and someone would contact me soon. That contact has yet to happen to this date. I went to my unit to start moving my property, and i discovered my pass code to the gate didn't work. Once I got someone to let me in there was another lock on my unit. I felt violated because in good faith I had paid my monthly fee. It seemed that I was being penalized for a mistake that I was being told corporate made. I called her back and stated June was coming soon and I needed to know what my payment should be and I would start to vacate the property. She said again to wait for the contact so I wouldn't have to pay late fees. After not hearing from her on the 3rd of June I went on-line to make a payment like normal. However the portal wouldn't let me make June's payment of $360.00 it wanted $300.00 plus $132.00 in late fees for May. I went to Cherry Lane the following day and tried to pay by check for June's payment. I was told my check wasn't being accepted. I was allowed in my unit after the property manager removed the extra lock. Today 5 June I called Jeff Clark at corporate and left a voicemail. His voicemail said he checks it twice a day. I then called Tracey Belton who Jeff's voicemail said call if I need to talk to someone asap. I left her a voice mail. Unfortunately neither one of them returned my call. I then called Kristina Jenkins at the last number she called me from and left a voicemail. i received a call from someone who said she didn't reside at that office and had called me from there during her visit. I wasn't made aware of that the day she called me. The person I spoke to told me they would call her and forward my voicemail. She didn't return my call today either. I think its time for me to get a Lawyer involved. I just wanted to remove my property out by the end of May, ending this nightmare after they blatantly failed to honor the rate reduction. I don't know what the end game is but I'm sure they will try to force me to pay a late fee and a full fee at the $660.00 rate for June. I recommend that future customer's avoid Public Storage at all cost. They aren't customer friendly and they seem to have an hidden agenda to over charge customers for their rental units. I've contacted the Better Business Bureau on this matter also. read more

I been with this storage company since January and these pass 4 months my unit is a 5/10" small unit well let me just say when I get my things out I'll never return my unit went from $55 or $65 to $135 a month if am not mistaken well i know I didn't bring rats i went there to get my DJ system I paid over $2000 for I go they one day a month ago to get my system to find rat pop everywhere in the front of my unit soon u pull the gate up i took pictures and all so I proceed to get my system out to find my cords have been bitten up i call to report it to the manager because it was closing time at the time so she tells me it's nothing she can do I have to file a claim with the insurance company that I pays for every month $15 so make a long story short I just paid $295 to receive a call hours later saying that I have to buy another lock because they cut my lock and put their lock on it because they was ready to auction myself off when i talked to a young lady a week before letting her know I was going to make the payment and she said ok thats sound perfect and everything was good unbelievable it's dirty nasty and more omg just nasty and dirty had the nerve to ask me did I have food in my unit why would I have food in a place that of any kind so in a week I'll be moving my stuff out and I can just imagine how my other things look I have a nice leather living room set in there, and I pray these rats did not eat through my stuff it's crazy I see everyone reviews and these people have the nerve to act and ask me if I had food in my unit when these people already knows and not new to these complaints but will be on the phone like they have no idea what's going and act like they care but don't but I'll be back to keep everyone updated on this because this is unacceptable and ridiculous and something needs to be done about this wow just wow is all I can say at this point read more

