My CD changer in my 2008 Mazda 6 w/ Bose died and after 2 months of Austin radio I decided I needed…read moreto do something about it. When the changer first died I emailed Custom Sounds and got an estimate on how much it would cost. I knew it would be pricey due to the existing Bose system (Bose doesn't play well with after-market parts). Turns out it was a little more than I thought as the Mazda 6 requires the face of the center console to be replaced to allow for a single or double DIN stereo. When I finally decided to go ahead with this I visited Custom Sounds in person. The employee I had emailed with no longer worked there and hadn't documented our conversation. Dustin gave me a new quote. It was about $50 more than the original which didn't bother me. It's quite possible the original was missing some things and I had asked for an estimate not a binding quote. Dustin was able to work with my schedule and get me in a couple days later on a Saturday (the only day I could do it). I dropped the car off and when I returned home I got a call from Dustin saying they started the work and noticed I had a Bose system and it would be about $70 more due to another part and some more labor. That was pretty frustrating but I told him to go ahead. Austin radio is that bad. A couple hours later they called to say my car was ready. Dustin took me out to my car and walked me through how to use the new receiver and pair it with my phone. The installation looks great and everything (including the existing steering wheel controls) works perfectly. They even mounted the mic for bluetooth phone connections in a way that you can't see the wire going to the receiver. Even better, the extra part and labor weren't needed as the receiver I chose was able to pump out sound at a level that worked fine with the existing Bose amp and speakers. Saved me $70. My only regret is the installation was much better than I expected. If I had know it was going to look this good I would've spent an extra $100 for a double DIN touch screen receiver. With that you'd never know my car had an after-market unit in it.

Ryan immediately came to assist and see what was up with my system. I'm a very good judge of character & not once did they give off and suspicious vibes! John didn't even charge for what Ryan fixed! They are more than worth it, I can guarantee it! I'll definitely be back to upgrade my system!!! Thanks guys!!

When I picked the vehicle up and drove it home I went to close the door and after touching the outside of the door felt a gritty sandpaper texture over the paint. I started feeling around the vehicle and was immediately nauseated. They oversprayed bedliner on the entire vehicle. Driver front and rear door, roof, hood, fenders, headlights, fenders... everything. I immediately contacted them and left a message explaining the damages. The next day I contacted other bedliner installers, detailers, and a paint shop. All of them informed me that I was looking at a 10-12hr repair involving clay barring, scraping, buffing and polishing. They advised me not to use harsh solvents and chemicals. Other people online that had experienced issues with linex tried denatured alcohol, this did not work. I contracted the corporate linex office in NC to get help. I talked to them for a few days forwarding all photos and videos and a summary of the damage all while waiting to hear from the installer. When I finally got a call back from linex RR after 4 attempts to reach them I told them I was in touch with corporate and Marcus of RR said "well if you did that there's nothing we can do for you" and hung up. In the meantime, to save my brand new vehicle's paint, I paid $850 for a detailed to come out and work on the vehicle ALL DAY with two people and they were able to fix the exterior *mostly*. They were unable to fix the interior (window was left open during install) and now I must live with a ruined steering wheel, center console, and door card covered in gritty adhesive. Both the installer and corporate office refuse to accept damages for the issue. Learn from me and go to rhino or another retailer. They ruined my vehicle and lost a customer for life.

All communication had been via email and I got a confirmation text for my appointment. When the appointment comes around. My wife and I each drove 30 minutes/25 miles separately out of our way during the work day to drop my truck off. The people at the shop then tell me they had cancelled my appointment since they were backed up and stated they tried telling me for many days. They offered a discount for our time wasted and wanted me to rebook for another day. Once we each drove the 30 minutes/25 miles back to work, I checked my email, texts, and voicemails and did not receive any notice that my appointment was cancelled nor moved. I did receive one single missed call 3 days before my appointment but it was from a number that was not listed on the shops website so I did not connect the dots. They DID NOT leave a voicemail nor email nor text stating my appointment was cancelled. I then emailed the shop to discuss the discount they offered me while I was in the shop for my original appointment. Lucy, the office manager, (who was not there when I drove to the shop originally) acted like there was no discount for the wasted time. She acted like it was my fault that she did not leave a single message that my appointment was cancelled and did not even go as far as apologize for wasting my wife and my time during the middle of the work day. I decided to cancel my second appointment. If I couldn't trust them to hold an appointment or honor their own word about a discount, how could I trust them to do expensive work on my truck that could cause permanent damage. I would recommend checking out the Austin location of LineX or checking out some of the Rhino or other bed-liner applications in the area. Save yourself the headache.

I walked in and asked "is Mike here today"? He responded "he is here today...just not right now". He had a smug attitude and at first I just thought he just wasn't good at being funny. Then when I took him out to show him what I needed and an issue I was having, he said I was doing something wrong. Again maybe I was but his smug attitude showed through again. After waiting 1 1/2 hours for an install of my toolbox that I was told would take 20 to 30 minutes I approached James and asked if everything was going okay with the install. The reason I asked is because the first tool box ordered didn't fit. He again had an attitude when telling me they were working on it. When told him that I only asked because of how long it was taking his reply was simply "ok" and he walked off to help someone else. Not a "I'm sorry" or we are doing this or that, just a dismissive "ok". If you can only treat your customers good and not all customers of your business then James should find another job. On the bright side, Mike is great, their products are great and their prices are great. Just make sure to ask for Mike when you go see them. If I had to deal with James anytime I came in I would choose another business. Update: I watched him deal with an elderly lady (after 2 hours...still there). He was dismissive to her as well. She became frustrated with how he was treating her as well. You could tell it in her voice. He may be a great installer but he really has no business in customer service. I am an executive in a retail company for 20 years now and if I saw any of my employees treat people this was I would make a change.
