I am so pleased to have found Muffin Muffler. I took my Honda Accord in this morning for a new catalytic converter. Tom was very kind and personable and showed me to the cushy lounge while I waited. An overstuffed couch, flat panel TV, and Keurig coffee made the short wait seem even shorter. Meanwhile, Tom worked his magic and finished the installation in what seemed like no time at all. I was pleasantly surprised by the cost, which was significantly lower than I expected. It was an all-around positive experience. It is as simple as this: Muffin Mufflers covers all of your exhaust issues, needs, or wants for your vehicle. They are friendly, professional, honest, masters of their craft, and will treat you absolutely right!!! I originally called the shop to see if they would be able to install a Borla ATAK cat-back exhaust system for my 2014 Dodge Challenger RT. This package is quite pricey, so Troy asked me if I had already purchased it, which I replied, I had not. He then was completely honest with me regarding Borla products and informed me to also check in to Flowmaster and Magnaflow. Troy was completely honest, gave me all of the information needed, and then told me to check out the sound and prices, and then call him back. He did not give me the chance to call him back, as within 10 minutes, Troy CALLED ME BACK, had found a comparable Flowmaster series, and informed me that he could get it for less than manufacturer price. With installation included, I paid less for the full kit and work then I would have for the entire Borla Kit. So I was already sold on Muffin Mufflers. Then I got the chance to have my exhaust installed there yesterday, and the experience blew me away. As I parked, Tom walked out and greeted me. This gentleman ended up installing my exhaust. So my car is my baby, and I have invested a lot of time and money in her. Let me just say this, I truly believe that Tom was more meticulous with my installation then i would have been with my own car, and that speaks volumes. Of course the "bolt on" kit did not bolt on correctly, so Tom made about 10 adjustments from the piping to tips, welded and bracketed everything, to where the work was beyond my standard. Of course, then in the back of my head I'm like "they quoted a certain install fee but he has done all this custom work". But then I was like, you know what, the extra cash is well worth it. BUT GUESS WHAT PEOPLE... just like everybody else has stated, I paid exactly what they quoted me. I had a hard time picking my jaw off of the floor, not because of the price, but because of the overall experience. And a lot of people don't realize this either.....So while Troy and Tom are being polite to you on the phone, they have just taken off gloves, the welding mask, set down the welding torch, to speak to you. I have never seen such a balance of customer service and shop proficiency. TROY: Thank you for all of your expertise and getting me the best deal on my exhaust system. TOM: Thank you for your attention to detail, constant communication, and craftsmanship. As I told my pops on the phone yesterday "I know y'all live 2 hours away but if you have any exhaust issues or wants, you need to come see these guys". Buddy recommneded Muffin Muffler in Austin so I emailed their website for a quote, no response so I swing by about a week ago and drove up and took out resonators. Waited outside in parking lot and noticed owner (by his pics on his website) and said hi and how are you and all he said "busy". I saw him walk back in so I went in and had to actually go to him to ask him about a quote. He said "where do you want them?, underneath? out back". I said "no, where they belong in the rear behind rear axle". I showed him the box of resonators and he said, "what is that?" I said "Resonators." He says, "What is that?" I then said "Do you want to see them?", he said "no". I gave him the benefit of the doubt and asked if you want me to come back (which in my mind I was not) and he said next Monday. I have to say: I'm impressed. I barely had to make a peep about what I surmised was the issue with my car when who appeared to be the lead mechanic looked under the hood, so to speak, confirmed the problem, and explained what he expected to find. And that was it. No fuss, no waiting, just service with a smile. Now, I can't say with sweeping resoluteness that these guys were the highest quality at the lowest price, but there's no question that they run a top notch business. As a business person myself, I was impressed to see an efficient operation, with all the unnecessary frills cut out. The shop floor is wide open and clean, the waiting room has some nice celebrity and local endorsements (though they could use some up-to-date magazines), and there's nothing about the place to say they spend big money on salesman and commissioned repairs. I did some research online regarding parts prices (as I've been burned on that before) and guestimated the time to install, and the bill came within $50 of what I expected to pay. This place came recommended from a valued friend, and backed up by another mechanic, so I recommend them to others. I walked out with warrantied invoices and a free t-shirt! This place is amazing. Honest, incredibly friendly, they explained everything to me clearly, and the price could not be beat. I was referred over here by Don's Automotive due to a bad catalytic converter, and I was sweating it because I was afraid of the cost. When I took it in for an estimate, they cleared the engine code to be certain what the problem was, then suggested I drive it to cycle the engine and see if the code and issue came up again. It did, sure enough - and by the next morning, I had a brand new converter for $410, and the labor was done in two hours. These guys are incredible! About a month back I was in a rear ending accident and they hit my car so hard it made my exhaust thump against my car. I messaged this company from yelp and I was emailed back quickly about how much it would be around and to schedule for a free estimate. They worked around my time so easily, it was very convenient. After I received my free estimate, I made a repair appointment. Tom and Eric were the men working on my car and kept me updated with everything going on and showed me as well. I appreciate that because I like to see what's happening with my car, and they did an excellent job of doing so. I expected it to be a couple of hours but they had it done in one! I took my Honda Accord into Howdy Honda, they diagnosed it as a new catalytic converter for $1,000. I declined the offer, thinking I would take it to Don's Automotive on South First. Don referred me to Muffin Muffler. Troy diagnosed it as an oxygen censor, a $150 part on the catalytic converter. Plus $75 labor. After installation I got my car inspected no problem. I tore a hole in the exhaust on my wife's new Honda Odyssey trying park over a raised sewer lid the other night. My wife fumed about the terrible noise coming out of the exhaust and said get it fixed. I debated going to the dealer, but didn't want to pay retail for a new exhaust system. So i called two shops near my office that we've used in the past and both said go to Muffin Muffler. When i arrived at Muffin they soon had the van up on the lift and pointed on a small hole that had been created my parking lot adventure and said that he could patch it up with a weld in about 15 minutes and that it'd be $25! I am very particular about who works on my cars. I will do most all work myself right down to engine rebuilds and transmission swaps. After fighting with getting new exhaust to fit my 93 Mustang Cobra for many many hrs, we just finally accepted the fact that the kit we bought couldn't be made to fit the car. Reluctantly, I searched the Mustang forums for local reviews and first hand experience. No good experience was to be found. As a last resort, I went with the first Google hit in my search which was Muffin Mufflers. I called them and gave them a basic idea of what I was looking for....custom pipe run from about mid-car to exit under the rear bumper. I talked with Troy who was very nice and told me to just come by when I had a minute and we'd work something out. Awesome since most shops don't want to give you more than a couple of seconds on the phone and have better things to do. When I got there, I spoke with Troy who came out and looked at the car. He said its no big deal and we went inside and worked out a price. I told him that the time it took them to do the job was not nearly as important to me as it being done right. I wanted no rattles, perfectly symmetrical tailpipes exiting the rear of the car and in general, just good attention to detail. I really feel that I didn't even need to tell them this...they would have done it right anyway. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint. They quality of the work they did was better than OEM. It does not rattle and it looks PERFECT. I didn't have to have them go back and fix or address anything...they just did it right the first time on their own. That is very rare these days. On top of everything, the price was incredibly fair and it only took them 1/2 a day! I was extremely happy with the quote and turn around time. I can't say enough good things about these guys. If you need any kind of exhaust work done, skip all the other guys and give Tom/Troy a call at Muffin Mufflers! read more

