My first experience with Express tailoring was the repair of a very fancy top for a dressy event. I needed the garment for the next day, and it was ready ahead of time. The work was neat and professional. My second experience with this hope involved the alteration of a linen shirt that was too large, with sleeves that were way too long. The work was done promptly and professionally. No one would ever have known that a needle touched the shirt, and the results were excellent. I've been coming to Ted since 2009 and can't express enough how satisfied and delighted I have been with his service. I have had him tailor suits, business and casual button ups, made my fat ties skinny, made my jeans skinny, slacks, sweaters, gym clothes and jackets. All of them have come out great. When Ted raised his prices (inflation) I went around to all the tailors in Redlands to see what they wanted for the same hem and all were the same price as Ted. The one thing that Ted does differently is, he greets me, knows my name and gets stuff done in 2-3 business days at no extra charge. I'm an impatient person, so waiting a week to get something tailored is a little frustrating. Also, I know Ted's work and know that he is going to get it right the first time. I saw some people commented that Ted is rude. I have NEVER had that experience. He jokes with me every time I come in. Maybe because he has an accent, people find his personality brash, but I think he is a wonderful, friendly caring person. He is just more serious than most laid back So Cal people. Very professional and neat work done by the tailor. It was easy too. He had me stand up, used needles to mark the alterations on the shirts i was tailoring, and that was it. I paid $34 for 3 things per shirt: shortening the arms, shortening the length, and slimming the shirt down. For the individual services, the prices are decent. If I remember correctly, it was $8 for the arms, $8 for the length, and $16 for the slimming. pretty average prices and good work. I am actually currently wearing one of the shirts I had tailored here at the moment. Also, as far as the length shortening went, I asked for him to maintain the curves at the bottom, and he did it well. I will probably come here again in the future. but not if I eventually learn to tailor shirts myself, which is as goal of mine! otherwise, you wouldn't be wrong to try out this place! I asked him about his years of experience and he said around 30 or 40 years. It shows. TIP: debit and credit cards are an extra 1.75 fee, if I am not mistaken. However, there are limits to the cards that he accepts in the sense that credit cards with rewards may get declined. I have Chase Freedom and it wouldn't process the transaction on the machine. My debit card worked fine. He also allowed me to pay the full price either up front or after the work was complete. Nice to know that he's flexible. read more

I was surprised when reading the other reviews to see that people have felt Ted was rude to them. Obviously people have good and bad days and people have varying interactions with others, so there's no point in arguing about anything. I'll say from my experience that Ted has been very kind, conversational, and professional to me. Maybe it's just his European-ness that throws some people off ... In any case, I go here primarily for dry cleaning but almost always have some small repair or alteration that needs to be done as well. Ted has never made a mistake on any piece of clothing and I have always been very satisfied with the results. He is very fair and will even tell you when a project might not be worth undertaking such as a rip in my dress pants that would have been unsightly even with the best repair job. I thought this was very professional as it was clear to me he wasn't just trying to take my money. As far as dry cleaning goes, the price is about average for others in the area. But while the other dry cleaners in the area have made mistakes with ironing, not removing stains, creating their own stains, losing buttons, et cetera ... I have never had an issue with any piece of clothing that I've handed to Ted. There's nobody else I would trust my dress clothes with, for cleaning, repairs, or alterations. He gets five stars because this is the best tailoring and dry cleaning establishment I have ever used. P.S. Ted does take debit and credit cards, but charges a small fee for them. Prices are very reasonable, but the owner kind of turned me off on my first visit. He kept going back and forth on whether to help me or the lady who was there before me. Also, when I was a bit strapped for time, he did try to accommodate a bit, but overall basically asked me if I didn't realize that this week was prom. I needed 3 pairs of pants hemmed for my new job. I walked in with them 90 minutes before they closed, and they were happy to accommodate me. Pricing was extremely reasonable, especially for a rush job, and the whole time the service received was friendly, positive, and stellar. They even pressed them as a courtesy. I didn't even think to try on the pants and make sure they were done correctly until I got home. When I did, all 3 pairs were hemmed so perfectly that I couldn't even believe it. Dropped in today to have a suit altered for my wedding and the owner greeted me right away and was very courteous. He showed me to the dressing room and since I've never had a suit altered he was very polite guiding me through the process. After some pinning and a few questions I felt very confident I was at the best tailor around my area. I've now had four formal dresses altered there (prom, and three bridesmaid dresses) and I know my whole family takes anything there they need altered as well. Measurement is fast, pricing is reasonable, return to pick-up date is good (3 days, I believe tailor can do it faster/earlier than I requested). Fit afterwards was good BUT symmetry of sewing was not right, causing some uneven natural folding/slack of pants, and "corner/edges" are not simmilar because the inner extra fabric was sown facing different directions. Hemming on one leg was done longer on one side, and was curved. Minimal problems unseen unless closer inspection is done, but those are quite more important to me than pricing. read more

