My wife and I have been ordering takeout from Exeter Pizza since 2000, something has changed and not for the good. My wife recently ordered their lobster sandwich meal and I ordered the coconut shrimp with onion rings, my wife loved the sandwich but my coconut shrimp plate was terrible. My coconut shrimp was flattened and mushy so more than likely it was some premade frozen crap like from BJ's, definitely not anything fresh. The upgrade from fries to onion rings was a joke, I got abt 6 rings and they were burnt to a crisp, similar to the ones at the bottom of a fry-basket that's been sitting there all night. The shrimp was also over-fried, I'm surprised the cook even let both items out the door. My wife enjoyed the lobster, she may order it again, as for myself, I'll never order anything from there, I'm done! read more

New owners must have raised the prices. I just paid 14.85 for a small pizza with half pepperoni and half sausage. Seems very expensive for a small one topping pizza. Way to pricy. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. Way too expensive for an average pizza. Take your business elsewhere. read more

This nugget of a place is a town go-to... and I am always warmed by seeing people great each other and waitresses remembering customers, and plain food prepared without pretense! We choose to have breakfast at ETPizza - a better choice for us. The pizza is very good and I am a rather particular re-planted Connecticut woman who grew up where every pizza place was amazing. We found pricing to be rather high now, which was surprising... but again, we were welcomed (we moved here 35 years ago and are hoping we will soon be accepted as Rhode Islanders.) The food here is decent. We got the small pepperoni and pineapple pizza which I prefer to have more of a cooked bottom. We also got the mozzarella sticks which are fine. We also got a buffalo chicken calzone which had barely any stuffing in it and no cheese. The dough was really soft but it was very thick as well. Excellent little place to grab a bite to eat. You can smell the pizza being cooked as you walk through the door and the pizza there is great. All types of pizza from plain cheese, to mushroom to onion to various specialty pizzas such as Hawaiian Pizza and Buffalo Chicken Pizza. If you are in the mood for something other than pizza they do have submarine sandwiches, wraps, pasta dinners and salads as well. There is seating available if you want to eat your meal right at the restaurant instead of doing takeout. The staff is very friendly. When I was there very recently there were two women working and both were very pleasant and helpful. I would most definitely go back to this place. read more

This is a town place where everyone says hello... except for a few suffering from bitterness. I have breakfast probably five days a week here. They know my name and I'm still learning theirs. I've been coming here since the late 80s early 90s. Food was good then and still is today. An attractive young couple took over a little over a year ago, hard-working both of them. I brought home the best stuffed peppers ever the other night. They were on the specials board. You gotta watch the specials, they're good and at a great price. They changed the pizza crust, in the last year or so, for the better. They also got a heated Italian grinder with banana peppers... Outstanding. Breakfast is yummy, reasonably priced, and it's the fastest breakfast. I know of... especially if you're trying to get the wife and 4 kids to church. Just a month or so ago, they introduced pizza delivery starting at 4 o'clock... that's 4 in the afternoon. They can deliver earlier if it's an emergency or a special situation, I had to deliver two pizzas to the girls at the Town hall the other day and it got there hot, just saying. Every once in a while you'll get an awesome basic pizza. What holds this place back from four star is consistency. Sometimes too much cheese ...sometimes not enough sauce and the like.......Sometimes not cooked thoroughly through. You never know. First time trying here and I'm sorry to report a complete FAIL. We ordered subs and maybe thats the problem. Maybe the pizza is better. Roast Beef Sub: old yellow shredded lettuce, (not a trace of green) lousy tomatoes ( yellowish and bad smelling so i took those off) , banana peppers instead of hot peppers that I asked for. I've honestly never gotten such a lousy grinder. My wife said the same of her italian grinder. Stop n Shop would have been better. We threw most of it out. The inside of the place smells old and musty. The oustside is a dump. Clean up the grounds man ! It's at the end of a small strip mall and maybe they don't own the outside but if it were my business, I would be outside picking up the trash every day regardless. There is a lot of trash , cups, cans, bottles, papers, junk everywhere. It just gives customers a bad first impression upon arriving. Maybe everyone is used to seeing it like that but I was a new customer and now I won't be returning because the place looks trashy. This brings into question the cleanliness of the place and people who work there if they just leave it like that. I highly don't recommend. read more

