2008 Prius catalytic converter stolen right outside of my wife's workplace at 2:30 pm. I called muffin muffler to ask about replacement. He said he didn't carry stock Toyota converter but a quality aftermarket converter and quoted a great price over the phone. Car was ready the same day just had to wait for insurance to pay for it. So this week I had my catalytic converter stolen from my 07 Prius. I was pretty devastated because everywhere online said it was going to cost close to $3,000 which is the exact amount the Toyota dealership quoted me for. I called Muffin Muffler and they were able to replace the converter and add a protection case in a few hours all for less than half the cost of what the dealership would have charged me. Please view pictures - they speak for themselves. The work done to my car was deplorable. I went in to ask them to do a resonator-delete and install my new Magnaflow X-pipe in it's place. Because the resonator was longer than X-pipe, they had to weld in 2 extension pipes. Everything in my exhaust was 2 1/4", including x-pipe. As you can see, they did a horrible, amateur job on this -- one pipe is too long, and it looks like they used a scrap pipe because on one side you can clearly see they did not butt them together, instead just shoved one tapered pipe into my stock pipe. Not only does is look terrible, but it makes the passage closer to 1 7/8" at that unuin, which affects performance. AND - if you look at the pipe they use - it is scored majorly with lines/grooves from scraping through something (like a vice). Oh but there's more - you see that DENT above that cross bar?? Yeah they did that too. Sorry, but a rock doesnt fly up in the middle of the car and go through the crossbar to do that - Muffin Muffler employees caused that. This just a hideos and awful job, not to mention I almost saw my car sail off of their antiquated "sliding" rack when it got hung up and my car was hanging half way off with the other guys yelling at the driver to STAY ON THE BRAKE while they pried up on whatever was jammed. Anyway, I sent an email with pics and asked for my money back on this botched job, because I had to take it somewhere else to get *fixed*. The response I got back was just short of being nasty. It was insulting, rude, and mocking. I am attaching a screenshot of that as well. I'd recommend doing business anywhere but here. They might have once been a local favorite, but it's bad business these days. read more