This guy does quality work. His people skills leave a little to be desired but the price is reasonable. I dropped off 3 coats that needed to be taken in on the sides and he did them all for $36 and it took about a week. I read on a previous review that he prefers cash but I forgot that when I went to pay. But he reminded me. He says that credit card companies actually charge him a lot of money. For a small independant businessman, it's probably reasonable to ask that people bring cash (or debit cards if not cash). I dropped off a brand new dress to have tailored and I made sure that it was in pristine condition when I dropped it off. When I picked it up there were two small dark brown dot stains near the shoulder of the dress that I noticed immediately and told the lady it wasn't there when I dropped it off. She said that it was my makeup which could not have been any further from the truth seeing that I am a pale Asian and the stain was dark brown and don't own any makeup that would resemble that. Plus my dress zips up in the back so it doesn't even go over my head when I put it on so there is no way that it could have been my make up. She then said it was probably someone else's make up that wore the dress before me which is absurd because I would have noticed the stain immediately because I am very OCD. So I paid $28 for the alterations plus another $2 fee for using a credit card which they did not mention to me when I dropped the dress off. I picked up the dress up a few days later after they said they would dry clean it for me for free and when I picked it up the guy said again that it was my make up. I didn't argue because it was pointless. I looked at the dress again and there were other small dark brown stains lower in the dress which meant that they didn't really dry cleaned it but just spot cleaned the first stain. He then said that I didn't pay because the lady didn't stamp a paid sign on it but I'm 10000% sure I did. Told him to call the lady because she would remember me from making a big stink about the $2 extra charge. Worst experience. Suffice to say I won't be bringing my business here. read more

Would not come here again. Brought in a dress to get it tailored, the dress was only $20, the fee for tailoring was $56?! I didn't even know the price until he finished all the pinning and wrote the price on a card for me. All I asked for was to get the dress shortened and slimmer on the sides. They tailored my wedding dress for me back in October. They took it in at the sides ( 4+ inches, if I remember correctly), as well as hemming the skirt, shortening the straps, and adding in cups at the bodice. When I picked my dress up from the boutique, It was at least 2 sizes too large, as I had sized up planning to get it taken in at the waist and then ended up losing 25 lbs on top of that. I took a dress to a tailor in Highland to get shortened, and she did a really poor job on the stitching. Then, I took the dress here to get the stitching removed and to have the owner redo it. I picked it up this morning and I'm SO happy with how it came out! There are some visible holes that were left from the other stitching, which I expected, but it's barely noticeable. I WAS a happy returning customer for a lot of my suits until I brought my girlfriend to get some of her alterations done. she wanted something specifically done a bridesmaid dress but the owner/tailor seemed to have the I-know-it-all attitude and was resistant about her request. My gf gave in and went with his "I've been doing this for many years" suggestion. We return and she tries on the altered dress and was unsatisfied what he wanted so she had him fix it to her original specifications. We then return to get it altered the way she wanted but the dress wasn't even touched! We wasted our time coming back. I gave him a chance that we would let him fix it but if he could give us a discount for the inconvenience and being a long loyal customer. He absolutely blew up with an attitude and refused! He said he's the best tailor and can try other tailors and that he has the "best price"! My girlfriend was tired of dealing with his bad attitude and customer service we went elsewhere. I've been getting my pants, slacks, and jeans tapered and cut from Ted for the past 5 years and he hasn't let me down once. Time constraints are not an issue for him the, turnaround time is always fast (within a week depending on item amount), pricing is always reasonable. I have never had to make a second trip to him, always gets it done right the first time around. Owner has always been a pleasure to work with. He expresses his opinion because he is a professional tailor that has been doing this for years, He will always give you his suggestion, if you choose to do otherwise that is to your own risk. He always tells me "I can always take away fabric, but I cannot add it back on." Which I respect and always take into consideration when making my alteration decision. Also if you have gotten something tailored before and want those exact measurements on another item, bring it in and he will happily match the measurements to the item your wanting to tailor. This place is awesome! I needed alterations for my wedding dress for my wedding in September, and the fitting was quick and easy. My dress was pretty detailed and required several layers removed for the alterations, but the shop returned my dress in half the time originally agreed upon and it fit PERFECTLY.