Great shop! I brought in a car with an exhaust leak last year and they said it was a loose fitting. They tightened up the fitting and solved the problem free of charge! I've had some other work done there, and they usually charge about half of what national chains charge ie Midas. And the quality of work is far better, too. I went to get my annual inspection and was surprised to find out that I needed to get my exhaust fixed. I only had two days left in the frickin' month and of course I had to work and I did not have the time or money to deal with car work. I was not pleased at all (not to mention most car work costs a fortune that I do not have). Thankfully my favorite guys at Qwik Car knew just the place to send me and the next morning I headed to Muffin Mufflers. A couple minutes after I got there and explained how I ended up here they put it up on the lift and showed me what needed to be fixed, told me how much it would be (only $65! imagine my surprise!) and said to come back in an hour. We went over to Lamar and wandered around some shopping centers and when we got back my car was fixed and ready to go. Started it up and it was quiet as a mouse, and I hadn't really realized that it was my exhaust that was so noisy (shows what I know about cars). Went to get my inspection right after and passed with flying colors. Whew! Tom was really nice, they had a nice waiting area, and even better was that it wasn't intimidating. Most car places treat girls (women, whatever) like they're stupid and they weren't like that at all, which was really nice. I have already recommended them to people I know just because they were so easy to deal with. That's rare when you're dealing with car repair shops, chains are just wanting your money and Tom and his crew are just wanting to fix your car and make you happy. If I ever need anything again for my car that they can fix, I am headed right back to Muffin Muffler. read more