This place is absolutely disgusting! I have a long term unit here and every time I go here I notice garbage everywhere. Today I walked into someone's shitty underwear sitting on a flat push cart right in the front lobby area! I was so appalled by what I saw, I couldn't even believe it! I then proceed to my unit when I noticed a foul smell in the air. It smells like something has died in one of the units! I open my unit to find mouse dropping's everywhere!!!! On top of my stuff and all over the floor!!!! And not to mention the roaches that fled everywhere when I opened my unit! I'm so disappointed that a storage facility could allow such filth! This isn't a sudden thing as this facility has been this way since we've started renting hear. Today I went to tell somebody in the office about my discoveries, the young lady was very nice and apologetic. She mentioned that after viewing our unit that the reason we have mice and roaches is because we don't have traps in our unit. What!!! How did someone miss this? Clearly someone wasn't doing their job right when our unit was rented to us. I'm also concerned about the smell of death in the air and the young lady stated that they are aware of it and tried to contact the owner of the unit three times, but has never had a response. I stated that perhaps you should have a look into the unit to make sure all is ok and figure out what this smell is. She stated that they are not allowed by law to go into someone's unit. I couldn't believe what I just heard! So I asked her, people could actually store dead bodies in here and there's nothing you can do about the smell? I'm just flabbergasted! Smh! Here is an update regarding an encounter with the Public Storage facility at 1415 Russell Street. I either misunderstood or was misinformed by a staffer regarding leaving parked vehicles on the lost after closing. My rental vehicle was towed as I drove a U-haul to complete a move. The staffer took note and instructed me to call the tow company posted sign on the facility's line access gate. It cost me $315 ( $300 for the tow and $15 per day storage fee not to exceed $500). That Saturady I left a message on District Manager, Brad Neski's phone. I explained the circumstances and without going into detail about the status of my account with Public Storage; asked him to recompense a fraction of the cost based on previous clients' shared experiences similar to mine. Mr. Neski is a relatively new manager covering a wide region of the DMV. After due diligence reaching out the Auto Barn tow company, who by the way, never returned his call (Why would they? Their people got paid!). Within 48 hours Mr. Neski kept me abreast of the developments and made a decision to "make it right" and made a fair offer, which made me grateful. If you live downtown Baltimore and you're in a transitional period and you need a clean, well-maintained, climate control facility super close to 95 North and South on ramps. Not a bad spot for short term storage. Long term storage is strongly discouraged through abusive pricing. Rented unit in 2013 for $92/month. Now in 2016 they are charging me $143/month, a 55% increase from the original rent. In just 3 years they have raised the rent 4 times. The advertised rent for my size space on the internet is $104/month today. Beware of their price gouging if you intend to use this storage for greater than one year! Matthew R. called me after posting a review on Google and said he would lower the bill to the current advertised rate. That did not happen and I have since received 2 successive bills for the same $143/month. Numerous return calls to him have remained unanswered. I have a friend that also has experienced similar abusive price gouging from the same facility on a larger unit. He will post a review with his details soon. I needed a unit for 1 month and 2 days in which I was told they would prorate the two days of the next month for me. This is why I decided to rent with Public Storage. We all kind of expect the same things out of a self-storage facility: A space of your own with a door, a place for a lock, and reasonable safeguards against intrusion into the area. By those standards, this facility is fine, because it meets those standards. But little more. Where to start: Well the prices are outrageous. No, not at first; they capture you with very low costs, and then ramp them up after a few month. In my case, I accidentally transposed two numbers during my second price hike, writing down $136 instead of $138. Figuring that my automatic payment was safe, I thought little of it until the next month, when I received a notice that my unit was in "auction" status. You see, instead of calling me because my rent was $2 short (less than 1%), the management decided to wait three weeks, so that I was in default (meaning a hefty penalty), then another fee to get myself out of "lock" status, and a third one to get it out of "auction" status. Oh yeah, and all of this needed to paid in cash. My $2 mistake cost me, I believe, $168. This is all in addition to: Very short gate hours, which match the short office hours -- don't even think of coming by after work, because the place is locked up; a rampant mouse AND rat problem -- don't store anything that a mouse/rat can chew up into a nest, because they will; no carts -- well, that's not quite true, if you want one, you have to go the office and leave a credit card and driver's license, because (apparently) theft of cheap 4-wheel push carts in bright orange is rampant in South Baltimore; gate keypads that are, inexplicably, placed where there is no chance of entering the codes from inside your vehicle -- actually there is a gate with a more user-friendly keypad on the north end of the lot. But it's chained shut; elevators that, when they work, are on the fastest door-close timing possible (the idea that people might be pushing one of those oh-so-valuable carts or carrying an armload of goods and might need more than one-half second to clear the closing door has apparently never occurred to management); "Climate controlled" units that can be over 100 degrees in the summer and below freezing in the winter. And this isn't a bash against Public Storage as a company. I moved all my stuff from a $136 (oops, $138) a month 5x10 unit on the third floor, to a $99/mo 10x10 drive-up unit in Laurel and could not be happier with the new place. I believe each facility is individually owned and operated, so YMMV. Why 2-stars instead of 1? Because the staff is very friendly -- and they don't set the policy; the owner(s) do. read more

Adrian and King are always friendly and helpful as I'm in and out. I'm happy to say that I've formed a relationship with them and feel safe doing work and storing materials at this location. Went today to secure my storage unit. The process was super fast and easy. Sean, the manager, was very pleasant and helpful. I'll be returning within the next several days to actually move stuff so I'll be sure to update. Their mattress covers are about $1.50 cheaper than Lowes which surprised me. Downsides so far: When I spoke with a rep yesterday they told me to bring a lock but they put one on the unit when I got there; it cost $17.99 which I didn't realize until they gave me a list of charges before paying. They'd already told me about the one-time $22 administration fee but not the lock cost. I wouldn't have used their lock if I knew it cost extra, especially $17.99. They should be up front about that. And if using their lock is a requirement they should be up front about that, as well as the additional cost. Also, Yelp, your site advertises a 50% off every month Memorial Day sale for this location; I just called to ask about it and Sean said that this district was "overlooked" in the promotion, which is a bummer because I can't take advantage of the offer.