Personally I won't be coming back here again. The food is okay, I think. Mom and I stopped here for lunch last week and decided to stay to eat. We were visiting Dad at the Rehab/Nursing Home out on rt. 2. (BTW the map is wrong right now, the "Mall" that this place is in is off the road across from the Ladd Center's exit on rt. 2.) I gave this place 2 stars mainly because of the experience I had here over all. I ordered an italian grinder (for non-RI residents: a submarine sandwich,) because I figured it would be filling and they're not hard to make. Mom had a bowl of chili. I ordered a spinach pie to go. The food we got on our diner ceramic was fresh and basic. The chili was meaty with ground beef and not at all spicy. The grinder had the cold cuts and vegetables laid out on the roll open and easy to see. The roll, which was a firm and really nice, had been toasted in an oven. Simple food, simply served. Upon entering there are tables and booths within. A counter is in the back where the food is ordered to go. Mom and I sat at a booth closest to the counter so we could look at the menus that are on the table. The menu has breakfast, lunch and dinner items that you'd see in most pizza/diner places in RI. The dining room was clean, basic and decorated with Finger Hut decor. It was homey looking. A matronly woman came to our table and asked what we'd like to order. After jotting down the meal and two sodas I included a spinach pie to go. This seemed to annoy her as she pushed off the table and told me she needed another slip for this. I guess I was suppose to know this and if I had I wouldn't have bothered to order it if it was the straw that broke the politeness camel's back. She came back with the sodas and we waited for the food. Behind the counter we heard a burp and because neither of us can stifle laughs at these kinds of stimulus, we started to giggle. We talked about the day, how nice the dining room seemed, Dad etc. etc. and almost immediately received our meals as well as had the spinach pie tossed in front of us. Now I am polite to food servers (unless they burp or fart and I can't help to laugh.) I know their jobs can be thankless and they don't get paid well at all. I am *very* polite to them so they know that I appreciate what they do. This woman had either the personality of the "Crazy Nasty@ss Honey Badger" or was offended by something we did ( maybe like not live in Exeter.) This is a local place did I mention that? I've driven by this place tons of times cutting through Slocum so I could avoid rt. 4 and rt. 1 traffic in the summer. I never came in simply because it looks like a place you'd find in Maine where they laugh at you for being a Flat-lander. You know, a "locals" joint. Many locals did indeed come in during the lunch hour. Some sat down, some came to order and pick up. And I decided to come here when Mom asked figuring I'd give the place a break. Who was I to say that it would be one of those places where they serve poor quality food or are jaw drop Neanderthals. The prices are very good. It's simple fare. My biggest complaint about the food was the spinach pie. When I glanced in the paper bag that held it I was pleased that it was as big as it was. It looked like it had been baked just right. Upon opening it 4 hours later and taking a bite I found it to be gummy. The dough was under cooked even though it covered the spinach with a thin "crust". The spinach was hardly spiced although there was a lot of it; there was no olives or garlic. If I had been home I would have just put it in the toaster oven covered in foil. I wasn't at home though which was why I ordered a spinach pie to go.. Now it could be that I was over sensitive and felt intimidated by the waitress/ordering woman's unpleasant New England attitude. I have experienced that before and returned to find that the staff is less standoffish once I've established that I'm not a tourist. Honestly though, the other woman who served the meal was just as cold and after opening an undercooked baked good from a pizza place/diner and getting snapped at as if I worked at the establishment, I am not planning on another disagreeable experience here. The only time I heard a word of thanks was when we left. I am sure they will be happy that we will not be returning. The Celestial Cafe is down the road. I think we'll try that place next time. read more