I have not written a Yelp review in quite some time, but the excellent service at this shop really deserves some praise. I needed to come here to get a catalytic converter (bank two) issue taken care of, so that I could get my car to pass inspection. Another place quoted me a price that was nearly $300 more than what Muffin Muffler quoted. So, they were winning already. Later that day, the gentleman called me back, and said the part was $50 cheaper than he had originally been quoted, so my bill was going to be even lower. Not too many shops are this honest, really. The work was done quickly. I dropped my car off in the afternoon, and it was done before lunch the following day. Honestly, if you have any type of car exhaust issue, you should come here first. I had them install a Fast Intentions Catback Exhaust system on my 370z. The people were very friendly and completed the installation to my satisfactoin. The quote I received on the phone is what I paid. I'm picky when it comes to my car. I really liked the transparency. If there was something out of the ordinary they would let me know about it and ask my opinion before doing anything. This happened because a couple heat shields needed to be bent and some bracketing removed for the new CBE. I would recommend this place to a friend. read more

My car had been taken to a transmission shop and when I was driving it home from the shop I noticed a lot of noise coming from underneath the vehicle. I was so busy after getting it back I couldn't find time to get it back to the transmission shop and have them look at it to see what is wrong. A few weeks went by and the noise was still there. I decided to take it to Muffin Muffler and have them take a look. The owner/manager was so helpful and told me that someone had really messed up the muffler system and if I had been on a long drive it could've actually had caught on fire. The owner/manager adjusted the muffler and refused to charge me for the repair. I offered several times and he said no. I will go back to him when I get the new muffler system installed. He was so honest and helpful. By the way the transmission shop won't take responsibility for the damage that someone at their shop did to my vehicle. It will cost me quite a bit to get the vehicle fixed since it also punched a hole in my rear bumper. I used to think that the transmission shop that I used was really a good business but now I won't use them anymore. read more

This place is excellent. As the others who wrote before me, I felt I could actually trust them to get me a fair deal and provide quality service. Troy got me exactly what I needed and did not oversell me. I called in and he said to swing on by. He immediately hooked my car uo to the ODB and provided me a read out. It was consistent with my prior suspicions. The part I liked best, is that he did not ask me to drop it off to simply get the ODB reading. Most places do that and it's infuriating. Troy made it easy. He also informed me that I should get a tune up too as to not destroy my new catalytic converter-good advice. He referred me to Yost for the tune up work. Troy shuttled my car over to Yost to make things easy for me. By the way, Yost did quality work too. Finally, my Nissan Pathfinder purrs like a kitten. I'm a happy customer! read more

Hands down the best experience I've ever had with a mechanic. I have used yelp for a while now, but the experience and customer service i received at Muffin Muffler led me to create a yelp account. I would give this place ten stars if I could .. they took the time to show me how easy it was to replace the MAF sensor saving me four hundred dollars off another shops quote. And when it eventually came down to needing my Cat. Converter replaced did the work for very reasonable cost with same day turn around.
